Changing pickguard on E10ss/v
Posted by: Big-E - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (6)

I've recently purchased a used E10ss/v. Absolutely fantastic guitar (even with the narrow nut!). As I said in a previous post, I'm looking at changing the tiger stripe guard for a black bat-wing. Got a price from Holter and also contacted Eastman to see if they can supply the pick guard.  The only problem I can see is that the top of the tiger stripe guard at the bridge end lines up under the B string whist the bat-wing sits just below the E. So if swapped over there would be a previously hidden area left uncovered by the new guard. I wonder if it is possible to remove any adhesive residue from the french polish without damaging the finish? I'd be very interested to hear if anyone has attempted this with the antique varnish finish? (I suppose one solution would be to ask Holter to make an oversized guard). Thanks for your time.

  Recommendations for first non-dreadnought?
Posted by: Grendel - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (15)

So as the title states, I've only ever owned dreads when it comes to acoustics.  When I recently bought my E-6D-TC alpine I was sorely tempted to consider other options just to see what the differences are like.  I opted instead to stick with a new dread as a clear upgrade to the Seagull I had been playing.

So my question is, as a person who is largely ignorant about the smaller body styles - what their designs are intended to optimize, their history, etc. - I'm wondering what smaller Eastmans I should focus on to start my research?  I was thinking I could keep an eye out for used listings in case a good deal comes along on one.

Thoughts?

  Anyone played the AC308CE LTD?
Posted by: MrMustard - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (8)

Hey guys, first post here. I've been enjoying my E20D-TC but am itching for something more comfortable for fingerstyle. Has anyone tried the AC308CE LTD? What were your impressions? Eastman's website used to list the scale length at 25.4" but now that the guitar is towards the bottom of the page the scale length is listed as 24.9". I contacted Eastman but never got a response.

Edit: Looks like 24.9" is the correct scale length. Now I really want to try one out.

  E20D-TC For Sale - $1100
Posted by: jphenderson91 - Forum: For Sale / Trade and Online Deals - Replies (3)

SOLD.

For sale is my 2019 E20D-TC. I am just posting it here on this forum this week to see what the interest is and later I will post it local if it hasn't sold.

The reason I am selling is because I bought an Alpine E8D-TC and I don't need two Eastman Rosewood dreads.

The guitar is in good overall condition. No major issues other than a couple years of light playwear. Action is low without any fret buzz. This one has NITRO Smile

The guitar is loud and clear. It has opened up quite a bit over the last couple of years. Powerful bass and shimmering highs. The plugged in tone is also very good. I have used it live at my church a handful of times and it sounds as good as my D-18 live.

Note, the original pickguard started to slightly peel off about a year in so I upgraded it to a custom Holter guard (D28 Style) which cost me $60. This pickguard looks way better than the original and it has beveled edges.

The guitar has been properly humidified for all of its life and has no cracks or other structural issues.

I am asking $1100 net to me. Buyer pays shipping cost. If you want the LR Baggs Anthem SL that is installed in it the price will be $1300. If not, I will take the pickup out and it will be ready for whatever pickup you like.

If you're interested please email me at joshuapaulhenderson1@gmail.com

I can email you more detailed pictures or answer any questions you may have.

Serious inquiries only. No international shipping. US buyers only.

Here is your chance to save $700 on this fantastic guitar. Price is firm as it is priced well under market value.

Eastman bolt on neck video (by The Acoustic Shoippe)
Posted by: cjhorne - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (12)

I realize that Eastman bolt on necks have been discussed here before.

It seems strange to me that, according to the video, the bolt on neck is a cost reduction.  They say this is because it can be manufactured with lower skilled employees than the dove tail joint.  OK, I can buy that.  But...why then is it appearing on the higher end Grand Auditoriums first?  I would have expected that, as a cost reduction, it would go on the lower end models first because they are more price sensitive.

Regardless, it is a very interesting video.

Also, in the video, The Acoustic Shoppe claims to be the largest Eastman dealer in the world.  I didn't know that!

What Strings for Adirondack topped Eastman?
Posted by: jphenderson91 - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (11)

Here is my issue. After comparing my new Alpine E8D-TC to my older E10D-TC (2017) and E20D-TC (2019) the older Adirondack tops still feel quite stiff and metallic. I am hoping some new strings might liven things up.

Here's the other string issues I am facing.

I like the tone of uncoated strings, but the longevity of coated/treated strings.

Uncoated strings seem to sound better at first, but then go dead with a week for me. On the other hand, coated/ treated strings seem to sound less lively and more metallic, but last a longer time.

To make things more complicated the string guage seems to be a big factor for my Adi tops as well.

Lights feel good to mu fingers, but they don't drive the top very much. Mediums give me great volume but feel even more tight. So I am looking at more Medium-Light sets or something with a tension of around 175lbs.

Martin Retro Monels Laurence Juber come pretty close to the tone I am chasing, though not perfect.
I am also considering Martin Lifespan 2.0 12-54.

Anyway, what strings and guage do you use on your Adi Eastman's to make them feel alive?

Do your tops sometimes feel as stiff as mine?
