Which Eastman electric for rhythm player?
Posted by: Mitch - Forum: Eastman Electric and Archtop Guitars - Replies (13)

Hi there

I have been starting out as an acoustic player the last few years. Still consider myself sort of beginner. Playing mostly rhythm, easy singer songwriter stuff. Nothing fancy. I enjoy myself and start to add singing.

Been noodling around with some electrics just for fun at a friends place recently and enjoyed it. Playing it like an acoustic obv Tongue my friend takes the piss but has to agree that it sounds cool. He is more the lead playing typ of guy. Has a strat and a tele.

So in short, I mainly strum. I like those smooth, warm tones. Maybe a bit bluesy. Wonder how a semi or fully hollow body would feel.

A) does it make sense playing an electric that way?

B) if so, which Eastman (or in general) model would suit best?

C) I‘d like something very simple, tone and volume, nothing fancy.

I hope this threat isn‘t ‚stupid‘, I really don‘t know much about electrics.

Playing two Eastman acoustics Cool

Cheers from Switzerland
Mitch

  String set question
Posted by: Blues Picker - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (6)

Being new to Eastman , I gotta ask . I just got a 308 limited edition..love it!!! And would literally hate myself if I screwed it up.

I'm a finger style blues guy....and I'm a fan of the martin 80/20 bluegrass string set. 12-56. Basically the 2 high strings are your standard 12,16 lights ...then the 4 wound strings mediums. I also have pretty much adopted 432 tuning instead of standard 440.

Also something else my Eastman 308 has a 24.9 scale length as opposed to 25.5 which at least by a string tension calculator reduces the tension as well....

Given those perimeters 24.9 scale , 432 tuning do you think my Eastman 308 would handle those 12-56 set strings.

I've not been able to find a tension calculator to adjust for 432 tuning so I can't quite get any numbers to base a desession on.

I know the 308 came with lights 12-53 , but I do prefer the added thump and tone of the mentioned bluegrass string set....to my ear it does make a noticeable difference.... And with the scale length and tuning I can't feel that normal medium gauge finger killing tension.

Any thoughts?

Hello
I am about to purchase an ac620ce. I cannot find much information about user reviews for this guitar. Can someone share his thoughts about this guitar. Furthermore does somebody know from which year serial number 8568 is? And what the value of this guitar is nowadays.
Thanks

New to Eastman and loving it
Posted by: Blues Picker - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (18)

Hello all,
I walked into a small guitar shop in Columbus Ohio today expecting to look at a Eastman E3ome......well I walked out with the 308 limited edition....slotted head stock , sun burst...my God this thing is sweet.....14 fret neck but it sure plays like a 12 fret . Love the slotted head stock....I did remove the phosphor bronze and put a set of 80/20's on it....to my ear 80/20 fit better on mahogney back and side guitars.....the desire to pull the pick guard is killing me .....the guitar was made 7/14/22 and only hung in the shop for 3 days......think I could get by with it ?? Without the dreaded sun tan line????

I'm loving this guitar....fits well with my Alveraz MasterCraft .....

As the name says I love picken acoustic blues....this 308 fits that bill perfectly.....

I've played martin's in this price range ....the 308 and my alveraz MasterCraft both kick there butts.....loving this new Eastman!!!!!

Hopefully there's some acoustic blues picker on here to trade licks with better yet some local guys around Springfield or Columbus Ohio ...... To get together and pick some and learn from each other.......time for a beer , living this guitar.....time to pick some more??

Surgery Upcoming And Getting Freaked Out
Posted by: vashondan - Forum: General Chatter - Replies (44)

A number of you remember that I was going through a tough patch the end of last year and ended up in the ER a couple of times.  This was after about a year of not feeling well.  Mostly it was constant fatigue and some other random symptoms.  Finally a few months ago we found that I have two clogged arteries and am having a bypass operation next Tuesday.  Until the last couple of days I was taking it in stride but yesterday the reality hit and I started getting pretty anxious.  I'm not too nervous about the surgery itself but rather the recovery.  I've gotten a few different versions from others about what the recovery was like for them which led to more anxiety. I'm mostly concerned because I live alone on an island so services are random and I don't have a clear picture of what I'll need when I return home about 5 day later.

Anyway, just had to share and I know that a few of you have gone through some kind of heart issues and would love your perspectives.

  E40OM-TC
Posted by: Llew - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (3)

Just placed an order today for an E40OM-TC  from Ted @ LAGS. He had two of the (He says seven were built?) E40OM-TC models with the bolt on Bourgeois "Tone-Tight" neck joint and a standard 25.4" scale length. Be next week before I get it as it has to travel coats to coast. But I'm excited to have a "true" Eastman OM as everyone I've seen or played had the 24.9" (000) scale length. Not sure why they don't call them 000's instead of OM's but I guess they must have their reasons.

He has one more if anyone is interested...just a PSA of sorts?

Hello everyone I’m new here and have been browsing the forum for about a month before I decided to sign up. I love all the Conversations on here. I am a new convert to Eastman about a month ago I got a E30ME And a E3DE and just love the sound of them. I have my Martin’s that I love and will never part with but Eastman is just blowing me away with the quality and playability and sound for the price is just amazing to me.

So now I’m hooked and have just special ordered from my local guitar shop a AC622CE I fell in love with the inlay on that guitar. Plus the sound hole port and the armrest was just an added bonus to me. I’ve always wanted a bling guitar? but never could afford the upper end Taylor’s or Martin’s. My question is who on here has that Guitar? I’ve read a couple post here with people that own one.

What are your thoughts on them? The demos I’ve heard sound really good and yes I know they’re brighter but that’s what I wanted. I already have rosewood and mahogany guitars. I look forward to your responses and look forward to continuing to engage with everyone in this forum thanks for having me. I will post pics when I receive my guitar should be in about a month to 45 days. Thanks

  Forum Activity

What can be done to improve forum activity? 1 to at the most 2 post per day. I see a substantial amount of guest browsing forum but few if any members post daily, most days hardly anyone. I don't know any forum particulars but wondering why so few post and more guest than members daily.

Is it the forum layout, could changes be made for a more friendly layout, different host? Are the few post made of little or no interest to members/guest? Just asking if possible changes could be made to increase member post and pull in guest as members. I greatly appreciate my Eastmans and evidently others do also....just wondering
