905ce in New England
Posted by: dmozell - Forum: Eastman Electric and Archtop Guitars - Replies (4)

Anyone know if any store anywhere in New England has this guitar in stock? I can't find it searching online. I've never played one but find reviews, specs and price to be in line with what I'm looking for. I'd like best to play one in a store and decide on a purchase while there instead of having one shipped for trying out and possibly having to pay shipping if I decide against it. Thanks.

  New additions to the board
Posted by: Meathead - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - No Replies

Hi all

I want to announce a few additions to the forum.

First, an “Introduce Yourself” thread has been stickied at the top – please feel free to post your introduction when able!

Second, after further reconsideration, I have added a for sale/trade section to EGF.  The motivation is to provide a resource to the Eastman fans of this forum.  Please read the guidelines before posting.

Third, I’ve added a ‘other builders’ sub forum, for discussions about other guitar brands, moving existing threads out of the ‘general’ section.

Thank you for contributing to EGF, and as always, I welcome your feedback.

You can feel free to introduce yourself however you’d like, however I thought I’d lead with proposed questions you can choose to answer.

  Eastman... overnight in the cold
Posted by: Meathead - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (14)

Long story short, my Eastman was accidentally left in a trunk of a car a few years ago after I traded cars with my wife (I had to leave for a business trip, and she forgot to take the guitar out).  Anyway, that night the temperature got down into the teens.  Believe it or not, there are some cold parts of Arizona Smile.

Anyway... the Eastman top developed some 'character' ... via finish checking.   Cool  It's a good thing I don't ever plan on selling it... still sounds great of course!

  Christmas Lights
Posted by: Pura Vida - Forum: General Chatter - Replies (6)

Yes, we have one of those crazy Christmas light houses!  Full disclosure: this is all my wife's vision.  She does all the assembly, programming, etc., and I simply throw in some creative ideas (like which music to use, synchronization ideas).

Here are two videos I made through the roof of my car (sound and video are ok):
Video 1: U2 - "Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)"
Video 2: She & Him - "Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree"

Enjoy!

  Thoughts on T58/v vs. T64/v
Posted by: mrthumbs - Forum: Eastman Electric and Archtop Guitars - Replies (8)

Hi all,

New member Brian from Colorado. Primarily a bass player, but now devoting time to playing guitar for low-pressure self-care and fun.

I landed here after looking into these two different models. I'm looking to buy a hollow body and Eastman has seemed to really nail the right specs on both of these guitars. Unfortunately I can't play either before I buy, and I would love to hear thoughts about your experiences with each if possible.

That being said, I did get to play the T58 a month ago while traveling...I enjoyed the feel of the neck and it sounded incredibly resonant unplugged. I didn't get to plug it in though, and that is one area I'm curious about. The videos all sound good, but I'd love to hear first hand experience with how it might compare to a 6120 for example.

Also, has anyone put hands on a T64 or know if the neck profile is the same? Again, videos sound great, but I'm really itching for first hand description from a general player vs magazine review.

Style-wise, I'm playing Sun records rockabilly/early rock and roll, with baby steps towards Stray Cats work, but also want flexibility for getting into grittier blues. A huge Beatles fan as well which adds a nice balance to my indecision.

Would there be a benefit with one over the other?

Brian

About more than a month ago I had intended to get a small sized guitar, better with sunburst, to be my travel ax. Ended up getting an Eastman E10 OOSS, my first Eastman guitar, looks and sounds great. This one was made in September, 2014, maybe the first batch E10 OOSS to USA, or at least one of the earliest, which means it definitely has 20 year old Adi top.
But it's too heavy to be a travel one, exactly as heavy as my Martin HD-28(with a KK pure mini installed). unbelievable. So I had to get another. Later I saw positive reviews about an Elderly designed Farida OT-22, and said that it's light weighted. So ordered it. Now waiting...
BTW, Who will give some comments on the differences between 20 year old Adi and new Adi stuff ? I'd appreciate it very much.

Dave.

  Eastman E6-OM has arrived!
Posted by: Meathead - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (9)

Howdy all!

I'm happy to report that my Eastman E6-OM has arrived!

Quick review:

*  Yet again - simply blows my mind that I can own an acoustic guitar with this kind of quality, at this price!
*  Sounds great, very well balanced, beautiful piano like tone
*  String spacing at the saddle is improved!  This is a 2017 Eastman, so at least on this model, the spacing at the saddle is wider than my AC512 from 2012
*  LOVE the new Eastman new pearl inlay

Super happy with the guitar.  The neck feels great.  Only thing I'd change is slightly lower action - but as a fingerstyle player I do like really low action, versus factory standard.   Another winner from Eastman! Happy to answer any questions...
