Interesting guitar. Too similar to my Larrivee 12 fret SD-50 tobacco burst to be of any serious interest to me. If it were 50% cheaper I would like to own it for a while and then move it on.

  Setup Sunday
Posted by: EP1 - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (13)

Since the current outdoor temperature in Southwest Missouri is akin to living on the sun, today seemed like a good day to fine tune the setup on a PCH 3.
The stock Ping tuners have been swapped out for Schaller's, oversized ebony pins sanded down to fit while maintaining the larger head on the pins. Red Tortiloid pickguard replaced the stock black guard and brought the action down at the saddle by a tad over a 64th of an inch. A fresh set of D'Addario medium nickel bronze strings and all is right.
A good day by any measure.

Just noticed on the Eastman site that the 40 OM price has increased by $500.00.

Glad I got my order in beforehand!

  Attached my new pickguard

I attached my new pickguard that Taylor Mullins made for me.  It is beautifully made.  The process of the pickguard removal, glue removal and pick guard attachment went well.

I love it!   The only problem with it.....I don't play any better Big Grin

  E10D-TC vs E10D
Posted by: campacj - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (6)

I have an opportunity to aquire an E10D-TC at a very reasonable price. I already own an E10D and rate it as my favorite among my fifteen guitars. My question is whether the "TC" is worth buying another guitar. My E10D is a few years old and has opened up nicely. It is the one guitar I would keep if I could only have one. I don't have the opportunity to play the TC first as Eastman guitars are not widely available here. So, what say you who own or (at least have heard) the E10D-TC?

  Uptick in shipping issues?
Posted by: Airborne - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (6)

Lately, on different forums, there appears to be an uptick in guitar shipping issues.

Guitars arriving damaged, guitars misplaced/vanishing!!

Kind of unsettling when you’re awaiting shipment of a guitar across country! Oh well, it is what it is.

  Where to buy Eastman case
Posted by: eastmanfan2 - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (9)

Hi all, have an e20 OM and am looking for a retailer from which to buy the new style cases. I have the one it came in but it's always been slightly a hassle to close. I saw the thread on case styles and it seems like most prefer the new one.

I've reached out to Eastman and they do not sell them directly, nor do the few retailers I've asked. Are these available individually anywhere at all? I suppose if someone didn't like their new case I'd happily trade as well Smile

  T486 vs T59/v

T486 vs. T59/v

I have an opportunity to buy one of these guitars left-handed from a store in another state. Not being able to audition these in person at this time, I have to rely on the opinion of others to help with my decision.

I know all the technical differences between these 2 models. I know about the difference in the nitro vs  varnish finish, and I know the T486 has SD Jazz neck / SD 59 bridge (Alnico 5/potted) while the T59/v has SD Anitiquities (Alnico 2/non-potted).

What I am unclear about, and why I am seeking opinions here, is the differences in TONE.  I have watched  whatever is available on YouTube, but there is no direct comparison between these 2 specific models.

I am looking for a versatile guitar - my playing ranges from Steely Dan solos to chordal and single note jazz, and from clean and low to medium gain classic rock to airy /spacy solo arrangements. in all these genres, I need clarity most of all, with spanky bite in the bridge pickup but without harshness, and smoothness of tones in the neck pickup without getting muddy.

Please help!
Best regards, LeftFrankie

  E40 OM shipped!
Posted by: Airborne - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (4)

Helene at LA Guitars has informed me my guitar has shipped with an August 18th expected arrival! With the COVID situation, I’ll be happy if it’s here by the 21st.

I’m sure I don’t have to tell you folks that the waiting is the hardest part (kinda sounds like a song)!

This is my first Eastman, and hopefully by far the best acoustic I’ve ever owned! My skills do not match this degree of excellence, but boy am I ever going to bang away on this baby after arrival!
