Hi everyone!
Just received my Eastman AC622CE. I bought it used on Reverb. I love the sound and feel of this thing. Been playing it all day and my fingers hurt. Pictures are attached.
But there is a slight color mismatch on the top (left vs right half), which is concerning. Is that normal or a sign of some defect? I don't mind if it's just cosmetic, but if it affects sound quality, then perhaps I need to ask for a refund.
Edit:
I am adding a short review to contribute to this community. I noticed that members have been very helpful here, and I hope my opinion below helps someone else.
AC622CE (2021)
This model does not have the bolt-on neck.
I am new to the guitar world, and the only other acoustic guitars I've played enough to comment on are the Taylor GS-Mini and Epiphone Hummingbird (Inspired by Gibson). My opinions will be relative to those two guitars.
- Aesthetics - Sound is the most important feature of a guitar, but there are so many guitar brands out there, which makes it possible to get a guitar that sounds good and also looks great. This one definitely looks attractive. Anything better looking than this guitar would be out of my price range. The inlays are beautiful, and the maple back and sides makes you wish your audience could see them. The craftsmanship is impressive. The binding, the rosette, the beveled edge, inlays, and other details all look perfect. There is a runout (mentioned in the replies), which might look ugly to some, but it doesn't bother me.
- Playability - My AC622CE is much much easier to play than the GS-Mini. My GS-Mini has a medium height action, and can't be lowered any more than that because you get fret buzz with the slightest adjustment on the truss rod. My Hummingbird is easier to play, but that's because the action is very very low, and I actually don't know how I'm able to get it so low and still not get fret buzz even if I strum hard. The AC622CE has medium height action, I haven't made any adjustments, and I don't feel the need to. The beveled edge makes it very comfortable to play and easier to change your arm position to strum different locations. The neck is thicker than what I'm used to, but not by much.
- Sound - The adjective I would use is "sparkling". The maple back and sides are expected to produce a bright tone. The clarity on this guitar is amazing. You won't get a growling bass, but it's more than adequate. My hummingbird sounds and feels a smidge more powerful on the low end, but it's a dreadnought, so it might not be the best comparison.
- Electronic pickup - I have not tried it, and I don't plan on using it in the near future.
- Overall - I would highly recommend this guitar to anyone who isn't looking for a growling bass. My only wish is for Eastman to have a similar model with a smaller nut size and thinner neck.
