2021 Eastman AC822CE - Engleman top.. opening up questions
Posted by: donovantyler - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (15)

Hi y'all!

I've got 3 Eastman acoustic guitars now:
 - AC822CE
 - E10D-TC
 - E10OM-TC
Plus: T59/v and (just bought) SB59/v

They're all fantastic.  I bought the AC822CE new and have had it for around 3 months now and it has the Truetone finish (much to my initial surprise and  disgruntlement) and must say that the Truetone finish is really really nice! It's very thin, looks to me like very thin nitro but unlike nitro, it's very hard!

The E10s are both TC Adirondak tops and about 2 months newer and opening up really nicely.. very loud, resonant and every week there are more and more overtones.. it's delightful. I perform with the E10D-TC and everyone loves it. Really cuts in the mix too!

I just can't say that is true for the stunningly beautiful and amazingly crafted AC822CE though (so far). It still feels tight and closed..not so resonant. (yet?) Sad

I didn't really know what Engleman spruce was when i bought it, only that a fingerstyle guitarist friend a long time ago had a Martin OM with Adi and a Collings OM with Engleman and he just had this thrilled tone in his voice when he talked about the Engleman spruce!  So, I assumed it was just better and i paid the extra $$ to get then was the best AC Eastman made, with the Engleman top and the arm bevel (which i really like).

It's just not as loud or ringing as the others (yeah i know it's not apples-to-apples).. there are really nice overtones, but it's subtle. I think it likes to be gently finger picked and doesn't respond to my style of strumming and picking (i'm an excitable boy you see).
I have read that Engleman takes (a lot) longer to open up and if it's going to grow into this mind-blowingly resonant and soulful guitar, i'm certainly willing to keep playing it at home and wait.
It is stunningly beautiful and feels good in the hands and plays very well.  I do want a cutaway for if/when i'm going to be playing solos, etc...
I think i'm at the point of needing some good encouragement or the straight talk.. and maybe i have to cut my losses and sell it.
Do you guys have any experience with similar guitars with Engleman tops?  Will it open up, improve a lot over time?
Thanks! -Donovan

  Does this make sense?

Maybe I’m overthinking this, but as I was researching Eastmans with Adi tops, I couldn’t help but wonder how absurd it is to have wood from a few states away shipped across the world, only to be shipped back to a dealer nearby for me to buy. Is this commerce at its best or environmental waste at its worst?

Bought the D-18 last Friday and it's been in Kansas City MO all week.  Hasn't moved.  Must be a test of my patience.  Wanna guess which shipping company it is? Smile

  Help choosing an OM

Hello! Seeking some advice on choosing an OM. I found an E10OM (non-TC) and E6OM-TC with Swiss Alpine top for around the same price. Which would y’all pick?

Hello, new Eastman fan here. My limited understanding is that the E models are inspired by various Martin (D, OM, etc.) and Gibson (J-XX) models, and the AC by Taylor's 14 series. If this is accurate, does Eastman do a better job building one model over another. I'm mainly thinking of how Blueridge does a "better" job with their Martin clones than Gibson.

Eastman E1OO Ltd acoustic-electric guitar. Limited Edition OO size.

Adirondack spruce top and solid sapelle back and sides. Ebony fretboard, bridge, and bridge pins. Very nice condition with no visible flaws other than normal light playwear (swirls on pickguard mainly). I'm trying to link photos from Imgur, but apparently I'm doing something wrong. I've done my best to photograph everything. If you want/need more photos, PLEASE just let me know. I've done my best to accurately represent the guitar and I want you to be happy.

The guitar was originally equipped with a Fishman Sonicore active pickup. I wasn't overly impressed so I had the pickup replaced with a high-dollar K&K Ultra Pure active pickup system with the phenomenal sound hole preamp. Brand new bone compensated saddle professionally made and installed along with the K&K pickup system. It comes with a high-end Eastman heavily padded gig bag. I'll include the original Certificate of Authenticity for this limited edition guitar, a new set of Santa Cruz strings, and the original Fishman Sonicore pickup system.

I am the original owner. The only reason I'm parting with this guitar is that I'm trying to work toward buying a Martin CEO-7. This guitar is definitely priced to sell.

$850 shipped anywhere in the lower 48 states. $800 if picked up locally. Pickup is in Swansea, IL (St. Louis metro area)

I ONLY accept PayPal (Add 3.5% for G&S), Venmo (preferred) or cash. Payments through FB will be immediately cancelled and refunded. I will ship same or next business day.

  NGD - T486
Posted by: eastmanschool - Forum: Eastman Electric and Archtop Guitars - Replies (2)

Looking to replace my son's backup guitar - a languishing AR371 - we posted it for sale on craigslist. Got a hit from a guy with an Eastman T-486 who was hoping to trade for a hollowbody. To shorten the long story, it was a match. The guy ended up with the AR371, some cash and a set of strings. My kid, the T-486.

I don't know much about electric guitars, and my son is learning - from experience - which of them work for him. So we thought the worst that could happen with the swap was he'd get a semi-hollow to try out. If he didn't love it, then we could try to move it on later. Well, it quickly became obvious that there was no worst case scenario involved, and the T-486 is now his number 1 guitar. Not even going to try to get specific about it as, again, I know nothing. But the kid has been playing it nearly non-stop.

BTW, I love it when craigslist transactions work out the way this one did! No muss, no fuss, each party got what he wanted.

Hello! I discovered this forum while researching Eastman OM guitars. I'm new to the brand, and my only experience is what I've read on forums and seen on Youtube, but I look forward to actually playing one in the near future. As a newbie, I was hoping to get some advice on where to purchase one. Are the prices firm or do dealers have wiggle room? Thanks!

  Eastman E2D-CD demo
Posted by: alvarogs - Forum: Guitar Videos - Replies (5)

Hi Everyone!

As there are very few videos of the Cedar-topped dreadnought of Eastman I decided to record a small demo of my E2D.

I bought it about one year ago, here in Spain. I live in Madrid and there are very few places to find Eastmans, but I got lucky and found this one with a good discount when lockdown finished and brought this one home for being my workhorse.

In the description of the video there are some details about strings, microphone used etc.

Hope you enjoy and hope it helps to people trying to decide to buy this fantastic guitar and have not the possibility to try it.
