AC108ce Ltd or E3DE
Posted by: RCCjr - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (4)

I have an opportunity to trade my used AC 108 ce Ltd for a new E3DE.  I like my AC 108 but just don't love it.  Has anybody played the E3 and have an opinion or review of it.  I would play the E3 before trading but don't want to waste my time if some of you have had negative experiences with the guitar.

  Eastman AC822ce 2021 Model w/arm bevel and soundport - $1700
Posted by: syd2aussie - Forum: For Sale / Trade and Online Deals - No Replies

2021 Eastman AC822ce - Arm Bevel, soundport - LR Baggs Anthem  $1700 net to me, shipping and paypal fees to buyer.

Mint condition other than a few super light tiny scratches on back (see Reverb photos). Essentially an handmade guitar that is set up perfectly and sounds great in addition to being quite beautiful. An incredible quality guitar at a bargain basement price! The quality of construction is on a par if not better than the Taylor's I've owned. Playability is excellent.

I own too many Eastmans. I recently purchased an AC630 jumbo which is amazing so this one needs a new home.

  E8OM-TC
Posted by: GK34 - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (4)

Hello Eastman Fans,

I have not posted much here, but I love Eastman guitars and have read many of the threads here. I am finally in the market for an OM and have narrowed things down to the E8OM-TC. Has anyone had experience with both the Sitka version and Alpine version?

I really like the dark Sitka tops visually, yet I would probably go with the Alpine if there was a significant difference in the clarity with fingerstyle playing. Neither of these are available locally, so I cannot try them prior to buying. I had an E20OM a while back, and the main reason that I ended up selling it was pretty tight sounding and I found myself wishing it sounded warmer especially when strumming. Had I been more patient and kept it, it would probably sound great today. Anyway, I am thinking a TC model will probably eliminate these concerns, and I am just debating between Sitka and Alpine.

Thanks in advance for any input!

  Through Saddle Slot
Posted by: PeteD - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (8)

I'm a sucker for the look of a traditional 'through' saddle slot like on old Martins and now seen on some traditional model guitars.  Not sure why, but I just love the look of it on dreadnaughts in particular.  So much so that I have thought about seeing if a good luthier could modify the saddle slot on my beloved E8D.

To my surprsie while I was surfing around on Facebook Marketplace I saw that there is an E20om posted in Kileen Tx that has a through saddle slot.  I don't live in Texas, nor do I have a facebook account.  In fact, Zuckerberg had one of his employees call me to tell me that that tracked down the remaining 8 people on the planet who do not have a facebook account, and I was one of them. (joking of course...I digress).  So I can't ask the seller if they did this aftermarket or if it came that way.

Has anyone seen a stock Eastman that had a through saddle slot?  I'm thinking about lining up on one of their Adi/Madi models coming out this summer.  That would be a perfect model to route the saddle slot through!!!  In case anyone at Eastman is listening.  :-)

There are Songs (and Albums) you love and listen to regularly. And there are performances that are just fantastic and you re-watch them countless times.

Here is one of mine.

  A Need for Eastman Transparency
Posted by: jphenderson91 - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (13)

I want to start out by saying I love Eastman guitars. I love the value they are passing into their customers and I have been pretty happy with most of the changes over the years. I've been for Eastman trying new things like switching up the finish (Nitro to Trutone) and trying new tops on their guitars (Swiss Alpine, because Swiss Alpine is awesome!!)

However...I think we can all agree Eastman needs to do a better job making these changes transparent to their customers. At the very least they need to have a way to denote the changes to their dealers before the guitars go out the door.

Maybe this is a lack of communication between China and California? I have read that even some people working in the Cali plant didn't know some of the changes Eastman was doing until they noticed the changes themselves. Is it really that difficult to denote these changes?

Furthermore, I think it's fairly obviously that one should not have to buy a guitar and wonder what the finish is. The buyer shouldn't have to try to determine if the top wood of their acoustic is Sitka or Alpine. And most recently there have been E40OM's that came with a longer scale than what the specs noted, and the dealer wasn't even aware until the customer measured it! (That's not the dealers fault, Eastman should have disclosed this) As a long time Eastman customer (9 years) this is not acceptable.

