2012 E20-OM Near Mint
Posted by: ftwlouie - Forum: For Sale / Trade and Online Deals - Replies (1)

Natural finish. A beautiful and full-voiced guitar, especially for the price, this Eastman E-20-OM has a solid Adirondack spruce top, solid rosewood back and sides, and a 14-fret mahogany neck. Vintage-style appointments include herringbone top trim, and open gear tuners. I'm unsure why, but it was either produced without the pickguard, or a previous owner removed it and had the finish so expertly refinished and restored that you can't tell it ever had a pickgtuard. She's in  excellent condition; a couple of minor dings. OHSC.

Hey y'all - this is one of my favorite ballads from the 80's... thought I'd work on a fingerstyle version.  Played on my fantastic Eastman AC122-1CE.

Thanks for watching..

Replacement bridge for El Rey 2?
Posted by: feis - Forum: Eastman Electric and Archtop Guitars - Replies (9)

Hello everyone,
I bought a used El Rey 2 yesterday and I absolutely love it. However, I am not so sure about the bridge. It is currently strung with round wound 12s with a wound G, that is pretty much what it says on this page they come with from the factory https://www.eastmanguitars.com/er2
so you would guess the bridge would be made exactly for this type of string, but when I did a setup yesterday after buying it to improve action and intonation, the G string on the 12th fret came out horribly flat, about a quarter tone, with all other strings perfectly intonated. I would expect this to happen if the bridge was made for a wound G and I strung it with a plain G, but that's not the case here. Am I overlooking something?
I would really like to try a tune-o-matic. Will any of the regular brands like Gotoh, Schaller or Tonepros be a drop-in-replacement to use the same base without further modifications, or will I need to get a base custom made in order to accommodate a tune-o-matic?
Best regards,
Franz

  For Sale: Near-Mint 2012 AR371-CE Sunburst
Posted by: ftwlouie - Forum: For Sale / Trade and Online Deals - No Replies

I bought this beauty about five years ago when I got the bug to work a little more on jazz style and technique. The love of jazz remains, but the bug to play it died pretty quickly. All of which is to say it's been virtually unplayed since.
I'm simply thinning the herd now. Sadly, this one needs to move on.

The previous owner removed the pick guard, for reasons I never knew, and I don't have it.
Otherwise, the guitar and well-cushioned, black hardshell case are in pretty much mint  condition.
Eastman has confirmed by the serial number it's a 2012 model.

If you're on this board, I'm assuming you know about this instrument or know where to get all the information. Short story: maple laminate top, back, and sides; Kent Armstrong pickup that Eastman selected for this guitar; rosewood bridge and fingerboard; classic Florentine cutaway and mounted pickup design.

I'm asking $700 on this board. The hardshell case has minor scuffs on parts of the edging.
I'm in Fort Worth TX, and we can discuss shipping costs, etc.
Thanks for reading.

  E1OM vs E6OM
Posted by: NoiseFloor - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (7)

Hi,

Still researching and thinking about what I want for me next Eastman.  Looking at the specs, are the differences between the E1OM and E6OM are, respectively, sapele vs mahogany back/sides, open pore vs nitro finish, no neck volute?

Thanks!

  Favorite recently released Album

Hi there

I thought it would be interesting to hear which recently released Album you like a lot. Say within the last year or so. Maybe an Artist you haven't known before.

Maybe we can all discover new Artists and Music.

Just something different then Talking About the good old classics and the music and artists were better way back in the days etc.

Let me know if you think this is a cool topic or if it isn't worth having a thread.

I start with an Artist I discovered a few month ago. His Debut Album was released a year ago and I bought it just before the lockdown.
I like it quite a lot. There is something about his voice. Quite unusual. His Guitar playing is quite simple, no fancy stuff. The instrumentation also. Mostly acoustic.
Maybe it is the simplicity and the voice that makes this Album stand out for me. And maybe also that he was completely unknown to me.
Hi was born in Nairobi, Kenya and only moved to the US in 2013. Aparently he didn't play Guitar until in the US but was dreaming of becoming a musician. Quite an incredible story.

Artist: J. S. Ondara
Album: Tales of America

below a link to get an idea about this artist and his album:

  Production Date From Serial Number
Posted by: ftwlouie - Forum: Eastman Electric and Archtop Guitars - Replies (4)

I know this topic has been addressed and expanded on here on this board; I stumbled on it via Google search before becoming a board member. But I can't find the thread now.
Apologies for redundancy.
I own an Eastman 371CE Sunburst. Purchased in April 2015. SN =12pt111218348.
Can anyone tell me the production date or date it left the Pomona shop?
thanks!

Just when I think I'm out...

"they" drag me back in.

Expecting delivery of an E20D from Sun Valley Guitars (scheduled for) this Wednesday.

I'm on record as not being a fan of the Adirondack/rosewood combo, but I went against my gut and ordered the most guitar I could get for the money. Hope my gut was wrong.

  Which Eastman
Posted by: Learning - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (10)

First post.
I am very curious about these guitars. I want to upgrade with a second guitar. Currently loving my Seagull Maritime Sitka/Hog Folk, like the sound, but width 1.81”, for all fingerstyle playing. I’m thinking of something smaller and different in sound.
I’m trying to figure out OO or parlour and then rosewood or mahogany. Have not played an Eastman but they look like a good direction to head in. I have played a few Martin and Taylor but was not impressed with sound or price. Played a Yamaha AC5R that I liked.
Any ideas and help would be great. Located in Nova Scotia. Cheers
