Eastman E10D: Winner Of The Silver
Posted by: campacj - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (16)

Hello All,
For those who love Eastman guitars, here is an article that you may find interesting which appeared in Acoustic Guitar magazine in 2014. Readers answered a poll to find the most loved guitars in various categories. Eastman's E10D won Silver (second place) overall, behind the Martin D-28 Marquis (first place). The Taylor 814CE won Bronze (third place). Pretty high praise for Eastman! This is especially notable when one considers that the other two guitars retail at over $3000.

  Plain Jane

Just for fun......

So how do you feel about blinged-out guitars?  This is my idea of a fab looking ebony fretboard.  Just call me 'plain Jane Bert'.  Long ago I had owned a terrific Gibson Songwriters dread, after a few years... plain Jane couldn't stand to look at that dang mustache one more day, had to go.

How does Eastman bond their dovetail neck?
Posted by: backdoc - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (14)

I spoke to a tech recently who stated that he believed that Eastman uses epoxy on their dovetail joint which would make a neck reset down the road an impossibility, or at least an impractical and expensive task.

Anyone know for sure if they use hide glue / something water soluble or epoxy?

  Describe your dream Eastman Acoustic...
Posted by: Meathead - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (27)

I'll go first.  Here's my dream Eastman Acoustic build:

I'd like an acoustic with the appointments of the E40 OM series, except with an Englemann TC'd top, and mahogany back and sides, along with the body shape in a small jumbo instead of traditional OM.  Finally ... add a slotted headstock.  There you have it, my dream Eastman Acoustic!   Cool

What is yours?

E15SS: $999 Sale At LA Guitar Sales
Posted by: Pura Vida - Forum: For Sale / Trade and Online Deals - Replies (1)

These guitars are a limited run, based on the Gibson LG-2 / B25 body style, but with an Adi top and Rosewood back and side.  Ted can speak to these better than I, but I will say that I was "this close" to purchasing one of these before I got cold feet (and I've been thinking about them ever since).  Anyway, he posted a flash sale for the next few days.  With the recent increase on Rosewood guitars, this looks like a good deal.  Give him a call!

Does anyone know why the “Eastman” mark on the bottom brace is upside down?
Posted by: 12Fret - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (5)

I’ve been meaning to ask the question on the forum: does anyone know why the “burned” Eastman mark on the bottom brace is upside down? I would have thought that, to better advertise the brand, that it would be “right side up” while the guitar is played. Obviously not.

Then, I thought: maybe it’s there for practical reasons. If I’m playing and I suddenly forget the brand that I’m playing, then all I have to do is turn the soundhole up toward me and feel instantly at peace, knowing “Yes, I’m playing the Eastman.”

Anyone have the definitive answer on this? I need to be able to sleep peacefully tonight and my rest is contingent upon your responses . . .

What does Eastman mean by mahogany?
Posted by: robhanesworth - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (9)

I recently bought an E6OM. Beautiful guitar and to me it looks like it could be genuine mahogany. However, I know that a lot of "mahogany" guitars are now being made with African mahogany (khaya) and other substitutes. Does anyone know for sure what Eastman uses?

I like the guitar regardless of the answer.

What's your choice?: LR Baggs ibeam vs. Session VTC
Posted by: jimmy0414 - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (19)

Howdy y'all,

Jimmy here from Louisville, KY. I've ordered an E40-OM from Johnson String Instruments, and waiting for it until early to mid-May, because mine is still in the hands of the luthiers in China! The wait is obviously too long, and in the meantime I started to consider about which pickup to install.

I once had an E20-OO and had JJB Prestige 300 installed on it, and it sounded fine. For E40-OM, I haven't decided which pickup to install. Current candidates are LR Baggs ibeam and Session VTC. I have both of them and leaning more toward ibeam, because Session VTC's piezo and preamp might affect the acoustic sound of the guitar. If you were in my situation, what would be your choice and why?

  Rare E10D Burst $675 craigslist

No affiliation. In knoxville, TN. I will probably be in Knoxville next week, if someone wants me to buy or check this out.
If condition is good, should be a very good price. Says "very good conditon, a scratch too small to show up in photo".
Doesn't say anything about a case.
