2017 Gibson J15

Sitka spruce top over walnut back and sides with Maple neck and 1 23/32" nut; like new, super clean, no marks no issues. It plays easy and sounds fantastic. I just don't quite get along with the thinner profile neck.

It currently has an ivory saddle installed and setup by Seattle-area luthier, Gary Wagner. It also comes with the original saddle and an LR Baggs Element pickup, which I had Gary remove. It can quickly and easily be put back in.

The price is $ including OHSC, US shipping, and PayPal fees.

Thanks to Curt for posting the pictures. They all show up for me...weird.

  Chinese Harmonics

The excellent luthiers who build our Eastman guitars. outside of Western influence, what do they listen for in their big variety of stringed instruments?  This is a fundamental part of why our guitars are so good imo.  I enjoy all sorts of diverse music, a number of years ago YoYo Ma's Silk Road Ensemble introduced me to Wu Man, and others.

The most fundamental thing I hear in the Silk Road type music is well-tuned harmonics, which I believe to be the heart of traditional Asian music.

Zhao Jiszhen is playing the 'lap style' GuQin (goo-chin) and Wu Man is playing a Chinese Pipa (pee pa), forefather of the banjo.  This is a fab demo of harmonics, give a listen to the two instruments dialed into each other.  Big time Eastman heritage here:

  E40D vs. E20D-TC
Posted by: Paul O'Donnell - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (8)

Since I have quickly come to value the opinions of the regulars on this site and I will soon have to decide between these two Eastmans......If you were King for a Day and had to choose:
- E40D has "better" woods and a voiced top
- E2D0-TC has Thermocured top
Please do not consider cost or cosmetics in your vote.
I have mentioned here before that I have had a E20D - TC on order for almost a year, no end in sight - starting to believe that it is a cruel hoax (just kidding) by Eastman. So.....understanding that no one actually HAS an E20D-TC to play for comparison if you could ASSUME a modest improvement in overall sound with the TC, which would you choose ??

I have no affiliation with the guitar or seller, but I know a few of you are interested in the AJ series guitars. This one on the Seattle Craigslist looks like a great deal at $1000.

  Best strings for an E8D?
Posted by: stevieframe - Forum: General Chatter - Replies (4)

I'm new to the forum and couldn't find an answer to my question, my apologies if it has been asked before.

I bought my E8D from GuitarGuitar in Edinburgh in late December and I've been letting it settle before trying some new strings. The guy in the shop put a new set of D'addario's onto the guitar when I bought it. I had used D'addario's before on my Yamaha L6 and found that Martin Retro's sounded way better, would they improve the sound of my E8D?

  I visited some Eastmen yesterday.

I had about 20 minutes at a nearby Eastman dealer yesterday. There was an E6D, E20SS, and E1D.

The E6D was as good as mine, and mine is excellent. And the neck carve is full profile, like mine. The top has darkened nicely, so I am guessing it had been there a while. SN 10445141 Anyone know what year that was made? It is on sale for only $627, and it could use a setup. Plenty of saddle height to adjust.

The E20SS had a narrow, thin neck (think Fender electric) and the new, funky pickguard shape. It was a nice guitar, and I believe it was priced at $775. The E1D was also very nice. The neck profile is a round C and feels a little chunkier than the upper level E series guitars. It sounded great, but not as sophisticated as the E6D. The woods looked really good. I'd have to say that it is the best $459 dreadnought I've ever seen.
