For Sale - 2021 E8DTC w/ Alpine Spruce - SOLD
Posted by: DimEyeGuitarGuy - Forum: For Sale / Trade and Online Deals - Replies (3)

Howdy folks. Well, I'm selling my 2021 E8DTC w/ Alpine Spruce top. I purchased this guitar in November 2021 from Penny Lane in Florida. This guitar was a replacement for my E6DTC that I sold on here around the same time.

This guitar is in mint condition, kept in a smoke-free home and never been out of the house except for delivery. So why am I selling? Well, I just bought a D18.. so I'm selling this to help offset cost.

I am also posting this on Reverb at a little higher price over there... For EGF members, I will let it go for $1050 SHIPPED to the continental US only. I'm happy to discuss or answer any questions you may have.

Regards,
Tom

I Purchased my 5th Eastman Acoustic Today, Alpine Content
Posted by: jphenderson91 - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (9)

Hi everyone, I have been away for some time now. I've been busy being a new Dad.

Anyway, this past week I picked up my E20D-TC after not playing it for months. Man, it really woke up! It's one of the best acoustics I own now.

That got me thinking about Eastman's again and after countless hours of reading this forum, watching YouTube reviews and some late nights on Reverb I pulled the trigger on my 5th Eastman Acoustic.

I went with one of the Swiss Alpine E8D-TC models.
The limited nature of these tops without any markup was just too good to pass up.

I probably won't be getting the guitar until the end of the week so in the meantime tell me about your Swiss Alpine spruce tops!

Also, I tried attaching some pictures but I got an error that said the file size was too large.

  Interesting Experience 822ce-ff
Posted by: Jklotz - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (11)

So I've had my 822ce-ff for about 10 months now. I use it for alt and drop tunings as my gigging guitar. I've never been crazy about the tone acoustically. Just too quiet and not very responsive, despite having the sound port. It works live because it sounds great plugged in with that LR Baggs Anthem, so I rarely take it out of the case unless I'm at a gig. Plus it really stable and holds tune well, which to me, is ultra important for a live guitar, especially when tuned down to C.

Last week, a friend PM'd me over on AGF and said he had one of those tone-rite things he wasn't using and wanted to know if I wanted to borrow it for a while. I'm generally pretty skeptical of those sorts of things. I have no idea what it's doing to my guitar and no way I'd use it on the high end ones. But this 822ce-ff, well, I really want to love it, but I don't. So I figured what have I got to loose? So I stuck it on yesterday and turned it on full blast and left it over night.

Now I don't want to start a debate about these things. I don't know what it is doing to a guitar. You can feel it vibrating the entire guitar. The strings, the neck, back, sides, top - the whole thing. I have to say today, after about 11 hours on it, the guitar is louder and more responsive. It's still not my favorite guitar, but it seems to be a lot more pleasing to play. I'm going to keep it on there for a while. My buddy recommended a week. Maybe this is the answer for that guitar? I'm really curious about it now.

  Eastman Proving its worth
Posted by: SasquatchLife - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (8)

Yesterday I stopped by the best and largest guitar shop in my area, and no it wasn't a Guitar Center. They have an outstanding selection of guitars. I had some time to kill so figured I'd stop by. While I was there, I played several vintage Martins including a hog top 1937 00-17, 1930s 000-18, and a 1970s D-28. I also played a newer D-18 and 000-18.

I then played a few Taylor's including a 618ce, AD27, and AD22.

I'm trying not to exagerrate here, but I don't think any of those guitars sounded any better than my E8OM-TC. The newer 000-18 was the best of the bunch, but not sure I'd trade my Eastman for it.

As usual, the Taylor's disappointed quite a bit and sounded thin.

I was shocked that the vintage Martin 00-17 and 000-18 didn't sound better. Granted, they had old strings but still. I realize usually a Vintage Martin will sound superior but they certainly didn't yesterday.

Anyways, I know Eastmans are fantastic guitars but I never thought my Eastman could hold up or even sound better than a Vintage Martin.

Just goes to show how fortunate we are to get such an outstanding guitar at such a low price.

Long ago my first good guitar was a Martin D18. Since then I’ve owned many guitars and moved away from the dreadnought size. To my surprise, I ended up with an Eastman E6D-TC Alpine and find that I love the sound (and even the size) of this guitar. The neck is so comfortable and the workmanship is very good. Thinking I’ll double my pleasure, I got a used E10OM. It also has a wonderful neck and the mahogany is very attractive. Now I’m in a quandary. I need to sell one and like them both!

Stock Pup on my 2005 Uptown 810ce

What a nice acoustic sound, but the pickup is harsh. I've tried to tame it with some eq, but the midrange is so prominent that it almost clanks.

I've read some stuff on these pages, but I want to get opinions from potentially new members as well.

What floating, side mounted pup would you recommend? I'd like something really smooth and warm.

Eastman scarf neck joints? Pics added
Posted by: Al30906 - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (12)

Does Eastman use a scarf joint for their necks? My E10ss has one, is this common with Eastman guitars? Is this the scarf joint where the demarcation lines are on the headstock? Thank you Al.

NGD - Eastman PCH3-GACE Pacific Coast Highway in Maple

Hi all,

I have had the PCH1OM (small body, Sitka/sapele ply) and PCH2GACE (grand auditorium, Sitka rosewood ply) so will start by comparing this model to those.

First off, the gloss finish on the PCH3 is far superior to the matte, open pore finish of the two lower models. This no longer appears to be a budget guitar.

I actually bought two of these, and gave the better one to my new son-in-law as a gift. His had even better looking spruce on top, but this is very adequate by all standards for a sub-$1k guitar.

The tone is where this really shines. Whereas the 1 and 2 (great guitars in their own right!) were a bit rubbery or unfocused, and perhaps a bit over ripe, this has a solid center, it is brilliant and has excellent projection. It easily cuts through a mix of other instruments or voices in an acoustic environment.

In fact, it’s shockingly good. No doubt it must be 3-ply maple, as the usual poplar filler for the middle ply is what I think the bit of fuzzy sound comes from with lesser guitars.

It reminds me a bit of my AC622CE - the colouration of the maple back, sides and neck no doubt contributing to the tonal similarity.

In all, this guitar is a winner. I have absolutely nothing to complain about, at any price, but especially at its point. More money will buy you more richness and response, but this is a great guitar on its own merits, without apologies.

Thanks for reading!