Lastly, for many guitar buyers it is important that the manufacturer publish the correct specs for each model. If Eastman must deviate from the model's specs, they need to denote these guitars as "customs" or "limiteds" to the dealer so the customer can know exactly what they are buying.

In short, I think it's time for Eastman to improve their communication and transparency in regards to these areas.

What do you think?

  E2OM-CD best at price point?
Posted by: IPA57 - Forum: General Chatter - Replies (4)

First post on this forum.
Can anyone tell me if there's a better guitar than the E2OM-CD (or E1OM) at its price point?

Came across an E2OM by chance at a local music shop.  After playing it for a half hour or so, I knew I wasn't leaving without it.

The craftsmanship and playability were perfect.
I was also  impressed with overall specs:

All solid wood construction.
Ebony fretboard and bridge.
Bone nut and saddle.
Binding top and back
Ebony bridge pins.
Decent open back tumners.

The open pore finish is well done.  I think Eastman did a better job with this type of  finish than Martin did on my 000-15M.

I would recommend this guitar for both beginners and experienced players.

  Eastman T386 review and impressions
Posted by: Meathead - Forum: Eastman Electric and Archtop Guitars - Replies (4)

Here is my Eastman T386 review.  At risk of sounding like I don't know how to be objective (given my Eastman passion) I'll come right out and say it anyway: I shouldn't have waited so long to pick up an Eastman electric!  All the characteristics we value with their acoustics also appear to hold true on the electric side, namely: fit and finish, fretwork, playability and hand crafted quality.  I haven't had this guitar very long, so I am still forming my experience, but here are my thoughts after a week of ownership.

As an aside, I truly wasn't planning on this purchase, but a deal came up locally on Craigslist that I couldn't resist.  A lot has been written about the T386, but I'll cover a few standout areas for this review:

Tone:  Interestingly, this guitar came equipped with p rails triple shot pickups, so I won't be able to provide feedback regarding the standard kent armstrong PU's that this guitar typically comes equipped with, but I can say these duncans sound great in the T386.  Given the splitting capability, I can dial in a variety of tones.  This guitar obviously excels at Jazz, which I am excited to explore more on an electric guitar.  I can also dial in a very usable and unique humbucking tone with just the flip of a switch on the pickup.  Definitely a semi-hollow body tone I'm loving.  I'm still getting acclimated to all the settings and tones, but I have found some interesting, usable configurations.  Not sure if others are familiar with this pickup combination, but I was not familiar with this set prior to purchasing the guitar.  More here:

https://www.seymourduncan.com/single-pro...t-set-flat
(I added a photo of the different PU combinations below)

Playability and feel:  This has been my biggest epiphany about the T386.  I've never owned an ES335 body style guitar, but given I spend 90 percent of my playing time on an acoustic, the size of the T386 is a very natural fit, given its larger body.  There is a comfort with how my right arm rests on the upper body, along with the angle of my left arm.

The neck is very comfortable.  I am not sure what the actual radius is, but it's a pretty flat fretboard which makes it excellent for chording.  The C shape fits my hand pretty well.  I'm not sure that I'd change anything.  Super easy access to upper frets.

Other:  I think the natural finish looks great.  No flaws in the finish that I can see.  Eastman quality obviously is present (this guitar birthdate is May 2021).  Also - I really appreciate the lighter weight of the guitar as a semi-hollow.  The Eastman case is quite nice as well.

Anyway - hope this helps with some initial feedback.  Great guitar... and yes, hopefully I can get a live video of the guitar in action soon!

Picked this up in trade for an E6D-TC Alpine and then I turned around and bought and E8D-TC Alpine which I prefer. I also pre-ordered another that will be here this summer and I definitely don't need 3 spruce/rosewood 14 fret dreads. This is a very solid guitar. It is from 2019 so nitro finish. Very good power and it can get loud in a hurry. It also doesn't have a lot of play time on it. The person I bought it from got it last year. It basically hung around the local Eastman dealer for about 1.5 years. I am assuming it will just keep getting better and better. I removed the original pick guard and went clear as I really liked the burst. The original will be included. Other than a strap button, no other modifications. Asking $900 for EGF members plus shipping and fees. Let me know if you need more pics or information. Specs are here - http://www.eastmanguitars.com/e20d/

Armrest will be removed prior to sale. Includes OHSC in excellent shape (basically never been used).
