E6D-TC Alpine KEPT and E6OM-TC Alpine TRADED
Posted by: TomC - Forum: For Sale / Trade and Online Deals - Replies (18)

I have an opportunity to purchase a dream guitar. Unfortunately to do that something has to go. Both guitars are in excellent to like new condition. Both guitars have the limited torrefied Alpine spruce tops and mahogany back and sides. The dread has a JJB pick up installed. The OM is acoustic only. The back of the necks on both guitars have been buffed to a matte finish. IMHO it makes them much smoother and faster. The only other modifications to both is a strap button on the heel and both guitars have a Holter Pickguard. OHSCs included. I will post some pictures in the next couple of days, but message me if you want anything specific.

Prices include shipping CONUS and PP fees. Thanks for considering them.

PS - Optionally I could move a Martin in CEO 7 in similar excellent to like new condition for $2350 shipped. I would really would like to keep one of the Eastmans, so once two are sold I will pull the third.

Best strings for my new E1D
Posted by: Petr_70 - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (10)

As a new member, I welcome all fans and owners of Eastman guitars. Wink

I have a new E1D bought in Holland and I am quite disappointed with the sound of the D'Addario .012-.053 #EXP16 strings.
The sound on bass, coated strings is so "resophonic" as if blurred. I don't like it at all. Sad

Of course I know that with new coated strings it more or less will be like that, until they "wear out".

What replacement would you recommend?

I read somewhere that the sound of the E1d is closer to that of the Martin D-18.
And it sounds really great - The bass is clean and clear! I really like this sound!:

So my choice is the Martin Lifespan 2

Is it a good choice? Or do you have another tip?

Thank you all for your replies.

This seems to be a very good price in case anyone is interested in a double top. https://www.mandolincafe.com/ads/193371#193371

Definitely makes my E20 00ss/v priced too high

Posted by: Meathead - Forum: Introductions and EGF Annoucements - Replies (7)

Hi EGF community -

Eastman Guitar Fans is celebrating five years of existence this week!!

When I ventured to start this forum in Sept 2017, I had no idea how it would be received, or if it would even take off.  It was my first foray into hosting an online community.

Here we are, five years later, with over 23K posts and 1550+ EGF users, with a fantastic community of like minded Eastman guitar fans.  It's awesome!

Thank you to each community member for stopping by, contributing, and keeping this place a friendly and welcome gathering place of guitar players.

I also want to acknowledge that I'm truly grateful for a most excellent moderator in Pura Vida.  Brian was there from day one when we launched, helping the forum gain footing with initial posts, and also serving as a moderator, which as allowed me to focus on web hosting and fixing/improving server-side tasks of running a community.  Thank you, Brian!

Here's to many more years in the future!

Cheers.

Posted by: Charlieb - Forum: Other Guitar Brands - Replies (8)

I sold my last mandolin to buy another guitar or so lol dangit and I'm wanting another. Anyone have the Calhoun? Notes sound clear, has a a little wider nut. Wanting less treble one reason for selling my Eastman 305 and moving on to a Pava that had a really nice tone, also been sold. Not wanting to spend a ton like I have done lol

  Chord Melody practice
Posted by: Charlieb - Forum: General Chatter - Replies (2)

I'm sure I've posted Sandra's youtube page before but I'll try again. If you are an intermediate player or at most any level and wanting to learn anything more than you already know then Sandra has a ton of fabulous tutorials on her YT channel. It's all free and she is a good teacher and each tutorial is 20-30 minutes long.  Even if you learn one new chord voicing you're making progress.

When I moved on from mostly being a few genre player primarily and started working on learning standards and chord melodies I finally realized just how little I knew and it was so rewarding to learn my first tune and chord voicing's I never knew.

If any interest here and you haven't checked out Sandra then find a tune in her massive tutorial videos that you recognize and give her a try, you won't be disappointed but pleased and advancing...

  Here I Go Again
Posted by: Charlieb - Forum: General Chatter - Replies (13)

Everyday I'm looking and wanting and I don't need anything but my wants won't leave me alone. And no one has anything in stock that I want or think I want. Been looking for an E10 P SB and most all I see are the 20's and I don't want the 20. There's one place that has the E10 P-SB new it says but they've had it listed for quite a while. I've emailed them 3 times and called them twice. They won't answer my emails or return my calls. Just wanting to know year, how long they've had it and where has it been kept (stored) all this time?

And I've had an Iris OG or CH heavy on my mind but wasn't wanting to put that much into an acoustic now since I already have 2 Eastmans. And then there's wood, do I want an all mahogany or Spruce top and Mahogany back&sides. Don't want rich and abundant overtones but woody tone with a little bite but no dead thump...What's a couch player to do...I'd probably be much better off to just close my laptop, quit wanting and dang practice on what I have, but dang!

I couldn’t help myself, seen this and had to have it. I’ve had several E1D’s but I’m a sucker for a top like this. Just wanted to share a couple of photos.
