IRIS Guitars

Good day Folks

wonder if any of you have played or at least seen an IRIS Guitar in a shop? It is a relatively new Guitar brand, made by Adam Buchwald. (the Luthier behind Vermont based Circle Strings).

I am asking cause a friend of mine played an OG model (think Gibson LG style) in a shop in the Netherlands while he was there on a work trip. He thought they were quite nice. All Hand made around 2K EUR. Their own design. Shape, neck Joint etc. No frills Guitar, completely stripped down. Sort of Martin 15 Series vibe. not even pore fillers. He said it sounded very lively, dynamic and open. He really liked the Guitar. Couldn't find a whole lot online. Below some links.

Also the shop I bought my E8OM in the Netherlands has a slope shoulder Iris Guitar on stock, also made a Video of it comparing it to a J45. I did ask the Sales Guy what he thinks of the Guitar, he said it was a very well made Guitar, great craftmanship and very good Woods. Unique desing. First you Need to get used to the bare Looks und feel, but it has a great neck shape, similar to Eastman's he thought, kinda full C and a very nice vibe altogether. A very cool guitar, all handmade...something different indeed he said. I posted that link below as well.

thought I drop a thread and see if there is any Feedback. I do like the "raw" style of the 15 series by Martin. I only sold my 000-15m cause I wasn't too much into the all hog Sound and also the neck wasn't much my Cup of tea….and yeah I got a great offer for it :-)

PS: I am sure there will be comments on the Headstock design. I very much love that design! very cool and different to everything else around. Talking design, I am not too crazy About the Pickguard shapes.

let me know what ya'all think.
cheers
Mitch

  Cleaning products
Posted by: Amazoman - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (10)

I have just taken delivery of my beautiful AC222ce-ov classic. First impressions beautiful tone, I mean delivery was an hour ago so haven’t given it a real go.I am really pleased that I read another post on the forum about not using household cleaning products on open pore guitars. This new guitar has the classic finish. Would I be ok to use bees wax? If not any suggestions please.

Inside of E20OM-TC Varnished, or oiled?
Posted by: sparkysings - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (34)

Hi! I’m new to the forum and just received my new E20OM-TC last week. This is the 4th Eastman I’ve owned, (E10OM, E10SS & E10D) All of these were great guitars, but the E20OM-TC is the best too date.

I took a look inside today and noticed the back and sides appear to be oiled, or varnished. Is this normal? I’ve never seen this on other guitar and I’ve bought and sold a fair number.

  Humidifiers
Posted by: Solu54@msn.com - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (4)

Hello all!
I am new to six string guitars but not to musical instruments, as I have played bass guitar since 1978. I always wanted to learn acoustic guitar but never purchased one until last week.

Before guitar, I actually wanted to learn Mandolin. Learning about various mandolin models, options and manufacturers lead me to Eastman. From Eastman's website I learned about their unique offerings for Acoustic guitars.

After trying different guitar sizes (jumbo's, dreadnaughts, concerts, etc), at local guitar stores, I carefully concluded that the E20OOSS would fit the bill.

When my guitar arrived, I was completely blown away in regards to the sheer beauty of the instrument. Felt so right in my hands. Something this elegant deserves my full commitment.

So, for you more experienced acoustic players, would you recommend that I keep a humidifier in the case? I live in Southern California.

  New acoustic
Posted by: Rad - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (15)

It arrived today, beautifully packed and in perfect shape, a new E20D-TC from Blues Angel.  My second purchase from them.

Simply lovely guitar, but you folks already knew that. I almost bought a Martin D-18 but in the end could not justify the cost.  I did buy a stunning Takamine P4DC first; a truly stunning guitar with a to die for amplified tone.  It has a tube preamp inside the guitar. I did not like the neck or the acoustic tone, it ships back for a full refund.

The Eastman is a keeper.  Next will be deciding on a pickup system.

  Changing Ping V93Ns to Gotoh SE700 - E10D
Posted by: Tagore - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (16)

Hello all,
Proud second owner of an Eastman E10D. Boy does it sing. Not so impressed with the Ping machine heads though and looking at changing them out. Guitar is around 3 years old I am told.
Anyone have experience of changing the pings out for Gotohs and did the bushings need changing or can I just slot the Gotoh SE700s into the Ping Bushings?
Concerned that some had issues changing out the bushings as they were firmly glued in place.
Cheers

Anyone have a favorite clear pick guard? I have a sunburst OM and don’t want to hide the top at all

  NGD - SB55/v
Posted by: slickman - Forum: Eastman Electric and Archtop Guitars - Replies (11)

This is getting a little ridiculous and no I am not a dealer Smile. Just got the long awaited SB55/v LP Jr. Its amazing, big ole hunky neck just the way I like them. This one is 6.6 lbs so very resonant. Kicks the crap out of the G branded version of this.
