Been working a lot on old timey tunes lately, melody notes only on acoustic and there's so many cool moves in these old tunes. Went back and got Arkansas Traveler and Alabama Jubilee down a few days back and now on to Tim doing this old Dylan tune trying to learn just the melody on acoustic. A work in progress but almost there. But a truly great tune...

Hey guys, because I opened Pandora’s box, took the blue pill, and drank the Kool-Aid, I couldn’t resist purchasing this Eastman AC812ce from GuitarCenter (oh no, not another one). Even though I’ve gotten some great deals from Guitar Center on my Eastman collection, this was not necessarily a great deal, but just a guitar that I really desired. I love the wood purfling/binding along with rare Sunburst finish and the fact that it’s a orchestra model, and not made anymore with those finish features.
This is one of the sweetest sounding guitars currently in my collection even though I have some fine guitars but most of the guitars I have are new and not broken in. It’s interesting to me to finally experience the broken in/aged flavor that’s discussed so much on this board.
Overall for an 11 year old guitar, it is in nice shape. It has a few minor scuffs and bumps and swirling but understandable for an older guitar but one area of concern is the neck and nut. I believe the cracks in the attached photos are just finish cracks but I am not sure and I don’t know if:
1. there were crack issues and they had to repair the nut
2. or they decided to change the nut and caused the cracks
3. or worst case scenario there is damage to the neck.
The neck doesn’t feel compromised at all, I can just barely feel (really almost don’t feel at all) the cracks when I slide my hand up over them.
After receiving the guitar last night and seeing the cracks I was sure that I would return the guitar but I proceeded to play it, and play it, and play it and realized how sweet of a guitar it is, I just didn’t want to put it down. I really want to get everyone’s opinion and thoughts about the best course of action. Is it damage that I should be concerned about? I know value is in the eye of the beholder but I paid $1600 for this guitar and wonder if I should just pass and hope another one crosses my path down the road.

My feelings are if there were no noticeable issues with the guitar, that it would be a 100% keeper but with the neck concerns, I’m not sure. Also, there is a picture or two of the bridge that has some white underneath it. Not sure if that is normal for an aged Eastman at the bridge.

I value and appreciate anyone’s opinion concerning this and hopefully the pictures give you enough info to see the problem.

Just wanted to add that the action when I received it was spot on. No buzzing whatsoever up and down the neck and very low action and feels wonderful to play.

Hello All - I am intrigued with the new Walnut slope shoulder but am skeptical of the "distressed" thing - If I wanted a beat-up looking guitar I can take care of that on my own - I have a rich history of "distressiing" (unintentionally) most of the guitars I have had - anyway, I would appreciate any thoughts / comments on this model - Is it possible to get one that is not "distressed"? Do they look cheezy? How about the topcoat? High gloss? Thanks !!

Yesterday I created a post complaining about the fret length on my DT30GACE guitar. I may have fingered the wrong suspect. It never occurred to me that the previous owner might be the culprit. I need to apologize for jumping the gun with my accusation. It is entirely possible the previous owner decided to mess with perfection and hired a luthier to reduce the frets and then the luthier got carried away.

When I got the guitar the wiring inside had come loose. Near the battery a clip had fallen off and was dangling from the wire. A wire was not in the clip in another location and another clip that was supposed to contain three wires, only held two while one dangled loose. Rather than problems from the factory, this may indicate the previous owner messing around inside, possibly removing the pickup system and then reinstalling when deciding to sell the guitar. And it is possible that the owner may have decided to sell because the fret reduction issue made playing a pain due to the bass string slipping off the neck.

In California, just inland from the coast, our weather does not result in huge swings of humidity and temperature so necks are fairly stable. In a place with dry winters and humid summers, necks can swell and shrink with the weather and the fret ends may have felt sharp at one point causing the owner to decide they needed work.

So I'm unable to cast blame. I can however, complain about the fret length, because that is definitely a problem. I'll be taking it to a trusted luthier in a few hours.

I'm downsizing, have picked up too many acoustics lately, and I just don't play electric at all anymore. I'm putting in the Reverb links because I'm lazy, but if someone from the forum wants them contact me here for better pricing.  Thanks for looking!!

So I have an AC320 that I bought used a few years ago.  I'm curious how old it is--does it sound this good because it IS this good, or in part because it has "opened up".

The serial number is 11055599.

How old is this guitar?

Hello all, I just found this forum yesterday and I'm pleased to find such a place that has so much Eastman knowledge.

I currently own 2 Eastmans, both dreads.  About 3 years ago I purchased a near-mint AC320 used at a local shop.  Its absolutely beautiful, and the first solid body acoustic I've ever owned--I previously played mostly Fender Strats.

And then about 2 years ago I bought a near-mint E20D in sunburst.  This guitar is amazing too! 

I had read in other forums about Eastmans, and how well they stacked up against other solid body acoustics, but I'm amazed that the reviews I had read were true.  What amazing guitars.

I'm now hooked on Eastmans.  I think my next acoustic will be a TC dread of some kind.  There's a E20D TC in Moroccan Rosewood at a local shop that is one of the sweetest guitars I've ever played.

For sale is a 2021 Eastman E1D in excellent condition.  Setup and plays great.   It has a K&K Pure Mini pickup, strap button in correct spot on underside of heel and the bridge has been slotted and reamed for solid ebony bridge pins.  This would make a great gigging guitar.  

This model is solid Sitka top with solid Sapele back and sides.  Based on the color of the top along with the sound I believe this could be a torrefied Sitka top.  They have been randomly using torrefied tops on all models since supply chain stresses during the pandemic.  It features a nice medium C 1 3/4" nut width and 2 5/32" bridge spacing.  Comes with Eastman branded soft sided case (very nice).
