!3's on an OM?
Posted by: Llew - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (26)

I have a couple of Eastman OM's (E10OM-TC and E8OM-TC) and have been considering trying 13's on them (or one of them) as they're all short scale. Was wondering if anyone else has tried this and if so how you liked it?

  DIY action adjustment
Posted by: Shadow - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (8)

I got a new E8OM-TC a few weeks ago which I was really happy with apart from the action which seemed a good bit higher than the specified 3/32" (2.4mm) and 2/32" (1.6mm)at the low and high Es respectively. As far as I could measure it was at least 0.5mm higher than that. My local tech isn't taking any work at the moment so I decided to have a go myself.

After a bit of research it didn't look too difficult, just sand a bit off the bottom of the saddle and if I messed up, replacement saddles seem to be pretty easy to get hold of. To my surprise it was as easy as it looks. I sanded 1mm off to get the 0.5mm drop and the improvement in playability is remarkable, even on the low frets which surprised me as the difference must be tiny at the nut. I love my E8OM-TC even more now!

  Very cool guitar shop

Bought an Eastman AJ817 last week from a shop in the Netherlands: Fellowship of acoustics. Impressed with the shipping box and warning label. Impressive shop. Label states that guitar was shipped from a very cold climate, and to wait 12-24 hours for temperature acclimation.

  WTB - E2/AC122-2CE
Posted by: Krish4019 - Forum: For Sale / Trade and Online Deals - Replies (14)

Hi All,

I am newbie here as well as to guitar world. I have read few guitar forums and kind of deciding to buy AC122-2CE ( liked cedar top). I see very few AC122-2CE listed on Reverb but not getting into my price range. If i don't get within my price range than would look at E2.

Please drop me a note if you all come across any deals or are selling one. For AC122-2CE I am looking at $350- $400. Alternately do suggest other models for me to checkout in case you think i may not get what I am looking at within my budget.

Thanks

Which Eastman dread do I want?
Posted by: nightchef - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (25)

Hi everyone! I am a newbie—please let me know if I do anything out of bounds.

I’m shopping for a dreadnought to replace the oldest and most beloved instrument in my stable, a late-70s Guild D50 that’s now having serious and likely non-repairable neck problems. I’m looking at a lot of brands, but since I’ve been very happy with the Eastman E10OM-SB I bought two years ago, I’m liking the idea of adding a second Eastman to the stable.

I’m having a bit of trouble zeroing in on the best Eastman dread for me. The one that’s probably the closest comp for the Guild I’m replacing would be the E8D, and that would also complement the hog/adi E10OM well. But I’ve been wowed by some of the video demos I’ve seen on the web of other models, particularly the E20D-TC. I’m also open to the SS models, though I’m guessing the D models will be a more decided contrast to the OM. Pretty much any Eastman would be within my budget, though I’d probably rule out the E40D (too much bling for me).

I’m looking for a balanced sound, with a bass that’s bigger and deeper than the E10OM without being downright boomy, a rich, resonant midrange, and a top end that’s got a little shimmer without overpowering the rest of the tone. I suspect I’m going to prefer one of the TC models, but I’m willing to be talked out of spending the extra $200 or so for that.

I’d also prefer a neck on the slimmer side, if that’s an option. The one thing I’d change about the E10OM if I could is that the neck is just a shade chunkier than I like—not enough to be a problem, but enough to notice. I don’t know if there are differences in neck profile among the E-series models.

Thanks for any and all advice!

I am a fan of ovangkol.
I am a fan of Taylor guitars...but in Taylor you need the 414 series that starts at like 1500 to get spruce/ovangkol.

Anyboyd played these newer AC222's all solid option?

How are they in build quality when compared to the older dreadnaught AC series and current E models?

Smile T486 Received Today
Posted by: Coastiekarl - Forum: Eastman Electric and Archtop Guitars - Replies (3)

Received my T486 by UPS today from Woodstock School Of Music, a small dealer in Illinois. Dave provided great service and fast shipping.

The guitars finish is beautiful, although there are several small fit and finish issues. I emailed Eastman on this. The inlays in the neck jump out at you contrasted against the ebony fretboard. As far as playability and tone, it is easy to play. The neck is silky smooth and the tone is beautiful. Played her through a Boss Katana Artist (great jazzy tones and distorted tones as well). Also a Fender Blues Deville 410. The pups really push the tubes in the Fender when you get on it and you get that wonderful gritty tube tone.

I think this is the beginning of a beautiful relationship.
