Hi peoples!

I was here, briefly, a few years ago. Been a weird few years, lol. Anyway, I got an E1OM in June and though it was defective, I liked it so much I bought a 2nd hand E1D Cla for a good price on ebay classifieds. After a setup, it is an amazing guitar, I'd choose it over a Martin D16GT or a Taylor 310 (both of which I have owned). It's a keeper. And the finish on mine is gorgeous. I have some more expensive guitars, the E1D holds its own.
Anyway, the OM...got sent back to the place of origin this week. It was a nice little guitar, but it had a Rosewood bridge and fretboard. Supposed to be Ebony. The 1st string also rang out unnaturally. So, I asked for an exchange, and I am now awaiting an AC308ce LTD SB. Took a loss on the trade-in, but got more than if I'd sold it myself. So, now I am awaiting the AC308ce. If it plays at least as well as my E1D, I'll be happy as Larry!
Funny thing about Eastmans. Get one, realize you love the tone of the thing, and then decide you want more. Like, right away! lol.
Nice to visit again! I'd forgotten that I'd joined!  Big Grin

I bought this guitar from LA Guitar Sales a couple of months ago. I had it set up at my local tech with Martin treated 12-54 PB strings, and they added a strap button. The guitar plays very nicely, sounds great and is still in excellent condition. I play dreads most of the time and just bought another one, so my hope is that someone will buy this OM and enjoy it.

Photos are not the best, but here they are. I actually believe this guitar is still the one pictured on LA Guitar Sales site, since I see the dark spot in the Sitka spruce top.

$1,100 shipped.

  Breedlove post on Mahogany

I thought this was informative considering the ambiguous use of the word mahogany when it comes to acoustic guitar manufacturers.

So I posted a while back about special ordering this guitar and it finally came in. While technically not a new guitar day I’ve had it for about a month. I won’t go into a lengthy review as I am not very good at doing those. But I will say some words about how amazing this Guitar is to me.

First off the inlays are my favorite thing about this guitar and the finish. I just love what they did with the back and sides. I feel like I got lucky with a really nice striped maple neck. And the maple binding is just outstanding it’s beautiful and a pleasure to look at.

Now let me also say I bought this guitar for two reasons normally the biggest reason for me is sound but in this case it was 50% sound and 50% looks. I already have Martin dreadnoughts and other ones that fulfill those kind of big boomy sounds that in my opinion Martin does best.

As for the sound I knew to expect it is brighter sounding but not in a harsh way in a very musical pleasing way nice and clear like a bell. And The bass response is nice and balanced and actually it has more bass than I expected. That might be due to the sound port which I really like it’s very subtle but when you cover it you can hear the difference. The set up is very nice I might lower the action a little bit but really good for out-of-the-box. And a beautiful case to boot. And stays in tune very well.

The only critique I have is the pickup. I love the sound of it but I think there’s an issue with it the low E string.It is really loud when plugged in,and the rest of the strings are fairly quiet you can hear them and it sounds really good but the balance is off. Hopefully Eastman can fix this under warranty. But if not no big deal I’ll just have a luthier take care of it. But the pick up at self the baggs element sounds nice and clear once it is fixed I’m sure it’ll sound amazing.

In closing this guitar is just amazing Eastman is killing it! I believe it excels at strumming and fingerpicking which is exactly what I wanted it for. Thank you to the group for reading this and I hope you enjoy the pictures. Hopefully I can be more engaged with the group but with work sometimes it’s hard to engage as much as I would like to. Peace!

  Adirondack Abbreviation
Posted by: Don - Forum: General Chatter - Replies (6)

I know I'm not going to be able to change the entire music instrument lexicon but, having had a home in the Adirondacks for many years, the proper abbreviation for locals is "ADK" not "ADI". Try surfing both abbreviations.

  Safe place to transact local guitar sale?
Posted by: Myopic Squirrel - Forum: General Chatter - Replies (11)

Very disappointed my Eastman E20D TC isn't working for me. Bought as my 'last hurrah', absolutely THE best guitar I've ever owned - fit & finish is excellent, sustain incredible, a real cannon - but my 77 year old left hand isn't working the way it used to with the C neck. Regretfully putting it up for sale, and prefer to sell locally, and want the buyer to play it. Greatly appreciate any suggestions as to a safe place to transact the sale. Thank you in advance!

  Eastman action heights (factory setups)
Posted by: cjhorne - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (7)

The Acoustic Shoppe has 38 Eastman guitars currently listed on their website.  They show the setup for each one.  I ran some statistics for the action at the 12th fret with some interesting results.

Low E string at the 12th fret
(Eastman spec = 0.094 (3/32"))
n = 38
mean = 0.099"
st dev = 0.0101
median = 0.099"
mode = 0.094"
minimum = 0.080"
maximum = 0.126"

High e string at the 12th fret
(Eastman spec = 0.063" (2/32")
n = 38
mean = 0.080"
st dev = 0.0101"
median = 0.077"
mode = 0.074"
minimum = 0.062"
maximum = 0.104"

I also plotted some histograms using Google Sheets, but I didn't like the way they presented the data.  Traveling now, but when I get home, I'll run the histograms on Excel and post them.  Oh, I rounded the numbers off to 3 decimal places.

After seeing this, I am never going to just randomly order a guitar online.  Either I see it myself, or I order from the Acoustic Shoppe.  Too much variation.

  Dove tail?
Posted by: Dmaples63 - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (1)

Just saw a post where someone was saying their E10Ss is from when they were still doing dove tail neck joints. I thought only the AC series were changing necks? Did traditional necks change also?
