Anyone have experience with Waterloo guitars?  Watched a couple of demos of their WL 14 and thought they have some potential!

I was looking at Eastman OM's for a next guitar sometime next year, ideally mahogany with spruce top. Anyway, browsing a ebay yesterday I came across an Eastman E60M TC for a very reasonable price. As my luck would have it the vendor lived just 4 miles away. It was really too good to miss so one click and a phone call later I was on my way. The guitar is 4 months old and the vendor was clearing some of his collection of guitars, the Eastman not having been played much since purchase. It is in mint condition and plays beautifully, very good tone and well balanced. I think the E20D may have to take a bit of a back seat for a while as the OM is exactly the sound I am looking for currently. The neck, scale length and nut width are perfect for finger picking (for me) and it flat picks and strums very well. Glad I took the plunge and didn't dither as I would have missed an absolute bargain! (also my wife said I would need to get another Lakota strap so I know she doesn't really mind another guitar and case in the house[Image: smile.gif]).

  Wanted/Trade - Your Eastman E10ooss/v or E20OOSS for my Sigma s000b-45vs+ limited
Posted by: CteaG - Forum: For Sale / Trade and Online Deals - Replies (2)

Hey all,

I came across this forum early last year and have been a lurker for some time and figure I would try my luck here. I've played several Eastmans over the past few years but never personally owned one and figured it's time I do. I'm looking for a very specific trade and thought this forum may be one of my best bets of finding it. I've also posted this to my local (Denver) craigslist as well as Facebook Marketplace but thought this may be an even better place in case someone may be looking for a similar trade. If this isn't the right place, let me know and I can take the post down.

I have a near-mint Sigma Limited S000B-45VS+ that I would like to trade for an all solid small or mid-bodied Eastman. I've listed a couple that I have my eyes on but if you have something else you'd like to trade, I'd certainly be open to it. Here is some info about the Sigma, but of course, let me know if you have any questions (link to images below).

The guitar is a limited production from 2018 with just 48 ever produced. It is all solid wood (European Alpine Spruce top and African Blackwood back and sides) with ornate inlays and Grover butterbean tuners. The guitar is in great condition, is an exceptionally great playing guitar with very unique tonewoods and is quite the looker. In particular, the solid African Blackwood on the back is absolutely stunning as is the mahogany neck and the inlay work and binding. I've included the full specs at the bottom of this page - see a handful of pics attached of the striking looks. I can send more as requested as well. There are also several more in the Craigslist post below (if that is not allowed, I will remove as advised).

The guitar is a 000 size but it is more akin to the early Martin 000 shape, not the more modern 000 or OM size they are currently producing - think of a 00 size just made larger and you'll have the shape of this guitar. Due to the tonewoods and size, this guitar is midrange forward with a lovely ringing and chiming tone. It is truly unique to anything else I've ever played.

I'm sure many of you here are aware of the Sigma history. As of now, guitars under the Sigma name are generally unavailable in the US due to Sigma only being distributed in foreign markets (currently). They distribute AMI to the states but their limited line is strictly Sigma. Their lack of US distribution has naturally made them that much rarer in the US.

The guitar comes with its original case which fits like a glove and is itself a great piece of craftsmanship. I've included the detailed specs below. Don't hesitate to reach out with any questions or if you'd like to offer another guitar for trade.

Anyone had both an E10D and an E10SS? Would love a comparison if so.
Posted by: Shishigashira - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (10)

I'm on the edge of putting my E10SS/v up for sale.  I think its one of the best looking guitars I've ever seen.  And the tone has been opening up beautifully.  But I'm having two issues with it.  One is that when I really dig into it, it compresses the sound. As I understand it, the slope shoulder is designed to do that and the compressed sound is preferred for recording.  To me it feels like having a speed limiter on my car, and when I want to go real fast it tut tuts and cuts off the fun.  I'm not always looking to let'er rip, but don't like that it doesn't quite let me.

The other issue, and perhaps more significant, is that as I expand my skills/knowledge I've developed a clear preference for a wider neck.  Part of it is the string spacing, but just as much is the feel of a wider neck and how it sits on my hand.  One of my friends plays electric guitars and loves the neck of the E10SS/v.  I find myself being less and less interested in playing it with the options I now have although I very much enjoy the tone.

So, I'm wondering about the E10D, and having that as a replacement for the E10SS/v.  I generally would love a nice LOUD guitar and I can moderate as needed.  And I also expect that the neck will be much better since i already own an E2D and an E20D-tc.   But there is a surprising amount of variation on the thickness of these necks, so I may just need to try.

  Stock tuners on 2008 T184MX?
Posted by: gfuchs - Forum: Eastman Electric and Archtop Guitars - Replies (1)

Hello! I am new here, my name is Gabriel and I'm from Uruguay. I have a T184MX from 2008 and I will replace the tuners, which are a Chinese crap. Do anyone now which are the stock tuners? I included a photo of the original ones, and two photos of the actual. It is curious that they are angled 45°. With this angle I found Gotoh SG381 and SGS510, but they are different from the original ones.

Original ones:

  Laminated block under fretboard.
Posted by: REHII - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (12)

[Image: VxSrMpJ.jpg][Image: ifNQ9S8.jpg]My E6D-TC “alpine Swiss” has a laminated block above the head block below the top under the fingerboard.
I checked my E40D and it has a solid wood block in the same place.
It’s where the truss rod adjustment is.
I also noticed that they both do not have the”popsicial” brace like Martin guitars have.
Can other Eastman owners check and see which models have laminated and which have solid “fretboard support blocks” ( I have made this name up)
I tried to make photos but it’s hard. I just wonder is it only the 40 series that gets solid wood or do other series get it also. [Image: FRv6qaB.jpg][Image: ppFn8cq.jpg]

  Type of Mahogany on E6D-TC
Posted by: REHII - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (7)

I asked Eastman guitars through “ fretted@eastmanstrungs.com “ about the type of Mahogany used on my E6D-TC.
I asked if it was “genuine” mahogany, Sweetenia Macrophyllia and if it was did it come from South America or Fiji?
Or was it Khaya from Africa, a mahogany substitute.
I also asked about the finish
Here is the reply I got.

“I am glad to hear you are enjoying your Eastman guitars! The switch to our new Truetone finish was on June 1st, so your guitar will have the old nitrocellulose finish. I have provide our press release for the Truetone finish below. I am not aware of a card for our Swiss alpine models, as they are technically not a new model and we did not produce a limited edition card for them. As for the Mahogany, we do use Khaya on this model.”

So it’s not genuine mahogany, but a Khaya species , most likely from Africa.

I guess the guitar still sounds good enough for me to have bought it new.
I buy most guitars used to save money.
I wonder if this person really has the access to the information I am asking about.
It would be great if all guitar makers would always use the scientific names of the woods they use and keep accurate records of every guitar they build.
I guess I just am a little obsessed about wood.
Anyone have any info about the kind of “mahogany “ Eastman uses?
I will say it certainly looks very
different from the two Martin mahogany guitars I have.
One is from 1970 d so I am confident it is genuine mahogany from South America, Sweetenia Macrophyllia
