String test by Paul Davids

Not an electric guitar player (not yet at least). Thought it a good string test video. If not already seen, enjoy.

  Hope Everyone Sleigh'd The Holidays!

Wishing all the EGF members a wonderful holiday, no matter which one you celebrate.  As we were driving around the neighborhood last night, I turned the corner, saw this, and thought of our own Steve Leigh (aka Sleigh).  Of course, that bearded guy in the red suit got in my way, just as I was taking the photo out of my car window.

Cheers, everyone!

Just picked my new SB56 gold top with the Lollar P90s.  This is my fourth Eastman and my first P90 guitar.  I have to say I am loving this guitar and these pickups. The character and dynamics are next level.

I played it in the shop and bought it soon after.

  Talk to me about PCH
Posted by: Aahzz - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (3)

Hi folks! So I continue to absolutely adore my AC322CE-SB. It's just a phenomenal guitar. Really, all I need...except...

I've just joined an acoustic trio. Me, another guitarist/singer, and a percussionist/singer. Gigs are already getting booked. As a retired IT professional, I generally insist on having backup systems for everything, since I've seen so many weird failures. So, I need a second acoustic guitar, because I don't want to gig without a backup, even knowing that the necessity to use it is unlikely. Don't want to spend more than necessary for a backup, though, which leads me to the PCH-GACE.

Who owns a PCH of any size and can chime in on how they are? Looking to see if one will work well, play well, and still sound good, or if I should spring for a 122 or 222 to get all solid wood.

Thanks in advance!

Alpine spruce vs sitka spruce for E8 OM-TC ?
Posted by: cfranchi - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (6)

I have nearly stated for an E8 OM-TC as my next guitar.

On reverb I saw some E8 that seems to be alpine spruce because of the milky look of the top instead of the straight grain (that’s what a guy on acousticguitar forum told me).

So alpine or sitka ? Which one would you choose and why ?

  "Used" 2022 Eastman's at DGS
Posted by: LittleRuss - Forum: General Chatter - Replies (8)

It's not the first time I've noticed this but currently Dave's Guitar Shop has a lot of used 2022 model Eastman guitars, both acoustic and electric. It seems odd that they have that many current year used Eastman's. What gives? Are they factory seconds? Does Dave's have an inside line with Eastman on current year "used" models. Something seems not quite right. I just sent a note to Dave's asking about this and I'm hoping to learn what the situation might be.

  NGD - The confusing E20OM-MR-TC
Posted by: TomC - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (11)

I was going to add to PV's post, but more has come up about this guitar that has me going - hmmmmm.

I originally was going to get the MR dread but switched to the OM. I received the guitar last Wednesday. I will be honest. I was underwhelmed. I was hoping for something like my E40OM but only more so.  Please do not misconstrue what I am writing - It is not a bad guitar. Its fit, finish, materials etc are top shelf. The guitar comes with D'Addarrio coated XS strings which I don't prefer.  I was going to exchange it for the dread, but I won't be able to send it back until after the first. Ted at LA Guitars agreed to let me try some string changes. That is in progress.

Now what has me confused. This guitar kind of felt different. At first I chalked it up to no armrest or strap, both of which I use. I noticed when side by side it looked smaller than my E6OM. So I did some measuring. Compared to my E6OM-TC and E40OM, the new guitar body is 3/8" shorter, about 1/4" narrower on the lower bout, 1/2" narrower on the upper bout and 1/4" narrower at the waist. The depths are all the same. All dimensions are approximates. To confirm the smaller size, I took the E6OM and put it in the case for the 20MR. It fit but is a very tight squeeze. The 20 fit comfortably in its case. I then did the reverse. The the 6 fits comfortably in its case, but the 20 is definitely loose with room around the waist, bouts and length. I can easily slide the guitar around in the case. I looked at a Martin chart and it seems to be (size wise at least) somewhere between a 00 and a 000.

The string experiment will continue. I have some nickel strings due in at the end of the week. I am not sure what to make of this one yet.

Anyone have any suggestions? Something of decent quality but doesn’t have to be professional grade. I do not need it to be tied to video.

Thanks in advance.
