John Pearse armrest added to my Eastman Acoustic
Posted by: Meathead - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (5)

Hi all -

I have added an John Pearse slimline armrest to my E6-OM.  I am happy with what it has done for the tone - the guitar is certainly louder now.  I notice when I play, I rest my arm somewhat heavy on the side of the guitar.  The armrest takes the weight of my arm, allowing the top to be more resonant.  I'm not sure that I will add it to all my guitars, but I am happy with the result on my E6 OM...

What would you choose to do?

  Eastman Archtop AR917CE 7 strings
Posted by: c3014888 - Forum: Eastman Electric and Archtop Guitars - Replies (7)

Hi Folks,

I recently brought a preowned Eastman archtop 7 strings. Absolutely love the sound but I could not find any info about this model from the Eastman website (the similar one I found is AR910-7 strings). Does any one know about the “917” model?

Thanks in advance. I have also sent Eastman a message but still waiting for their reply.

Photo of the label attached.

Cheers,
Lok

Thinline neck profile & fretboard questions
Posted by: blackjam - Forum: Eastman Electric and Archtop Guitars - Replies (4)

Hello. I'm new to this website and I'm glad I've found you folks!

This week I went to a guitar store I occasionally go to and to my surprise, was able to demo the SB59. Boy oh boy! The last several months I've been meticulously organizing and planning a new guitar purchase from another brand and now...I'm not.  At this point, I'm an Eastman guy. Yep. That easy of a decision for me.

I wanted to demo the Thinlines as well but they didn't have any in stock so I have a few questions about them I was hoping some of you all could help me with.

1. Are the neck profiles of the Thinlines, notably the T59/v, the same as the SB59? I've read they may be slightly more low profile but still substantial. I really loved how the SB59 felt neck in my hands.
2. Is the Ebony fretboard also the same as on the SB59? The fretboard felt wonderful and was a joy to play. Wanted to make sure it was of the same feel and quality.
3. Not really neck profile related but, has anyone compared the laminate to solid wood versions? I've only had experience with laminate semis but I see the Eastman website discusses the solid-wood benefits at moderate volumes which I typically play at (don't really gig). But I am leaning towards the T59 at this point.

I hope to get both the semi-hollow & the hardbody at some point but need to still try the semi-hollow to determine which one to get first. Decisions, decisions. Btw, my main musical genres I play are Blues-rock, blues, Soul, Funk, Jam Band stuff. & at this point, strictly a home player.

Thx for any guidance and insight that you all can provide. Look forward to the feedback!

Eastman Acoustic vs Archtop & Hollow Body
Posted by: billymo - Forum: General Chatter - Replies (4)

It looks lately, like there have been quite a few more threads on the Eastman Archtop & Hollow Body guitar section, than on the Eastman Acoustic section.
Those archtops have beautiful woods and gorgeous glossy finishes, and maybe we acoustic guys are just busy playing ours? Just guys, I'd love to have an Eastman T-185MX, natural finish.

  Archtop Rig / Setup
Posted by: Bert - Forum: Eastman Electric and Archtop Guitars - Replies (2)

Poking around, I found a rig / setup that works pretty dang good for the 2006 AR805ce.  I had been thinking about upgrading the old Kent Armstrong floating pickup for the current KA-HJGS6 that comes on the new AR805s, but.... the oldie is very good.

Read a good bit on the Jazz forums, jazz is cool but can only stay on the elevator for so long.  Louis Armstrong & Allstars have been my fav forever, not exactly smooth jazz but, where it all started.  I do hit a couple 6th note chops from time to time, but...  I'm coming at it from a different direction, guitar sounds great with a porcelan slide... oops.

Here's what works for me, be interested in your rig & opinions:

Here's the chain, what I've been using for acoustic, tele, etc:

My T486 arrived! It’s my first Thinline and I am really enjoying getting to know it and it’s sounds. The pickups are a SD Jazz and 59.

has anyone experience of comparing the sound of an acoustic Eastman with the same model set up as electro-acoustic (unplugged)?
