Tech Question - Ringing high E that has already stumped the local luthier
Posted by: pbpicone - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (20)

Greetings all

I'm having a similar problem on two of my acoustics (AC312, and 508M).  Both have developed a ringing harmonic on the high E string, both open and while fretted.  I have brought it to a good local luthier and we have been through new saddles, recut nuts, tightening tuners, adjusting saddle to peg angle, changing strings (soldering string windings just in case), Bracing all appears solid, electronics have been remounted in case it was loose wires, proper setup done for action and neck (no action related fret buzz, just the damn harmonic), even clamping down the frets in case one was loose.

The only thing we can find that is left to vibrate is the truss rods, both of which are already under tension.  The only thing we were thinking was possibly the two bars of the double truss rods are vibrating against each other somehow???

Odd that it should happen to both guitars.  I haven't heard anything back from an email to Eastman so I thought I would throw it out here.  Has anyone heard of this as a common problem, and possibly have a solution.

BTW - this was not meant as any kind of a dig on Eastman, I still love them and I'm thinking of adding another dreadnaught to the collection ASAP.  Just stumped about the babies.

-Peter

Well I've had the pleasure of owning 6 Eastmans (AC312CE, AC422CE, AC522CE, AC822CE, and two E10D's) over the years. I still own two of them. But now I have an Eastman E40D SB coming my way. Really looking forward to playing one of these. There were none around my area to play before hand, so I had to go on-line to get it. It was too good of a deal to pass up. Hopefully will be here by Friday. I know Pure Vida has one, and would love to hear from anyone else who has one.

Thought I'd add a different pic here. My phone doesn't take the best pics, but it at least gives you an idea. This guitar is really beautiful in person, and there is something "special" about the 40 series.

  803-15D for sale, like new
Posted by: NoamSane - Forum: For Sale / Trade and Online Deals - Replies (11)

Hi Folks. In 2011 I purchased this gorgeous 803-15D. I played it around the house generally, occasionally took it out for a gig. In 2014 I was diagnosed with Parkinsons, and just this year my fine motor skills have degraded to the point where I've basically stopped playing. So - selling it. It's going to make someone very happy! ana1ana2(at)yahoo(dot)com. The price is right - $1500, shipped. [Image: SYBhY9S.jpg]

  Eastman AC515 Jumbo Acoustic
Posted by: campacj - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (4)

I have a near-perfect Eastman AC515 jumbo on the way. This model is stunning, big and beautiful. I have played this model and remember that it sounds like a grand piano! They are also getting VERY RARE because they are no longer made and have not been for some time. I wonder if anyone else owns one and, if so, what you think of it.
I would love to get a copy of the specifications from the original catalogue. If anyone has an old Eastman catalogue from about 2005-2006, would you please insert a photo of the AC515 page? If you have a PDF copy that would be even better...

  E8-OM...rare?
Posted by: eastmanschool - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (22)

Just did some shuffling. Out went the E6D, in came a 37 year old D18.

Thinking an E8-OM might be a good complementary guitar, I started looking for them used. No soap!

Either people are hanging on to them or else Eastman didn't produce as many. Or something.

  EGF on FB

If you’re on FB, did you know that you can get notified whenever there’s a new thread created on the EGF? Just search for “Eastman Guitar Fans” and find the FB page. “Like” the page to subscribe, and select “See First,” if you don’t want to miss any new threads.

When a new thread is created here, it auto-generates a link on FB, so you can click right into that new thread. It’s actually taking you to the EGF site (but within the FB portal), so you can read and post comments directly. And when you’re done, just hit the back button, and you’re back in FB. Super cool and convenient!

Note: posting comments directly in the FB post will NOT end up in the EGF thread. You need to click the link to get into the forum.

BTW, I created this thread entirely from a link into EGF. Tim has created a forum that is way ahead of what other sites have to offer. Gotta love technology!

Finally, here are some screenshots I captured. I hope Bert doesn’t mind, but his NGD post is the latest thread in this forum.

Search for EGF on FB:

  AR603CE-15
Posted by: Wildfield - Forum: Eastman Electric and Archtop Guitars - Replies (5)

Hello,

New to this forum.  Current owner of an AR503CE and long time fan of electric archtop guitars and jazz guitar music in general.

I am interested in purchasing an AR603CE-15.  I like the compact size of the guitar.

Does anyone happen to know how I would get information on previous generations/iterations of this model or any other similar Eastman archtop models with a 15" lower bout?

I know the current model has a solid spruce top and solid mahogany back and sides.  I seem to remember years ago, that they offered this same model with rosewood back and sides...but I cannot remember with certainty.  Just curious if there is a source to look up old models, or if anyone here might know.

Thank you in advance and looking forward to learn more from this forum.

Best regards,
Darryl

NGD Eastman El Rey 4.. Video @ post#14
Posted by: Bert - Forum: Eastman Electric and Archtop Guitars - Replies (23)

updated edit:

Been kickin tires for a while, finally landed..... 2018 El Rey 4 came in today.  ER4 is beyond magnificent... no words.  The weight/balance is the first thing I noticed, fit-finish is boutique, plays like a dream.  The sound ports are very easy to get acquainted with acoustically, plugged in the PAF humbucker is just plain sweet - bass, mids, trebs. Gotoh closed gear tuners are excellent.

New photos....

ps... don't know if this is std with every ER4, but this Alt Bridge came with mine.  May have been included because it was at the Summer NAMM show?  Anyway, for those who want to get away from the ebony saddle... here's another path to the grail:

I don't make this statement lightly, but this is one of the most amazing live performances I have seen.  That guitar solo... wow.
