Does any one know what type of mahogany Eastman uses. Apparently there’s like a million types? Like African, Honduran, Etc.

  Top Grain On My E10D
Posted by: John-K - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (13)

Looking at the top grain on my E10D, it looks more like Sitka spruce that Adirondack spruce. Is such tight grain pattern common on Adi spruce? It’s tight throughout the entire top. Kinda puzzling but I don’t know a ton about tonewood. I posted on the agf as well but I don’t post photos over there. Thoughts?

What Strings Do You Love On Your E10D?
Posted by: John-K - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (36)

What have you tried and what do you love? DR Rares sound great on mine. Trying Daddario PB’s now. They don’t hold up to the Rares at all. They are thinner and less lively which is odd. I’ve never considered Rares a lively string.

The new guitar arrived yesterday and what can I say, it's an Eastman.  Four Eastmans now and every single one a keeper.  Six months ago I was committed to thinning the herd, but after discovering Eastman all I want to do is buy more!  Oh well, at least it's not an addiction that's going to kill me.

  First Eastman - E10SS - some questions
Posted by: SneakyDeaky - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (8)

Hi, after years of reading about Eastman my curiosity finally got the better of me and I bought a 10SS which arrived Thursday. I want to say I am very impressed! I don't want to write proper impressions yet as I've only managed a couple of hours with it on Bank Holiday, but for the money (£925 for the actual guitar, but I had to get it shipped to the UK from Holland which added a lot of expense - could not find a UK vendor which had this model in stock) it's a very impressive guitar with this shimmering top end that is not brittle at all, really nice.

I would like to write more impressions especially after I put it through its first string change. But I also have a few questions about the guitar and I've been lurking here for a couple weeks, so I thought I would try asking them here before contacting Eastman?

The seller said it was a 2021 model but didn't specify and there were enough fingerprints and hairline scratches on the top here and there (barely noticeable) to think the guitar has been played a little bit and the film had been taken off the pickguard. The serial is M2113294

I wanted to date it to confirm whether it has the older nitro finish or not?

Which kind of material are the bridge pins Eastman uses? They look like real ebony?

The tuning heads are Ping, correct? I don't know the brand at all. If I have one criticism so far it's that trying to make the smallest adjustment, especially on the wound 3rd, is a bit like pulling a tooth! They look fine and feel light though.

And one final question; what is the scalloping like on Eastmans? Is it aggressive like Martin's HD and Authentic range or more conservative? The guitar is a cannon, boomy but I also feel like I can tame the boominess lot easier than I could my Martin HD28.

And that's another thing; it apparently shipped with the factory DAddario EXP 012-.053's, yet if you dig into this guitar it is SO LOUD! I'm usually a medium snob, occasionally using a hybrid set with a 14 high E and 57 low E, but this guitar is so loud I might actually be able to have it properly set up for COMFORT! Very pleased with that!

Many thanks for letting me post this, I lurk and occasionally post on the Martin forum and it's good there's an Eastman forum now as I get more into the brand.

  Eastman AC722CE Dakota Fade opinions?

I'm curious - what does the forum think about the AC722 "Dakota Fade" sunburst finish?  Like it?  Dislike?  Neutral?

  000-12 frets ?
Posted by: cfranchi - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (7)

Wouldn’t it be a killer guitar if Eastman would produce a 12 frets 000 guitar in the style of the Martin 000-40s Mark Knopfler limited edition guitar ?

Will we ever get to actually “touch” a Touchstone guitar?
Posted by: REHII - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (3)

Whats up with this?
They keep saying “there coming, there coming”
I still haven’t seen one.
I have several speculations.
First, Dana may not be happy with how they look or sound, and will not allow them to be sent to dealers until he fully approves.
Another speculation is that production is so slow and there are so few guitars that they may be waiting till there are enough guitars so all the dealers can get one or two.
I think they only make about 400 Bourgoius guitars a year.
Whatever the reason is , I’m sick of waiting to “touch” a Touchstone with true tone and tone right !!!

Posted by: TerryD - Forum: For Sale / Trade and Online Deals - No Replies

I don't have pictures yet but I'm selling my GS Mini Rosewood.  It's in mint condition with very little playing time on it.  I'd like to get 550.00 for it and I'm throwing in the 164.00 dollar hard SKB case especially made for it.  I'll cover shipping in the US.  Pictures coming.

  How Far Will $600 Travel..

Suggestions in the $600 range for used/new OM or GA size Eastmans. Where is the bang for the buck? Friend is looking around. I’m trying to show him the light.
