  E20SS/V
Posted by: REHII - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (1)

I was at the Eastman dealer in Memphis.
They have gotten even more Eastman guitars in. They have 35 on display in the glass cases, plus lots of PCH models. Also Electric guitars.
And I was told they have many in the back stock room. I bet they have almost 75 Eastman guitars! That’s more than just about any other brand in their store, well except PRS electrics, they have a lot of them also!
Well I tried out a few and the one that really is getting to me is the new model E20SS/v.
it really sounds great! And it looks really different from any other Eastman models with its kinda diamond inlays.
I am going back today to play it a little more. I hope I can resist as I have way to many guitars.
And I have been wanting a Gibson advanced Jumbo with a red spruce top, and there are a couple now on reverb for less than $2500.
The price on the E20SS/V is $1899 I think, so it’s just a little more for an AJ.
I wish maybe Eastman could make a king scale round shoulder dread!?!?
Robert.

Hello folks.
Sure there are lots of Therese types of testimonials on here…but I had to share my Eastman journey to date.
I have a Martin HD-28 and a D-18 special Adi VTS, Blueridge 143, a cheapo Guild Jumbo…and have had several Taylor guitars…I also came across and Eastman Mandolin a while back which is what hot me first interested in Eastmans.

I started reading and and decided I wanted one..in particular a Sloped Shoulder. I tried out a E10ss locally and it didn’t sound bad, but was a bit rebuy for me. So didn’t pull the trigger. Then I decided to try out a regular dreadnought. Long story short, the order got mixed up and I ended up getting an e6-tc in the mail. Was going to send it back (because of obvious redundancy with my D-18)….but I started playing it…holy crap!!! I was absolutely blown away. I couldn’t send it back. I am still trying to process it…but I think I like it better than the Martin…possibly even substantially!!!

I am now in official Eastmania mode and have already ordered the E20ss (hoping the rosewood mellows it out) and will definitely be buying more of their guitars (yes, I have a problem ?). If I can find one, AC630 will happen. Also the E20ooss is on my radar…plus…have heard great things about the e8….like I said..a problem!!! ??

Anyway, just had to share. Look forward to learning from this forum.

  2011 Martin 000-28EC Very Good+ Condition $2900
Posted by: TomC - Forum: For Sale / Trade and Online Deals - Replies (2)

2011 Eric Clapton signature model Martin 000-28 small body guitar. Sitka spruce top with rosewood back and sides. Mahogany neck with soft V shape. Open gear tuners. 1.75" nut 2.25" string spacing at the saddle. Very good + to excellent condition for 10+ year old guitar. Here is a link to the Martin listing with full specs - https://www.martinguitar.com/guitars/all...-28EC.html. There are 3 very slight indentations in the lower treble side bout that are very difficult to photograph. They do not break the finish. Additions from stock - slim armrest (probably not removable), strap button on heal and Schatten HFN passive pick-up. Includes OHSC in excellent condition. Asking $2900 OBO cash, no trades. I would prefer a local sale in Minnesota, but I am willing to discuss shipping.

Why am I selling - I like to try a lot of different guitars. I practice a lot of catch and release

  NPD: Charmed Life Picks Vespel
Posted by: Zissou Intern - Forum: General Chatter - Replies (4)

I just received a CLP 1.5 Vespel Large Triangle in the mail from Scott Memmer. (Scott is member here.) It is the best pick I have ever played, so smooth and fast on the strings, and somehow so easy to grip.  I was always one to balk at expensive picks, but once you get a CLP Vespel or Casein in your hand, you don't know what you're missing. The Casein is smoother than the Vespel in tone, but the Vespel is a little crisper and gives a bit more to the edge of the note. I don't know if that makes sense.

Well, here goes. I first saw this featured on a YouTube video posted by The Acoustic Shoppe, in Springfield MO. I couldn’t get it out of my mind. Another member (thanks TerryD) mentioned he had gotten one and was very impressed, so that’s all I needed to hear. I received it (from The Acoustic Shoppe) on Monday, February 28, opened the box on Tuesday, and strummed the open strings. How long were they going to vibrate?

Ok, it sounded amazing but tight. Played more Wednesday, and today, Thursday, it’s really opening up. What a pleasure to play, and quite a beautiful guitar. Here’s some info: https://rguitars.co.uk/blogs/guitars/eas...ed-edition. I’m sure that last line clearly should refer to the 308 model, not the 322. (The “get your hands on one while you can” comment!)

I still have the shipping box, but I can’t imagine sending it back unless I find some fatal flaw in it. I do intend to remove the pickguard, and I’ve ordered EB aluminum bronze strings. Thanks to TerryD, again, for the suggestions.

The Acoustic Shoppe enclosed some goodies (no candy, though!) and an inspection card which notes “Spectacular Tone!” I agree, though I suspect they say that to all the girls. Big Grin

  Tommy Emmanuel

Two things here. Firstly, what a consummate artist Tommy E is! Seemingly effortless, until the end when he lets out a sigh:-

Secondly, interesting guitar. Tommy joined forces with Jean Larrivee to produce the Larrivee Model: C-03R-TE Tommy Emmanuel. It's a 12 fretter with a florentine cutaway and a wide 16" bout - the same as Eastman's AC range. Did you notice how big Tommy's hands are. Tommy once observed that Molly Tutt has hands like a mouse but is a world class guitarist. I think the small size of her hands dictates her playing style, with her hand mostly 'floating' over the finger board when she is being extended. Unlike Tommy who you will see periodically resting his small finger on the guitar top.

Mahogany / Sapele Specs For Eastmans
Posted by: TerryD - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (2)

Does anyone know for sure if when Eastman specifies a guitar has back and sides of mahogany that it's real mahogany and not Sapele?  Johnson String Instruments states that the AC322CE has "solid Sapele (African Mahogany) back & sides".  The Eastman site says nothing about this but does state that the back and sides of the AC122CE guitars are in fact Sapele.
