NGD Soon - E8OM-TC
Posted by: SasquatchLife - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (13)

Hey lads,

I just bought another Eastman! This time an E8OM-TC. I bought it from The Acoustic Shoppe or Chapboogie.

This is my 3rd Eastman purchase since April. My 1st was in April. I have clinical GAS.

I can't wait to get this baby! I'll report back once I receive and get a chance to play it.

Pics attached.

Cheers,
Jordan

  thinline series headstock shape change?
Posted by: dantheman1017 - Forum: Eastman Electric and Archtop Guitars - Replies (6)

I've been browsing around online for a T386 for a little bit and I've noticed that the overall headstock shapes don't look the same... Did they redesign them for the T386,T486, and T59?  From what I've noticed, it looks like they used to fan out quite a bit towards the top of the headstock, but some photos I've seen posted here more recently looks like the headstock is a similar shape and size to a gibson where the top of the headstock is a similar width to the bottom of the headstock.  Maybe its just the angle the pictures are taken at?

  Few question in a row

HI, as you know singing is like a language, a body language.

what can you do if you don’t have a good voice but want to sing?
How can you improve your singing voice?
What are the best singing tips out there?
What should you focus on when you practice singing?

  Another thought/observation about thisrelationship.

As I've already rambled on about having an E20-P last November, and getting my E40-00 last month (October) one thing that really did surprise me was that as the internal racing of the E20-P was perfectly acceptable and looked "normal" for a well made guitar, the bracing on the E40 s ...well, a work of art in comparison. Much thinner, and the sort of perfection that meets , in some ways exceeds that inside my Collings guitars.

Watching this video : https://youtu.be/UYYGS5ouy84
and at about 7:25 on made me wonder whether I might have a Dana braced top on the E40.
Of course it would be silly to suggest that a Chinese worker could not produce top quality work in this way , but ...well I'm just wondering if thee is any way to find out?

  My new E8OM- TC
Posted by: Ted - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (10)

Ok- I'm just going to go ahead and say it- my new E8OM- TC is my favorite steel string acoustic guitar that I've ever owned.
I'm not saying that it's the best sounding guitar that I've ever had- I've owned about a dozen Martins and Taylors in my life- wonderful guitars. What makes this guitar so special is how comfortable it is to play- not that there's anything lacking in the tone and volume- it's right up there. Must be the combination of neck scale length, the neck shape, the slightly wider neck and the smaller body- I can play the thing for hours and not get tired.
As long as I'm at it I also want to say how much I like my PCH3 Koa. It's just as comfortable to play and for less than 1/3 the money? It's beautiful- the body has a gloss finish- not open pore and while it might not have quite the piano like fullness of the E8, I'd say it's about 90- 95 percent. $400 delivered to my door with an ok gig bag as opposed to $1,275.00. Also, there were only ten made for the U.S. which is kind of cool.
Anyone else have A PCH that they really like or did I just get an exceptionally nice one?

  E40D and E20D-TC
Posted by: Huey1952 - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (5)

I have seen a previous thread on these two guitars, from a while ago, but no follow-up, so I was wondering how these 2 guitars compare against eachother? Is it a case of Thermo-cured Adirondack against a higher grade wood?
I'm still contemplating my next Eastman with the DT30 D in the mix too!! ( Having bought the E6D-TC and loving it) To my ears the TC top has a refined, warm and balanced tone across the range, so I would expect the E20D-TC to be similar? Is the E40D a little more unrefined but rings out like a piano? That's what I'm after as a contrast. That has been said about the Double top as well! Your comments would be greatly appreciated as I live in the wilds of mid-Wales and can't get to try them anywhere near!
Not many YouTube comparison vids either.

Cordoba Fusion Orchestra CE Crossover Classical A/E Guitar
Posted by: campacj - Forum: Other Guitar Brands - Replies (6)

I wonder if any of my fellow EGF members have much experience with classical guitar? If you do you might be interested in my recent purchase. I love the mellow, tasteful sound of a classical guitar for certain types of tunes or when you just want to add more variety to your overall sound. The trouble is that classical guitars have a dead-flat fingerboard and a nut that is usually just over two inches wide. That can be a problem for those of us who have played steel string acoustics or electrics for most of our lives.
However I have recently discovered that Cordoba Guitars has been making “fusion” or “crossover” guitars for quite some time now. These are high-quality hybrid or crossover nylon string guitars that have been specially created to feel like you are playing a steel-string acoustic. They have slimmer dimensions than other similar guitars, which makes them easier to hold and to play, and the "radiused" fingerboard provides for more playability. If you love the sound of a classical guitar but want something that feels familiar, this is it. Below is a link to more info and a video of my guitar being played by a more formally accomplished player:

I welcome your thoughts and comments…

Smile Hello I am new here, just got my first Eastman T386 and very pleased!
Posted by: wildebassman - Forum: Eastman Electric and Archtop Guitars - Replies (5)

Hello I am Dennis, I live near Amsterdam in the Netherlands.

After a long surge for a good ES style guitar my quest finally ended yesterday.
I came from, Ibanez AS120 & AS153, Epi dots and last one before this one the Larry Carlton H7.

This T386 is in my opinion a real pro instrument, the sire H7 is nice but still feels budget in some ways and had a very narrow nut, 40mm, kinda ladies size neck..

I have one question, I want to have my guitar hanging on a holder that is save for nitro what holders do you people use that are save for the T386?

Dennis.

  E20-OM-TC, DT30-OM or DT30D
Posted by: Huey1952 - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (7)

I am looking to buy my second Eastman, having got an E6D-TC which is an amazing guitar. I have narrowed it down to a choice of 3. The sound I like has clarity and sustain- almost piano-like - and is balanced across the whole tonal range. On listening to these guitars on the internet the E20- OM-TC seems to have a broad and open spectrum of sound and gets rave reviews. I also like the sound of the Double-tops, but they don't sound quite as "open" as the Torrefied top, but do have an awful lot of sustain.
Any comments/thoughts would be very welcome from anyone who has experience of these fine guitars. We really are spoilt for choice!
