Help me decide - E2D
Posted by: SasquatchLife - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (11)

I'm about to pull the trigger on an E2D, and can't decide which back set I like the most. What do you guys think? Guitar 1, 2 or 3?

For some reason Guitar 3 didn't show up as a poll option, but would still like to hear your thoughts on that one as well. Appreciate it!

  OM replacement pickguard
Posted by: Steve Yarbrough - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (5)

I have an E20 OM, and I love everything about the guitar except the pickguard. It’s so dark that it looks like one of those black pickguards Martin used in the 70s and 80s. Can anyone tell me where to find the right size replacement? Also, how hard is it to remove the original? Any advice would be appreciated.

thanks, Steve

  OM necks
Posted by: Ralphy - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (6)

Currently I have only one acoustic a Cort I got about 12 years ago.  Dreadnought sitka top and solid hog sides and back.  It sounds great, but I am now a little old man and it feels like i am holding a mattress.   Plus I am attempting to learn fingerstyle.  Hence the search.

I recently got to play some Eastman acoustics,  they were beautiful.  Unfortunately, I can't report much on the sound as it was Saturday afternoon in a store in Mesa AZ and the place was packed, even the high end acoustic room.  However, I liked what I did hear and see.  Now the problem ,they were AC something or other, one was about $1000 and the other about 1500.  My problem with them was the neck, both seemed really thick and both had a high gloss finish, so both were sticky.   I really like shiny but prefer satin necks and short scales.

Looking at the specs on the Eastman site it looks like all of them have the same neck "traditional even C".  Can any of you shed some light on this, do the E OM models have satin or gloss.  The AC's were great and I like cutaways, too bad.
My other search to find and play is a Yamaha FS3 or 5 Red Label.  Any thoughts on those would be appreciated also.

Thanks

Greetings from our part time home in Yuma AZ.  First post here, after some lurking.  I do not own an Eastman, but that may change in the near future.  I play mostly electric, Ibby artcore and a Tele, but for some reason I am trying to learn finger style.  old fingers are making it harder than I thought, but still fun.  I will post my questions and thoughts in the acoustic area.  Anyway, it looks like a great group, glad to be here.

I'm looking for an Eastman AR 610 with sunburst finish.  Can't seem to find one anywhere.  Anyone out there have one for sale, or know someone who wants to sell one?

Thanks,

  Pickup advice - T386
Posted by: JohnnyH - Forum: Eastman Electric and Archtop Guitars - Replies (3)

Hi all,

Hopefully someone might have some experience here that can help me.

I bought a T386 back in July 2022, and I have played it almosr exclusively since then. My Gibson ES135 and Strats and Teles have all taken a back seat.
I love the neck, the look, the ebony fretboard, the frets... well I just love it Smile

Anyhow, the only issue I have is when I use it with my BLues Cube Stage. Basically it flubs out, I tend to use the neck pickup for 80% of what I play, and it is soooo muddy and flubby. It's not so bad if I grab my little Pro Junor to run it through, but still a bit.

It has the original Kent Armstrong pickups in, and I measured them to approx 8.6 neck and 8.58 bridge, so I am wondering if a nice set of lower output, better quality pickups might be the answer.

So, what recommendations do folk have, I have looked at Lollar Imperials, Seth Lovers, Antiquities etc... they all seem slightly lower output, not massively, but slightly.

Any help appreciated.

Cheers

Johnny

  Eastman vs Taylor
Posted by: hardycreek1 - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (48)

So I stopped in to a guitar store and played a few while travelling through a larger Western Montana city. All they had was Yamaha and Taylor. I asked the guy if they ever got any Eastmans, and he said they are from Canada and hard to get because of supply chain issues. Ok.

I strummed a few, they all sounded thin. The Taylor I liked the best had an arm bevel on it and had a beautiful stain on the front and it sounded half decent. Then I looked at the price tag: $2995.

HA! My E10-SS cost about a third of that and is a much better guitar! Even if the Eastman was $2995 I would still have bought it over the Taylor.

SCORE EASTMAN!

My first guitar - Advice needed
Posted by: Singularity - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (18)

Hi guys,

I’m an absolute beginner and have decided to get an Eastman as my first guitar. I wanted to invest in a decent guitar that I can learn and grow on but at the same time didn’t wanna overspend, and Eastman fits the bill perfectly. Martin and Taylor are out of question at the moment as I’d be spending twice as much for a similar quality instrument (although I’d really like to get a Martin OM-28!).

The two models that I’ve shortlisted are the E20OM/E20OM-TC and AC522CE. I’d be looking to learn to play soft, gentle, moody tunes which, from my limited knowledge, involves more finger play than strumming (examples https://youtu.be/gswTZDrXPvM and https://youtu.be/XtkN8AtzyVE).

I was heavily leaning towards the E20OM/E20OM-TC (want a comfortable, medium-sized guitar) but now find myself in a bit of a dilemma — I’m able to get the AC722CE, which is step up from AC522CE, $150 cheaper from one of the stores here in Australia. Although the colour is not to my liking (Dakota finish) but I feel it’s a better bang for buck and possibly a better investment in the long run. For context, I don’t plan on gigging or playing publicly as it’s more for personal enjoyment/playing at family get togethers etc. (if I end up getting good enough that is).

I’d greatly appreciate your thoughts and advice to help me with my decision.

Thank you!
