It seems no one has played one of these, and being unable to get to a dealer to try for myself I decided to take the plunge.
My E1 OOSS-SB arrived today from Mak's Guitars in London (exemplary service from Mak as usual). I wanted a small-bodied guitar to throw in the car when we go away for breaks and as has often been said, the Eastman E1/E2 ranges offer as good value to quality as anything out there. I wasn't sure about the 1.72" nut, but having tried the E10 and E20 versions recently I was happy I'd be ok with which proved to be the case.
It's a lovely instrument, well-balanced across the strings with a very nice tone, and set up very well. The gig bag it comes in is good quality too, plenty of padding.
On first impressions I'm going to be very happy with this guitar. Really comfortable to play and sounds great with more bass than I'd have expected from an instrument this size. It's a couple of weeks ago now, but while I would have loved to have taken the E20 OOSS/v that I tried home with me, fabulous instrument, I actually think I prefer the tone of the E1 to the E10 OOSS.
