Help me choose E8OM-TC or E20 OOSS
Posted by: houston57 - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (20)

I am looking at a used E8OM-TC 3 years old in pretty good condition. I think the guy is going to take $800. Also eyeballing a E20OOSS that is at least 8 year old $900 in rough looking but good playing condition. I can not go play either.

I have arthritis in my right thumb at 32 so I mostly pick and sing with my guitar. Wondering which one would be better for hybrid picking and strumming?
My current acoustic is a 10 year old solid top 000 that I had to glue the bridge back on to (I did a pretty mediocre job)

I will appreciate all input please and thank you
So what am I getting team?

For those of you with Eastman Swiss Alpine guitars....
Posted by: Myopic Squirrel - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (20)

Is there anything in writing that identifies the guitar as having a Swiss Alpine top? On the COA or on the sticker inside the guitar? I understand Swiss Alpine has a very light color - even the TC ones, as compared to the carmelized color of sitka and red spruce. Thank you in advance.

Question Advice wanted, someone in the US is holding my guitars hostage
Posted by: Rens - Forum: General Chatter - Replies (4)

So, this is a long story that I will condense as much as possible. A few years ago, I met someone online and we clicked. It was fun, we talked a lot, until she wanted more and I didn't, and off came her mask.
During the period when things were fun, I saw a really lovely deal on an Eastman with some minor damage. At that moment, there was still a ban on sending any rosewood overseas. We agreed to fill in the paperwork together so it could be shipped from Huntington Beach, CA to Europe. For all sorts of reasons, this took a while, and then news hit that the ban would be lifted. When this happened, I actually saw another guitar that the year before that had been picked up before I could pull the trigger, and she promised to receive that and forward it as well.

Shortly after, the mask came off. She went from nice to an absolute hag, and she is holding them hostage at the moment. There are always a million reasons to not send them, and currently she doesn't seem to understand that she needs to measure the boxes so I can find out what shipping would cost, set up an appointment with USPS, etc. All this goes hand in hand with hours-long barrages of the most vile obscenities that honestly aren't fitting for someone her age. I honestly pity her.

My question is, does anyone have any suggestions? Calling the police or starting a court case isn't something I'm keen on, it will consume time that I'd rather spend on the fun stuff going on in my life. Also, getting them here and paying customs will be pricey enough. Does the US -or just around LA?- have services that pick up stuff like this, and mail it for you? I can't set up an appointment with USPS because they will need more info than I have and she flat-out refuses to cooperate in any meaningful way. I also do not want to just give her a few hundred to cover the costs because she has shown herself to be astoundingly untrustworthy, and pathetically petty beyond belief.

So my questions is: Americans, please, help me out? Big Grin

  E10P SB Arrived
Posted by: Charlieb - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (20)

My local Fedex 40 miles away have had it since last Friday and just delivered today, Tuesday.

It is indeed different than my 10 OM. The wider nut is really nice, only pecked around on it a few hours. I'm no good at setup work but it will need a good setup and I have a good friend that's excellent but a 2 hr drive and a weeks wait normally. The action is pretty dang high and especially at the bridge and there is plenty bridge height for shimming down. So it just needs leveling out a bit and truss rod checked to make sure it's set correctly. And the Sunburst looks very good.

Tone wise is dry and woody, a nice natural tone with very minimal overtones that I was looking for. String height start to raise quiet a bit after 5 fret. Anxious in getting it setup to my likings but that'll be a few weeks.

I bought the Parlor from Johnson String Instrument and I've bought online before but I have never received a guitar so well packaged in my life. A plastic sleeve around the case, top and bottom bracing and 3-4 full sheets of bubble wrap on both sides of guitar case in heavy cardboard box.

It's night time, couple of crappy photos taken with phone

  2022 Martin D-28 $2400 for EGF members
Posted by: TomC - Forum: For Sale / Trade and Online Deals - Replies (3)

In my on-going effort to fund a Kopp AJ, I took a trade of two Eastmans for 2022 Martin D-28 Standard Re-Imagined. Sitka/Rosewood. 1.75" nut, 25.4" scale etc etc. Quintessential Martin dread. The guitar has some very light pick scratches on the guard otherwise in excellent condition - the strap pins aren't even installed and no pick-up. $2400 includes shipping and PP fees for EGF members. This is a very nice guitar in excellent condition, but just not where I want to end up.

So much for "burning the ships"...
Posted by: Myopic Squirrel - Forum: General Chatter - Replies (1)

For those of you that read my "burning the ships" comment - well, I just anchored my new vessel. After having the opportunity to play an OM, found a Swiss Alpine TC, which arrived today. In spite of trying to tough it out through the shoulder pain with the E20D TC, the pain really curtailed my playing time. Having read how people have downsized, couldn't believe how much more comfortable the OM fit is. Another beautiful Eastie - great voice, sustain, fit & finish. Eagerly looking forward to be able to play for longer periods.

  T59/V love
Posted by: Thedman - Forum: Eastman Electric and Archtop Guitars - Replies (1)

I played my T59/V last night at rehearsal after not playing it for a couple of months and I was reminded what a great guitar it is. Bluesy, rocky, jazzy, it takes whatever you throw at it. I love my other electrics but for the music I play none are as versatile as my trusty T59/V
