Acoustic Pickups:
K&K Pure Mini -- advantages: no battery needed; sounds more 'acoustic' than undersaddle strips; disavantages: install can be a hassle; really helps to have an acoustic pre-amp
Schatten HFN Passive -- advantages: no battery needed; sounds more 'acoustic' than undersaddle strips; disavantages: lower output than the K&K Pure mini; REALLY needs an acoustic pre-amp

  Stemac prices and shipping
Posted by: TerryD - Forum: General Chatter - Replies (1)

Fare warning, I'm about to start complaining.  I've been wanting to try a Zero Glide nut for a while now and went to the Stewmac site to order one.  It was going to cost me 47.71 plus 11.00 shipping and with tax it came to 62.50.  Eleven dollars to drop something in an envelope that would cost them maximum maybe a buck to mail to me.  So I thought I'd check out the source themselves and went to the Gold Tone Music Group site, who makes them, to check their prices.  It cost me 34.99 with free 2nd day air!  Won't be going back to Stewmac again.

Just found this on AGF.  Looks like much cheaper prices for shipping.

  Anyone have a DT Guitar?
Posted by: TerryD - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (7)

I'd like to hear from any of you who have one of the DT series of guitars.  I'm most interested in the OM but discussions about any of them are welcome.

Music E10 00 SS/v tapping the top tones
Posted by: Archizing - Forum: General Chatter - Replies (2)

Well I have had my lovely E10 00 SS now for about 4 months or so. Wow.

The top and back are so resonant. When others play guitars around me it acts like a speaker, and vibrates. Tapping the top, and back, just with my finger tips brings out lovely tones, a bit like those clever luthiers do when explaining tap tones, only more so. If anyone is any doubt about a this wee guitar, it has plenty of base, is supremely balanced, and lovely mid tones.

The trebles are clear with this Adi top, as expected. I would say the mid tones come from the top and from inside the body, the highs mainly the top, and in the last couple of months the bass comes from everywhere!

  Reverb Scam Warning
Posted by: TerryD - Forum: General Chatter - Replies (9)

I want to share this with everyone in hopes that it will help deter anyone from falling victim to anything similar.

I recently got a notification from Reverb for a deal on a 'McPherson Guitar 5.0XP Redwood and Macassar Ebony' that immediately seemed too good to be true at $1,435.11. I did message the seller however, to see why he was selling it for such a low price and he responded that he needed to get it sold quickly. Asking him more questions, he was well versed in guitar terminology and came across as legit. Soon after I saw the guitar was no longer available, so someone went for it.

A few days later I get a message from the owner of the account saying he had been hacked and not to buy anything from his account. I've been in contact with him over that last week getting the scoop on what happened and the poor guy is on the hook for over a thousand dollars in taxes and seller fees for the stuff that got sold through his account by this hacker. I'm staying in touch with him as he sorts this all out to learn how this all happened and I'll report what I learn as I learn it. I thought Reverb was well insulated from this kind of stuff and it's disappointing to learn that it's not.

I've shared this exact same message on the Acoustic Guitar Forum also.  Feel free to alert others on forums you may participate in.  Personally, I just changed my Reverb password to something much stronger than I originally had.

A Very Cool and Interesting Eastman NGD
Posted by: R22 - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (13)

I found an E10OM-TC Locally. Doug at Guitars San Diego knew I was looking and emailed me that he had one.

I took an extended lunch break on Friday and drove down to check it out. When I arrived, Doug informed me that the sales rep for the western US was coming in any minute. I was picking the E10 when he arrived. As Doug was introducing us the rep goes "hey I know this guy." He walked over to shake my hand "Roger, it's Steve from the Blue Guitar." I didn't recognize him at first because the last time I saw him was 30 plus years ago, and at the time was a young rocker dude with hair down to the middle of his back. Steve took over management of the store after I left.

We sat around and swapped stories for about a half hour. Really cool to see him again. Problem was, I had to get back to work and didn't have time to really check out the guitar.

It all worked out however. On Saturday I brought my E6OM-TC with me to compare. Long story short, I didn't need to compare them. The E10 was far and away the better guitar.

Doug took the E6 on trade. He gave me a very generous deal, and I have a new E10OM-TC.

Pretty nice grain with a bit of character.

As usual a very nice piece of Mahogany

How would you guys describe the neck on these?  I know it's a C profile but would you consider it full, medium, chunky?  Thanks!

  For Sale E10OM-SB SOLD
Posted by: vashondan - Forum: For Sale / Trade and Online Deals - Replies (5)

Great guitar.  Not selling because I want to but trying to keep up with medical/dentals costs so far this year.   Purchased last June and played moderately for a number of months but the last few months hasn't gotten much attention.  Excellent shape no dings or bruises.  Scratches on pick guard.   Asking $850 which includes shipping (worst case) and no fees.
