Guitar support suckers on gloss finish on Eastman E6, 8, 10 20 etc
Posted by: Yinyang - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (7)

Hello all

I use a guitar support with suckers (the Gitano support:  https://www.spanishguitar.com/Product/14...st_Gitano/) as I like to play with the guitar brought closer to me.  My current guitar, a Tanglewood TSM2, has a standard gloss finish (not sure what kind) and I've used the suckers with no problem on staying put, or leaving marks, and that's over several years.

I am looking at getting an Eastman OM (still not sure which one, but it'll be an E6, 8, 10 or 20) and wondered about the finish on those guitars.  How durable is it and has anyone used any kind of guitar support which uses suckers, on their Eastman?

Thanks for your experiences

Any European members looking for a decent dread might find this used FOTA Adirondack/EIR Blueridge BR160A interesting:

If a similar guitar was for sale in the USA, given the different tax regimes, I would expect it to be priced around $929 dollars (note: I am not converting £929 to $ using any exchange rate)

No preference for cutaway vs non, electronics vs none. Any 820 of 2014-2017 vintage I’m interested in.

If anyone has, knows of, or runs across one please let me know. Thanks!

  New Member New Eastman
Posted by: Nozzle28 - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (21)

Hello everyone. I'm a new member and have just purchased my first Eastman yesterday and can't wait for it to arrive! It's an E6OM TC. I have been searching for my first OM size guitar and found many posts on this forum useful so thank you all for your help!
Mine is supposed to have an Alpine Spruce top. Do any of you have experience with Alpine? From my research, it is supposed to be between Sitka and Adirondack.
I will post pictures and a review once it arrives.

  Woodworm on new guitar?
Posted by: Immer Sim - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (8)

Hello,

Recently purchased an Eastman E1D and the fretboard has a couple of strange looking little holes. They don't look like typical dings that a guitar would get, aside from the fact that the guitar is new and they are located on the side of the fretboard which would be near impossible to ding. I have never seen little holes like these on a guitar, cheap or expensive. Someone mentioned woodworm to me, I had to google it.

Imgur Pictures HERE

Does anyone have any experience with this? If it is wormwood how do I know that the insects won't infect my other guitars?

Seeking advice.

Many thanks,

EDIT: Woodworm, not wormwood! Doh!

  Loose endpin
Posted by: jengstrom - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (9)

Hi folks,

The endpin on my E1D fell out of the guitar last evening. I thought about glueing, but decided to check with Eastman first. They say it’s a press fit and that I should just wrap tape around it and push it in. The way it is now, without wrapping, the endpin does not fit snugly; it’s a borderline sloppy fit. I won’t second guess Eastman’s advice, but it seems like a hokey solution.

I hadn’t ever thought about how an endpin was secured in the body of a guitar until this happened. Has anyone else had this experience?

John

  Strap pin
Posted by: Airborne - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (1)

The strap pin on my 40 OM does not fit securely into the guitar.
This causes the pin to slide out and present a potentially bad situation.
Also, I have found that attaching the strap to the pin is extremely difficult, with little room between the guitar and the pin bulb (maybe this is the reason the pin does not seat securely)?
Is there a replacement pin that would fit securely, but still offer space required to fully secure the strap?
Thanks for any replies.

Faith Guitars - play & enjoy what you have
Posted by: Mitch - Forum: Other Guitar Brands - Replies (1)

Hi there from cold but sunny Switzerland

back in partial Home Office, guess close before lockdown again.

As you might have read in other posts, I am in the process of finding a new Acoustic Guitar. Maybe the "only" Acoustic I need going forward (yeah right Big Grin)
I tried playing everythig I can, getting to know the different brands, tonewoods etc. Just trying to get an idea what I really like in tone and also in feel. Hitting shops and also meeting friends and playing their Guitars.

There have been a few models that I really enjoyed over the last couple of months. Thought the sound was very nice, also the neck and the overall feel. Certainly there have been a lot of Intruments that were build "better", more skilled Luthier and also the use of "better" materials (on paper for sure). All of them were more expensive, way more sometimes.

Then you come home and take your "old" Guitar out of its case, play a few chords and you think, mhhh not that bad at all....not at all  Cool. Maybe it is cause it feels & sounds familiar. I don't know.
I even took my Dreadnought to Shops and compared it to other Guitars. And being honest (well, I am still a beginner, maybe that plays a part as well) I never thought another Instrument was way better. They were different for sure and some I preferred but never as much to trade in my "old" companion and walk out with a new Guitar.

At least for me, at the moment, it does mean: Enjoy what you have!

I know it is cliché but sometimes we forget or don't see anymore what we have in our current Guitars.
That doesn't mean I wont get another Dread soon  Angel . There are certain things I got to prefer, wider nut 1 3/4, beefier Neck shape but talking tone, my Dread sounds nice and sweet. Played softly even though a dread, it sounds fantastic, better than most of the big names I played in the shops. Maybe it is the Engelmann spruce, which is known for delivering when played gently, on the other hand it has its limits when digging in (frankly for home use, I hardly ever get to its limits - but it does leave me wonder why Engelmann has been used for a dread. I wont complain though), maybe it is the bolt on neck, who knows.
Also the build is very clean, inside you can barely see any glue, the joints fit perfectly and everything seems flawless. Also not heavy build, certainly lighter than my Eastman.

Don't ask me why I came up with this thread, maybe cause both my Kids have "chickenpox" (I had to google, hope it is the correct term) so you can imagine the "circus" at home at the moment. Maybe it is cause I realised that what I have is doing all I need and some. So take the Guitars you haven't played in a while or the ones you think of selling out of their cases and give them a spin.

here the specs and some pics of my oldest Guitar (out of two  Wink, the other being the Eastman E8OM which I also really enjoy lately)

Faith Saturn Hi-Gloss Dreadnought (discontinued w/o cutaway and electronics)
2014 Model
Engelmann spruce top solid
Indonesian Rosewood b&s solid
Mahagony 3 piece (I think) neck / Patrick James Eggle Bolt-On Design
Macassan Figured Ebony fretboard & bridge
Ebony pins w abalone dots
Grover Rotomatic Gold tuners with Ebony knobs
Tusq saddle and nut
solid flamed maple binding
Bracing Patrick James Eggle X-Brace Design / Hand-Scalloped Quarter-Sawn Spruce
2 way trussrod
think finish is poly
and a nice hard case

I think, for a Guitar in this price range, very nice specs indeed.

I paid CHF 950.- a few years ago new. I think prices gone up quite a bit since.
