NGD for my E20SSV!

Brian from Sun Valley guitars delivered the guitar to me while on vacation in Phoenix. My first impressions of the guitar is that it sounds much more bassy, dry, vintage, and more throaty than any other Eastman I have ever played. The tone is much more similar to an old Gibson J45.

The finish and relicing is a very nice touch. The guitar came setup well and plays fantastic.

I don't have the time to post all my thoughts right now but the guitar is exceptional. To my ear it's the best Eastman I have heard. The guitar is just so responsive. I would put it up there with my D28 Authentic and J45 standard.

Posted this in my E3DE thread, decided it deserves its own thread. Apparently, all new Eastman dreads are sized differently than they used to be.

Does anyone have any experience with swapping out tuners on an E2D, or any E series for that matter? I just want it to be a drop-in replacement. I really don't want to have to do any drilling/reaming or mods. Just want a drop-in. I've read that Schallers, some Gotohs, and possibly Golden Age tuners will drop-in just fine. I'm wanting some cream colored buttons.

Any advice would be appreciated!

I've tried so many different re-stringing methods, and none of them ever worked well or were easy for me to do. However, I stumbled across this video below. Tried this method on my E8OM-TC last night, and it's
super easy and now my strings wind on the post like they should. Super easy method! Figured I'd share.

Hi, I have two Eastman flat tops - an E20-P bought in 2019, and an E40-00 bought in 2020.
Both are said to have adirondack (red spruce) tops, and the backs and sides are, according to the web-site "Solid rosewood" 

Even after my many years behind flat tops I'm not always sure tat I can tell the difference between sitka and Adi,  but I'm very happy with the guitars, Eastman, Collings and others.

Eastman seems to have access to prettier rosewoods than many of the US made brands, and it makes me wonder.

Where is all this adirondack coming from when it has long been said that it is in short supply?

With some rosewoods is under Cites control - where does this delightful rosewood come from - is it EIR, or some other wood similar to EIR?

Anybody know?

After a month of back and forth deciding  which one did I want between the AC122-2 Bk, E2OM Bk or the E2D-Bk I finally pulled the trigger and bought the E2D-Bk. I've considered a Cedar top for a while and I know a lot of you DON'T like this flat black top. Some have referred to it as Halloweenish ,other just plain ugly, but for me, the first time I saw it, it "scratched an itch" I've had for a Black guitar for many years. I'm NOT a big fan of the high gloss top guitars so that flat black was what I was looking for.. Above all, it's an Eastman!!!

 I don't have actual pictures yet as I won't receive it until Tuesday the 14th.

I did my first tinkering with my AC422CE besides playing it (which I have done a lot of in my first month or so of ownership).  

The G-tuner was catching, so I replaced the factory Ping RM 1171-CVR tuners with Gotoh SG301-20 tuners.  They were a drop in replacement and feel 100x nicer, even on the strings where the Pings were working fine.  I wanted to spring for the Schallers (M6-90 I think would be the model), but they were too spendy for me at nearly $150.  The gotohs were less than $50 on reverb.

I also discovered a small crack in the bridge, so I lightly sanded and filled the cracks with super glue.  Then I scraped off the excess and sanded the whole bridge to 1500 grit.  Finally, I hit it with some fretboard oil.  I also put in bone bridge pins (cosmetic) and changed the strings to DR Rare phosphor bronzes.  I haven't tuned them to pitch yet as I'm making sure the glue on the bridge has cured, so I'm excited to play it again tomorrow.

My last planned "mod" is to install a strap button on the heel of the neck.  I could have done that today as well, but I chickened out.  I think I'm going to install one on my Fender AG15 first to make sure I have the technique down.    Something about drilling into a $1000+ guitar makes me think twice.

Any rumblings of new Eastman models to be introduced in next month's NAMM show? I know another poster talked about a Ziricote model. Any rumors on that one or any others??

Hi all - does anyone know the allen wrench size I should use to adjust the truss rod on an Eastman acoustic?  I searched EGF but didn't see mention of it.
