AC320CE: One Of Eastman's Best
Posted by: campacj - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (9)

Hey Guys,
I just acquired a near perfect AC320CE (with genuine mahogany back & sides) in a trade. I owned one years ago, sold it, and wanted another one ever since. I dressed it up a little. I gave it a good Windex wipe down, put a nicer tortoise shell pickguard on it, oiled the fingerboard and bridge, put gold Grover Rotomatic tuners on it, put real bone bridge pins w/abalone dots on it, put a new gold strap button on it, and a new set of phosphor bronze 12-53 strings on it, adjusted the action, and tuned her. It looks beautiful, feels sublime, and sounds wonderful!

IMHO the AC320CE is one of the two best guitars Eastman ever made (the other being the E10D) and beats a Taylor 310CE hands down!
Anyway, here's the photos:

AC320 in Texas via Mandolin Cafe @$350

Usually caveats apply - I don't know the guitar nor the seller, but for $350 in might be worth a look for someone in solid wood dread market. I think the listing might be wrong on the 1 11/16" nut. I thought all ACs were 1.75"

  Any 508:owners?

I just saw a 508 for sale and wondered what the consensus of opinion is for that model.  This is a spruce/mahogany non-cutaway model.
any guess as to the value?
thanks,
rb

  E10D or AC520

Does anyone have any experience with the ac520 as compared to the newer dreadnought D series? I have an AC522ce and love the Engelmann and mahogany combo. Just wondering if the 520 wouldn’t be very different to the 522 or how close it is to the current D series.

I think I can get a 520 at a pretty good price

Has anybody done the custom shop options thorugh Eastman?

I'm curious to know how long hte process takes, as well as rough estimation of cost.
I'm sure they aren't hte same price as the over the counter options...but would be curious to know any ranges to expect.

I have just bought a 2021 Black series Auden Austin. It is a very good acoustic guitar, on a par acoustically with Eastman and Furch. But here's the thing that puts it way ahead (imho) is the Brad Clark pickup. It is light years ahead of anything else on the market or that I have ever tried. I've tried a lot with all sorts of pedals added and effects to try and recreate a realistic acoustic sound. I was dumbstruck when I plugged it in first time and went through the four presets. Any pedals I have are going to be for sale. You don't need them! Straight into a P.A. even with just minimal effects from the desk. You have it. The acoustic sound. Thanks Brad and Doug (Auden). I'm a very happy bunny!

I was thinking of buying it for gigging but I have no gigs in sight and I don't need another guitar so someone else should buy this.

  Here's another AC420 video

Not strictly AC420, but it is the melody instrument.

The composition is a brief original I recorded as part of a promotion. I ended up liking it enough to just publish it as a standalone thing.

AC420, skip to 3:17 if you're not into the backstory.

AC808CE, skip to 2:25 to just hear the guitar.
