Anyone removed a pickguard from varnish series?
Posted by: Cree - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (3)

I'm planning on removing a pickguard from an E10SS/v and wondering if anyone has done this and any advice on best technique. I've removed pickguards from nitro finish tops easily with dental floss and gentle heat and clean up with naphtha, but thinking that may not work so well on varnish. I think it would look better without the guard especially with the distress already present. Has anyone tried this?

I asked AI for an image based on what it sees on EGF ... and this is what it came up with...  Big Grin   Not sure what to think on this one, but kinda creative I admit:

Davy Graham: Anji & All Of Me
Posted by: AlanSam - Forum: General Chatter - No Replies

Davy Graham was one of the most influential folk and blues acoustic guitarists
from the 1960s onwards. He pioneered many alternative tunings influenced by his travels in North Africa and the Middle East, and wrote many great tunes -  you might have heard his classic instrumental Anji played on guitar https://www.last.fm/music/Davy+Graham/_/Anji but which he composed on an oud. In my misspent youth 50+ years ago I could just about play this albeit pretty damn badly, but not at all now lol.
This is him playing the jazz standard All of Me https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L7Si_glXOzc
I saw him live once in a small club in Manchester sitting about five feet from me and was absolutely blown away. Using the term genius is a tad pretentious, but ...

E6OM-TC (Alpine) vs E10OM-TC - which would you chose?
Posted by: TomC - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (4)

I have been thinking of adding a short scale OM. My preference is for mahogany as I have an amazing 12 fret Rosewood OM already. I also have a deep body long scale mahogany OM that works for me as stand-in for a dread. I came a cross an AGF ad for an E6OM-TC  from 2021 - https://www.acousticguitarforum.com/foru...p?t=699051 as well as an UMGF ad for an E10OM-TC - https://umgf.com/eastman-e10om-tc-new-pr...39117.html Both guitars seem to be in excellent condition. Both are listed at $850 shipped.
I previously owned an E8OM-TC with Alpine and an E20OM (as well as an E40OM stupidly sold, but let's not go there) The Alpine struck me as not as sweet as Sitka nor loud as Adirondack but a nice balance of a little of both. The Adirondacks struck me as having more distinct note separation and can get louder without breaking up. (Probably over-generalizations of both)

Assuming price, condition, model etc as being equal with the only difference being the type of spruce which would you chose? Unfortunately neither guitar is local nor returnable. I could buy both and keep the one I like better, but I would prefer not to hassle with listing/selling/shipping etc. Thanks for your time.

Upgrading pickups, but not wiring. How do I ground new pickups?
Posted by: Dom 386 - Forum: Eastman Electric and Archtop Guitars - Replies (2)

Hi,
I have an Eastman T386 and would like to know how to ground the single braided wire from the SD Antiquity pickups without removing the wiring harness.
I plan on splicing the new pickup wires to the old ones.

I've read that you normally solder the braided part to the volume pot.  Since I don't want to remove the wiring harness, is there another way to ground the pickups?

My luthier was able to look inside the F-holes with a tool and confirmed the pots are CTS.

Regards,
Dom

  Question about E20 00
Posted by: El Cheapo - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (10)

Hello! I recently acquired an Eastman E20 00 from Chicago Music Exchange. The serial number places it at a 2015 manufacture date. Can someone tell me whether this older guitar has the thermo cured top? Thanks in advance!

The guitar in question...

  Eastman AC820E
Posted by: gruuv - Forum: For Sale / Trade and Online Deals - Replies (1)

Good afternoon, all!

Has been a long time - have had a great deal of family challenges going on over the last few years, which has caused me to be pretty absent online in general. Still playing my Eastmans though!

Years ago I posted a WTB for an AC820, found one, bought it, and loved it! Sadly, I now must move on from it due to the dread body size being a bit much for my bad right shoulder. My trusty old AC708CE will have to pull all the duty.

So, here it is:

Circa 2015, I believe. The Engelmann, EIR , and tasteful abalone inlays and flamed maple binding are wonderful. Gotoh (super smooth) tuners and I've added a K&K Pure Mini for a nice, natural plugged in tone.

Not a case queen, it's been played, but only has minor cosmetic imperfections. A scratch on the top is pictured (not through the finish); there are other, less obvious scratches here and there, but nothing that affects playability, tone, or structural integrity.

I love this guitar - LOVE it. It's complex, deep, has overtones for days that aren't overpowering.

$1200, OBO. No trades, please.

* I am open to feedback on price - these are so rare, I'm not even sure what a fair price is. *
