A hello from a new owner
Posted by: JohnnyH - Forum: Eastman Electric and Archtop Guitars - Replies (5)

Just a quick hello from a new Eastman owner.

Had fun yesterday as I picked up a new T386 in vintage sunburst, having found 1.75" nut width (I have relatively small hands) and neck profile comfy in the hand.
It interesting to be given options, T386, T486, T59 and T64, but I am just a sucker for the vintage sunburst and dot inlays, so T386 it was.
The pickups in the 486 definitely had more clarity and were more articulate, but I figure I an easily swap out if needs be.

Hugely loving this guitar, sits happily alongside my ES-135 (P100s), and I am looking forward to many years of music with it. I also look forward to any hints or tips for getting the most out of it.

Cheers all

  Why no All Mahogany?
Posted by: Charlieb - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (13)

I had been interested in trying to find a used E10 00M. Contacted Eastman recently and they have NO plans to ever make an all-mahogany again. I wonder if there was a problem with their limited run all-mahogany 00M or they felt there was just not enough demand then or now?...and that really T's me off lol. I'd love to find the 00 size all-mahogany with wider nut

I bought a Martin 15 custom recently and returned it as I didn't find anything I liked about it.

What? Me Checking Out This Site Too Often?

Huh. I just noticed that my last few posts put me past Bert in the number of posts... Obviously I spend WAY too much time here. But I'll never catch AlanSam or PuraVida!

My local Eastman dealer here in Memphis just got a order of over 50 Eastman instruments.
They will be unboxing then this week. They are a small store with only a few employes so it may take a couple of days to see what’s in there! There are usually some surprises!!
It’s Martin music on poplar ave in Memphis TN.

Deal Alert - HE422ce's - Virginia and Wash State
Posted by: PeteD - Forum: For Sale / Trade and Online Deals - Replies (1)

Saw this on Facebook Marketplace...no affiliation, but it seems like a really good price on an older model.  I'm pretty sure that these 'HE' models were exclusive to the Music & Arts music store chain.  I once owned an HE model...honestly I didn't think the quality was quite up to the standards of the regular label ones, but mine could have been just a one-off.

and then I noticed another one on Reverb for an even better price in Walla Walla, WA...but it looks to be 'well worn'.

  Ebony or bone bridge pins?

Love my E10-SS with ebony pins, wondering what ya'll think the audio difference would be (other than color) if I switched them to bone?

  Why, Eastman, why?!
Posted by: Zissou Intern - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (18)

Why is Eastman so reluctant to put a 1 3/4" nut the SS models? The Ds and OMs sell just fine with the full profile 1 3/4" necks. Do they really think they will LOSE sales by going away from the 1 11/16" low profile neck on the slope shoulders? Why not designate at least one SS model with a wide, full neck? And, subsequently, if they feel that 1 11/16" low profile necks are so desirable for customers and necessary for the company to attain sales numbers, they could and should offer them on at least one E Series D and OM model.

Has anyone tried these yet? Thoughts?  I know they're in the more expensive category and wondering if they're worth it.  Thanks!

Here's a video comparison of their PB's and 80/20's on an Eastman OM

  Sky Guitars Denton, TX
Posted by: TomC - Forum: General Chatter - Replies (5)

I was driving from OKC to Dallas and noticed Sky Guitars was a very short detour off of Interstate 35. Mostly worked with Brandon and talked to the owner - sorry I forgot his name. They have a fairly wide variety of Eastman acoustics and maybe even stronger selection of electrics with some mandolins as well. Brandon was very helpful. The higher priced Eastmans are in single cases on the wall or hangers. They insist on taking them out. One interesting tidbit - they have a guy do a quick check and set up before giving you the guitar to try. The two models I was most interested were a AC630BD and E20SSv. Both very nice guitars. The 630 was a little brighter than I would prefer, but would have to be one of the most aesthetically pleasing guitars I have ever played. The E20SSv seemed richer or fuller than the standard E20SS. The vintage finish was well done if you like that kind of thing. The one I tried that I really liked was an E20D (non TC) with some beautiful figuring in the top. Big and bold and responsive to a light touch. Unfortunately there is no way I can get that one in the door with an E20D-MR-TC already on order (as I was quickly reminded of by my better half) They also had a good selection of E1s 2s and 3s if anyone is in the market.

Bottom line - very nice shop. Good variety of models. Helpful staff. I also liked that they didn't hover when I was trying a guitar. One last interesting tidbit - they mentioned that most of their Eastman sales are on-line vs walk-in.
