  Interesting comparison E10OM-TCs
Posted by: TomC - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (5)

A few months back I had to sell off most of my guitars to help fund a significant home improvement expense. The one I regretted more than any of them was my E10OM-TC. Fortunately I was able to replace it. The new one is very interesting in its physical differences to my original. Some quick points I noticed
Nut size - 1.77-78" (original dead on 1.75")
String spacing @ nut - 1.52" (original 1.49")
Neck finish - it is more of matte than gloss
Back and sides color - a lot browner than red as on the previous mahogany
Color - it is quite distinctly toasted. I have attached three pics - new, original and a side by side with my E40OM.
Tone - great dry, direct mahogany sound very similar to my first one from what I remember
Playability - very easy, just like the other E series guitars

Bottom line - it is different in appearance but similar in tone and playability. (I know that's not a word) I feel the differences are just reflective of a more hand built instrument. These aren't criticisms or complaints, just observations.

  Pepijn 'tHart
Posted by: AlanSam - Forum: General Chatter - Replies (4)

Some of you might remember ex Eastman employee Pepijn t'Hart. He left Eastman rather suddenly, and I for one wondered what he was up to now. I think I have found out! He has been a singer song writer for many years, and in fact fronted a band called Clean. Now he has released his first solo album. Although I've not heared any of his music, I've found this link, and if you page through it you might recognise some of the guitars he is pictured with:-  https://www.pepijnmusic.com/

Here's my kid doing a cover of Emily by Johnnys Mandel and Mercer on his 371CE. Inspired by Julian Lage's. Through a Fender Blues Jr (with a non functioning bass pot) mic'd by an AT2020.

  ISO Eastman Ray Benson Model
Posted by: LittleRuss - Forum: Eastman Electric and Archtop Guitars - Replies (4)

It seems that Eastman has discontinued the Ray Benson signature model. If anyone has one they'd be willing to part with I am a willing buyer. Officially named the T-486RB by Eastman. Thanks!

Eastman AC 108CE Ltd is headed my way. I’m excited to get a grand concert, full scale, slotted headstock guitar. Hopefully this will compliment my rosewood dread. Hurry up Monday and get here.

  Wide headstock and tuning instabilities?
Posted by: Daniel Beckley - Forum: Eastman Electric and Archtop Guitars - Replies (9)

Hi all,

I am new to this forum and a relatively new Eastman owner. I bought a T64V with bigsby on the second hand market last year and I am truly smitten with the guitar. The only issue I have is tuning instability which I put down to string angle through the nut (especially on D & G strings) due to the wide headstock. This means having to retune after bends or light bigsby work which can become tiresome.

As far as I can tell, Eastman have now moved away from the wide headstock, presumably for this reason.
Has anyone noticed the same problem and if so, do you have any advice on how to overcome the issue?

Kind regards,
Daniel

Jorma Kaukonen streaming from Fur Peace Ranch
Posted by: TomC - Forum: Guitar Videos - Replies (3)

I just found that Jorma Kaukonen has been streaming live shows every Saturday night at 7:00. Here is a link to the first one from 4/4. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=75XiVQiWvlM

The shows are mostly solo acoustic with the occasional electric and one person joining. For those of you how are not familiar with his work he started out with Jefferson Airplane, then Hot Tuna and a solo career spanning almost 60 years. He runs Fur Peace Ranch which is in Ohio and has live shows as well as a purported amazing school/camp. For what I have seen of the shows he plays slope shouldered Gibson (J50 and AJ) as well as a Flamang J35 style.

Great guy. Good stories. Absolutely amazing blues heavy acoustic guitar.

  ? Silver Creek T-170 OM
Posted by: billymo - Forum: Other Guitar Brands - Replies (2)

I bought a really good Silver Creek 0M, Model T-170, at a great price.
Might anyone know about the woods, I know the back & sides are rosewood, I am asking if the rosewood is laminated or solid wood? Also, I think I read that the top is Engleman spruce, not sitka. Any help greatly appreciated.

  New guitar
Posted by: Wardy - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (17)

Just ordered an Eastman E2D-CD
It will be my first all solid acoustic and first with a cedar top so looking forward to the combination
Current acoustic for messing about on and has been for years is a Taylor big baby which whilst has a great tone for the size does sound too bright for certain songs so I’m looking forward to the more balanced tones of cedar/ mahogany
Anyone have this newer model ?
