As I've been working on my jazz chops, I've also been sorting out the best "fit" for my wants/needs. Ergonomics come into play on an archtop, and they can be somewhat fiddly compared to solid bodies. For those playing along at home, the scorecard so far:
Romeo - loved the sound, didn't love where it sat on my knee. It is one of the deep neck designs that shifts the bridge back. With the way I play and hold the instrument, it ends up with funky balance and wants to slip off my leg. Sold it to a happy new owner for a good price (well, good for him).
AR603CED-15 - there are things I initially really liked about this: all solid/carved, great fit/finish, plays/sounds great, is about the same size as my OM acoustic albeit not quite as deep. All good until I got curious about a 16" body instrument, which is where I now have landed. I did determine that I do prefer having the depth under 3", but over 2". This one is up for sale.
AR580CE - got this used and it didn't have a mark on it, '22 build as far as I can tell. I did have to shim the tailpiece to get the bridge to sit where I want it but arch tops can be fiddly. Put TI flats on it and am tuned to my normal Eb. Sounds like a proper jazz box, and I found that I really liked the 16" body - this one is 2-9/16" deep. That got me curious about Pisanos.
AR380CED (the latest entry) - showed up yesterday, purchased new. It came with 11s which are a non-starter for me since I typically am tuned flat. Swapped to 12s and did some minor tweaks. Great ergonomics, plays and sounds great. Since it is all laminate it should cover the louder situation and will do the rock thing as well.
Of course that has me pondering an AR880CE but that's another story. Anywho, the new kid in town:
