I have an offer to trade for an e10OM.

Truth be told I’ve always wanted an OM, but I really like the warmth of the dreadnaught.

Having never played an eastman om, how would the warmth of tone compare to the dread?

Does anyone else play electric guitar with their fingernails?
I used to always play electrics with a flatpick and then I saw Mark Knopfler on video and thought -hmmmmm.
My orientation for all guitar playing starts with my experience playing classical guitar so playing with nails feels perfectly natural- when I first started playing my electrics that way I had to adjust my technique to a much softer attack but I think that I'm sounding pretty good now.
Also, what Eastman models are similar to an ES335? That might be the next on my list to acquire.
In the past I owned two Gibson ES335's, a 1967 Blond and a 1976 Walnut colored sunburst- how do the Eastman versions match up?....let me guess.

I just bought a used (mint, seldom played) E8OM, and while I am becoming more fond of the guitar, I’m finding that it seems to have an excess of reverberation to the sound.  I know that rosewood has a distinctive “metallic chime” not present in mahogany, but this seems to be a bit more than other rosewood I’ve played from Martin, Larrivee, etc.  
I’m wondering if I might expect it to settle down a bit as it matures and opens up, or if this is just the way Eastmans sound.  I’ll still play it and enjoy it, but just wondering what others have found as their guitars mature.  
I’ve tried a variety of strings and found that Martin Monels have a more fundamental tone that calms things down a wee bit.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I'm thinking about selling or trading my nearly new AC320Ce.
It only has a handful of hours on it total.  I love it, but I'm wanting a smaller bodied guitar.

has the original hard shell case and cert of authenticity.

This is the spruce over mahogany version, NOT sapele.

Would really like something in koa, but am open to ideas.
On reverb these are going for between 900-1200...so I'll say 900.00 to start.

I think I've seen mention of this elsewhere; don't remember where. But I notice with my 2020 E20D, the newest Eastman I have, that when I play it, my fingertips come away stained with black (see the unfortunately out-of-focus pic below). I don't particularly care—this doesn't affect the sound and the stain washes off easily enough—but I do wonder why Eastman feels compelled to stain their fingerboard. It absolutely wouldn't bother me if my ebony fingerboard wasn't utter black but had some brown steaks in it. I'd just consider it 'character'.

Has anyone else noticed this with their Eastmans?

The last two Eastman guitars that I bought (LA Guitar Sales) both came with two good size bags of Silica Gel in the cases.
WTH? I thought the idea was to keep guitars at least somewhat humidified- not desiccated.
Anyone care to enlighten me?

I've become determined to learn to play fingerstyle blues since I got my E10P.  I am terrible at it but absolutely determined.  Over the long Holiday weekend I worked on a Merle Watson tune called Southbound.  I thought it would be fun to record my progress over the weekend.  The video is made up of short bits through to last night.  The first part was maybe 5 minutes in.

As you can see, I am not good at this at all, so I'm kinda putting myself out there.  Also, I thought it might encourage others to post videos and not be concerned about looking like a hack.  I think it would be cool if people are brave enough to post and get encouragement and feedback.

Aside from the obvious, I need to work on really assigning a finger to the strings and not randomly using whatever one is closest... hahaha.  Also, pinkie posting is probably not a great habit either.  If you make it through this video without wanting to scream then you are a trooper.  It does get a bit better as I go but even last night's is really cringeworthy.

But again, but posting me at my worst I thought might encourage others to share progress.  This is about the only forum I've been on where I think people are cool enough for people to do this.  Sorry for the long post and horrific playing.  Get ready to feel better about yourself!





Last week I worked on 'The Devil Wears a Suit and Tie' but didn't film progress.  I may post that in this thread later.  I'm better and that one and can sing so it will hopefully not be so awful.
