Thumb Picks Anyone?
Posted by: vashondan - Forum: General Chatter - Replies (6)

Any of you guys use a thumb pick?  I'm drawn to the boom chuck sound and thought I'd start experimenting.  Seems a bit awkward but I'm sure with time it'll get easier.   What are the distinctions between them?  I mean are there different thicknesses and materials for different sounds like regular picks?  I picked up a Dunlop medium for starter.

Any thoughts would be welcomed?

  LR Baggs Anthem Pickup
Posted by: cjhorne - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (13)

I am thinking about replacing the stock LR Baggs UST in my AC422CE with the LR Baggs Anthem system, which uses an internal microphone as well as an under saddle transducer.  I would like to hear from anyone who has installed the Anthem system in their guitar.  I think it should be a pretty easy swap, except I wonder how the internal wiring is secured, how difficult it would be to remove the old wiring and secure the new wiring.  Can the internal wire fastening devices be reused?

(My question is not about what pickup system you prefer.  It is about your experience in installing the LR Baggs Anthem.)

Thanks
CJ

  DR Rare PB lights
Posted by: SasquatchLife - Forum: General Chatter - Replies (11)

I recently purchased some DR Rare Phosphor Bronze light strings, and installed them on my Eastman E8OM-TC. All I can say is WOW. I've tried several different brands on my E8OM-TC, and these DR Rare are exceptional.

These strings really have such a great projection, and I still hear the wood of the guitar vs hearing all strings. The tone is fantastic. I don't know how to describe the tone in an eloquent way, but it's just a game changer IMO.

Anyways, I believe several members here on EGF recommended DR Rare for Rosewood guitars and it definitely didn't disappoint. Thank you!

Highly recommend these strings!

As an early Christmas gift my wife gave me the go ahead to order an Eastman AC422CE.

I’m going to order via phone from Chicago Music Exchange tomorrow, and ask them to install a second strap button before they ship it.

Woo Hoo! Happy phy is happy!

  Strings and Beyond Black Friday

This is probably already old news, but I got an email this morning for S&B's Black Friday sale starting today - 15% off your entire order. The code at check out is BF15.

Also - I have a set of Santa Cruz Parabolic Mid Tension strings that I would like to give away to a good home. I had bought them for my maple AC622CE. I have other strings I prefer on other guitars, so I have no need for them. Just PM me with an address and I will pop them in the post.

  New Eastman Day!

Picked up my SB56 today. Blimey! What a guitar! The only thing I have to complain about is the fact that the pickups are screwed down. I can't seem to raise or lower either of them. Is this normal? I would like to try either raising the bridge, or lower the neck, pickup.

  Ac322ce or ac308ce
Posted by: Huw - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (9)

Hi all
Been trying to find out the difference between the ac308 ltd and ac.322ce.
It seems to me it just might be the headstock or perhaps one is sapele and one is mahogany. Would love to get one before Christmas, but uk guitar shops are not answering emails at the moment.
Thank you
Huw

  Pickguard for Eastman SB56
Posted by: codedognz - Forum: Eastman Electric and Archtop Guitars - Replies (8)

I am a relative newbie to the Eastman world, having purchased my first one (T484) back in May 2021. I'm lining up an SB56 at the moment, should be in my local store to try out some time next week.

I'm interested in potentially interested in putting a pickguard on it. Yes, I fully realise this is not to everyone's taste and, despite this being about my taste, there'll be plenty of people who will express theirs  Big Grin  So, that aside, has anyone successfully done this? If so, where did you source your pickguard?

Many thanks,
Dany.

  Blueridge BG140
Posted by: AlanSam - Forum: Other Guitar Brands - No Replies

For the Brits on this site, there are some good deals to be had at Hobgoblin music (as discussed today elsewhere on this site). I have personally owned a Blueridge BG140 solid Mahogany b&s, Sitka top slope dread and found it to be a good guitar, especially for the price. Acceptably resonant, quite punchy when you need it. It's a bit of a looker too if you like that kind of thing. But the 1 11/16" nut was a tad narrow for me, and I had to buy my own case. But still good value for money. So if you are in the market for a slope hog dread this may be worth a look-see:

The associated blurb says 1 7/8" nut width - this has to be wrong.

I have never played the Eastman E1D dread which I guess is the closest Eastman spec/price wise (although it is square shouldered and has a 1 3/4" nut). It is about £50 more expensive than the BG140 (saleprice), but comes with a padded gig bag.

Anybody played both?
