NGD first Eastman
Posted by: maxoom - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (12)

E1D my first Eastman. I had to do a slight truss adjustment to put it where I like it. I gotta say this guitar sounds fantastic and plays like a dream. It`s plenty of guitar for my skill level. Hits way above it`s price point. I did find a few super small cosmetic details, I don`t consider them flaws or blems, they are just hand made eye candy.  I picked the best one I could find for having even consistent grains.I`m so glad I bought it! Ordered a K&K pure mini for it.  The Acoustic Shoppe was a pleasure to buy from. I`m pretty sure I will be getting a E1OM next. Well that`s it for now I`m officially a new Eastman fan.

  Eastman on Sundays
Posted by: Meathead - Forum: General Chatter - Replies (7)

Hi all!

I was curious to learn how many folks here play Eastman guitars as part of a church worship team?

I'm part of a team at a local church here in AZ.  I had a chance to give my new Eastman T386 an official debut this weekend - I was super happy with the tone, I am completely thrilled with this guitar.

Luthier saws a Gibson G45 in half for in depth review
Posted by: Shishigashira - Forum: General Chatter - Replies (5)

So I was watching some of these videos because they give you ideas on how to do some basic luthier work which I find quite interesting.  Anyways, they've lately started to do some in depth reviews.

I was wondering what you get for a made in the US Gibson for about $1200.  Anyways as you can see from the video title, they were less than impressed with the quality and tone of a G45 Gibson.  The interesting thing is they actually saw the guitar in half and give you a very in depth review of the quality.  Conclusion for me is that, for my money, if I'm buying new around the $1000 to $1500, I'm staying with Eastman.  Although to be fair, they haven't sawed an Eastman in half to show us what's actually going on in there.

  Scherlter M-AG6 Pickup
Posted by: oldtone - Forum: General Chatter - No Replies

Anyone here have any experience with the Schertler pickup? I was thinking a K&K Pure Mini with an Eastman E6D-TC that I might get, especially if some more Alpine's make it to our shores. I listened to Youtube stuff with the K&K and I hear piezo quack, and that's without the piezo! The Schertler is more expensive, but with the condenser mic option especially it really sounds like an acoustic guitar! No need to set up a mic and stand, just plug the guitar into an amp.
Also, does a pickup device in the sound hole interfere with the acoustic sound? So if the guitar is not plugged in and you're just playing acoustically, does that pickup mute the sound somewhat?  Thanks, Bob

I'm just going to start out by saying these Eastman guitars are ridiculous!  I'm not going to say this guitar is great for the money because it's simply great at any price.  You could slap one of the big three's name on it and triple the price.  Okay enough Eastman cheering.

First off, fit and finish is spot on and I'm even liking the satin finish.  It has a beautiful sheen to it that has the illusion of looking glossy when you look across the top or back at a low angle where your perspective is just skimming across the surface.  I noticed this while playing because I could see a sharp reflection of my shoes.  It probably wouldn't take much to buff it out to a high gloss.  Unlike Taylor's satin finish you can see through it to the wood without glare obscuring the grain and depth.

The sound is what just floors me though.  At the risk of sounding big headed, I've owned expensive Martins and Taylor's and I'm also an audiophile so I'm very attuned to qualities of tone and sonic clarity.  I would put this sub 800.00 guitar up against the best I've owned which has it punching five times over it's price and that's compared to what I paid for them.  They're all significantly higher in price now.  I got it for 675.00.  It's better than either one of my Yairis which I paid 1500.00 and 2500.00 for.  The tone is warm and bright at the same time with lush overtones but never sounding harsh.  It sustains for days.  It's articulate on all six strings with excellent string to string separation.  This is my first guitar with Ovankol back and sides and I think I have to agree with Spoon Philips opinion that it's time to stop thinking about this wood as a cheap stand in for Rosewood.  IMO it's far prettier than Rosewood while providing all the warm, strong bass and high end shimmer but with a better midrange.  It's just balanced.  I'd love to see Eastman extend this wood into their higher end models in all the series.

So I guess this answers my question of whether or not Eastman extends the quality of their more expensive guitars down to the sub 1000.00 dollar offerings.  They definitely do.  I'm going to enjoy this guitar for a long time.

Vintage acoustics, is there anything like it?

I did watch this video a few times over the last couple of months. I like how he talks from a players perspective. Nice playing too.

Maybe you enjoy it too. A bit long but worth watching I think.

Cheers

Curious how they define "Old-Growth Alaskan Spruce".  Hopefully chapboogie can give us more info on when exactly to expect them and the number available?  I'm personally down for one really dumb guitar purchase this year and the question is  one of these or an Eastman MR E20.

  Ordered a AC222CE
Posted by: TerryD - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (7)

I just placed an order for a AC222CE.  I'm really curious to see how the Eastman quality I've experienced so far carries down to the lower prices.  I've watched and listened to a few videos of this model and as much as I don't believe Youtube videos can convey the actual sound of a guitar you can still hear the amount of sustain one has which can tell a lot about how resonant the guitar is.  If this is as good as I'm hoping it could be the greatest value of any guitar I've yet owned.  I ordered it from Muddy Rivers Guitars in Kansas, just outside of Kansas City in Atchison and they gave me a pretty good deal on it.

  E10-00SS-SB for sale
Posted by: c70man - Forum: For Sale / Trade and Online Deals - Replies (1)

Purchased less than a year ago, but my other Eastmans cover what I need and I'm gassing for an electric right now.
Excellent condition and added a $200 Baggs M1e which is included along with the HSC.

Asking $1000 delivered. I have $1600 in it but want to act quickly on another guitar. CONUS only.  MINT CONDITION

Any questions, feel free to ask.

Thanks

I was asked if I would sell the guitar without the pickup. Yes but keep in mind, it would leave a 1/2" hole were the 1/4" connector replaced the end strap pin. Cost of actual shipping would kind of determine final price. If you make an offer, pm me with a zip so I can figure out my shipping cost.
