Hey guys...I joined back in May, but don't get to spend as much time here as I'd like..and I love reading the posts when I can...love the Eastman owners family! Awhile back, I posted that I had bought an AC 822 here in Maine from our local boutique store, and then discovered it was a different shape than other AC 822's I have seen....I got wonderful responses from everyone about it, which led me on a hunt to find out more....well...
Mark Herring came to town for an Eastman Experience event, and I took the 822 to ask him..he took one look and started laughing, and then asked if it was from 2008, which it is...he told me how their master luthier liked to experiment during that time...he said the guitar has a AJ616 body minus the archback, with all of the 822 essentials...the rosewood back, the Englemann spruce top, and the maple binding...the rosette , he said was off of another body design, and the head stock is 822 instead of the AJ style one would find on a AJ616..he said maybe 2 , maybe 5 at the most would have been made and most of those might end up in the dumpster...mine is like the only one he has seen...so it's unique!! I love the looks and the tone, and the neck, and it's kind of cool to have a stand alone design Eastman...gotta love this company!!!
