E20ooss/v & E20ss/v Reviewed in 'Guitarist' mag
Posted by: AlanSam - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (6)

Good article (5 pages) on E20ooss/v & E20ss/v reviewed in 'Guitarist' magazine. Very positive especially the E10ss/v which garnered a 9/10 Guitarist Choice rating - with the comment 'An absolute beast of an instrument that has just about everything you need in a punchy toneful dread!'.
Then, the next two pages feature an interesting interview with Pepijn 't Hart - Eastman's product development manager. He touched upon the influence of Dana Bourgeois who has been working with Eastman's top luthier - Tekua. Pepijn stated that Eastman' dreads are now a little smaller -  the same size as Bourgeois' models. The acoustics' tops are a little thinner and some braces a little thicker. Also, there is a kiln in the workshop and wood is dried without being torrefied - which replicates two or three years air drying. Finally, he mentioned what we already know, that the new Touchtone range will be unveiled at Summer NAMM. Good read.

  Clip on tuner scratches
Posted by: Meathead - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (11)

Just thought I'd mention to folks - I use head stock clip on tuners, and I am noticing I am getting micro scratches on the black finish of the Eastman headstock from these things.  Just a call for folks that use them to be careful if you are trying to keep your guitar in cosmetic mint condition...

The Chapman's Acoustic Shoppe! Got an Eastman E6D-TC at the end of March from them. Was hoping to get a Swiss Alpine version, but they were gone by then. This guitar sounds great however! Got it with the Schertler Magnetico M-AG6 and the optional S-MIC. The Mic plugs directly into the pickup itself. Liz at the Shoppe did the installation. There is no piezo stuff with this system.
I've come to the conclusion that no system short of external micing is free of the 'quack'. The Schertler sound reminds of the Yamaha SRT system that was in the Yamaha A5R and AC3R guitars I had.
No defects in this E6D that I can see. The back of the neck is even silkier than my E40D that was new in 2021. Very playable and has the mahogany sound. I've covered the sound bases with the E40D, AC722CE, AC622CE, and the E6D. Time to stumble through attaching photos.

  E10 00SS
Posted by: GillyGee - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (1)

Hi
I have a Gibson L-00 and and Eastman E10 SS and I am now going seriously considering an E10 00SS...my dilemma is that here in the UK there seem to be two versions of mahogany backs. One is split with a centre binding and the other is all one piece with no centre binding...This is also what I discovered when buying my E10 SS...mine has the split back with the centre binding. Any explanations from anywhere?

Many thanks in advance

PS I absolutely adore my Eastman hence the desire to get the '00'

DH: Arranging House Of The Rising Sun
Posted by: Charlieb - Forum: Guitar Videos - No Replies

I'm sure most everyone is familiar with David. Here David does a really informative finger style tutorial of House Of The Rising Sun. In entirety it's about an hour and a half long. But to jump right in on tutorial you can start at around the 24 minute mark and if your interest is peaked you'd definitely want to watch it in it's entirety. A few years back I did study some of his lessons at Truefire but seriously thinking about signing back up for his Fretboard Confidential lessons, I always need all the help I can get.

Any interest in trading an OM for my E10D-SB?
Posted by: John-K - Forum: General Chatter - Replies (4)

Throwing out a feeler for trading my E10D for an OM. My guitar sounds great and plays very well. Has some scars from an abusive previous owner. Will detail them with anyone that may be interested. Has new Gotoh SNX-500 tuners.(that model number maybe a little off) Just always wanted an OM.

  E20 vs E40
Posted by: cfranchi - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (7)

Hello everybody,

I’m considering an E20 OM-TC but was wondering about E40 OM-TC (I mainly fingerstyle). I asked to Eastman about differences and they said that they reserve premium wood (don’t know if it is only premium in term of look) for E40 and everything else is mainly cosmetic.

Do you own both and do you notice differences in term of sound ? Are E40 more lightly build ? Are they more responsive ?

Thank you !

Happy Father's Day! I was surprised with an AC630SB!!!
Posted by: Shishigashira - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (14)

Hope all Father's are having a wonderful day. My wife had seen me drooling over an AC630 Sunburst that Dave's was selling as used. She then bought it and surprised me with it. Needless to say it's been a wonderful father's Day. The guitar sounds just amazing. Pictures soon.
