Hey Folks,
I have a question for all of you, but first a little history.
I recently sold my Martin OM18V. The V neck, and scale length were starting to bother me as my hands (along with the rest of me) are getting older. I don't care for the Martin MLO necks, otherwise I would have purchased a 000-18.
The Eastmans, spec wise, were a perfect fit. Pretty much everything I was looking for, right down to the 12" radius. So I watched and listened to a million UT video's. The E6OM's with sitka just sounded better to me than the E10OM's with adirondack. The E10's, to my ears, sounded a little harsh in the trebles, where the E6 was smooth and rich.
I've had the E6OM-TC for about a month now, and I just don't love the trebles. Specifically for fingerpicking. With a pick they sound fine. Strumming, it is in some cases, better than my J45. For fingerpicking however, It just isn't working for me. The trebles are too mellow and rounded. They lack "sparkle" for want of a better word. Maybe a better descriptor would be that they are too "wet" sounding. I want a more dry and fundamental tone. If I'm being honest, the whole guitar is a little too wet sounding for me. Arpeggios lack clarity, and can sound smeared.
So, to my question. Would the E10OM's give me what I'm lacking with the E6OM?
I know I'm going to get the "you have to go out and play one" response, but we all know how hard it is to find one in the wild these days. So I ask the question, to just get a sense of what you guys have experienced.
Thanks in advance,
Roger
