Otto D'Ambrosio interview
Posted by: eastmanschool - Forum: Eastman Electric and Archtop Guitars - Replies (13)

Since it's 2+ years old, I'm guessing this has already been shared on the other Eastman forum. But I only stumbled upon it last night.

Very interesting (and honest) Eastman content about halfway through.

Big Grin T59V .....your thoughts?
Posted by: ultra - Forum: Eastman Electric and Archtop Guitars - Replies (16)

Hi everyone,

In my initial post, I mentioned that I bought a T386 RD because the T59v I was after was sold.

I am really really pleased with the T386 RD but can't get that T59v out of my head.

Can anyone, who has played both together, give me the score on the difference in feel and sound. Yes, I know
that the pickups in the T386 RD are underwhelming but I am wondering more about the acoustic difference,
if there is any, between the two?

I am thinking that there might be a sonic difference between the shellac/violin finish of the T59v and the nitro
of the T386 RD so if you have played them both, maybe you can tell me. The feel is different for sure.

Maybe I will need both

Thanks

  Gibson Get New CEO
Posted by: AlanSam - Forum: Other Guitar Brands - Replies (4)

Gibson have a new leather jacketed guitar playing CEO! Things will obviously change for the better! Maybe he will declare their new mission statement to be something along the lines of 'Gibson will deliver good quality guitars at reasonable prices with good after sales service'? Oh no, wait a minute, he said Gibson always “do best when they leverage their legacy”. Obviously things are going to change for the better, obviously ...

Well, it's not NGD today, but my E40OM has finally arrived from China to my dealer's warehouse.

8 months of waiting, enough is enough... Wink

The salesperson took a few photos of it. He will set it up and ship it to me next week.

Anyways, here it is!

12 fret parlour or OO 12 fret?
Posted by: Silly Moustache - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (2)

Hi, as mentioned elsewhere I bought a lovely E1p-ltd yesterday which arrived today (Friday). It is avery fine instrument but whilst the website says it should havehad a 1 &13/1" nut width and a 2 & 5/32" string spacing it has a 1 &11/1" nut and very thin string spacing.

Does anyone have a 12 fret 00 or parlour that actually has the dimensions quoted on the website? I'd really like to get one but need the wider fretboard.

  HEADSTOCK TREATMENT?
Posted by: Capefear - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (1)

HI All,

Quick question.... I have noticed that while most Eastman acoustic headstocks are finished in a gloss rosewood veneer with a mother-of-pearl logo, there are others that appear to be a flat finish with a sort of gold-colored decal label. Does anyone here know anything about this? Would it be that older Eastmans have the gold decal (if it is a decal) and newer ones have the more 'blingy' finish? Or am I missing something?

If the flat-finish is on older models , does anyone know when Eastman changed over?

Thanks!!

  Eastman Pin Size?
Posted by: Dmaples63 - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (3)

I want to try out a set of water buffalo pins on my E 10 SS. Anyone know what size pins Eastman uses. As far as I am concerned my E 10 D is perfect. Just wanting to see what some buff horn pins will do on my E 10 SS. Buff horn perfected my D 18V, but it is a Sitka top vs. a Adi top. Martin pins didn't fit the SS, just a little loose. Anyone have the sizing?
P.S. Ideally ebony pins on adi tops is historically and ideal set up and Eastman nailed it from the factory. I did change my OO-15 hog top and b&s to bone and it became clear, crisp and defined with increased volume. So tinkering a little can be fun.

  Fretboard Materials
Posted by: AlanSam - Forum: General Chatter - Replies (8)

Anybody ever tried a Richilite (or similar) frettboard? I know Gibson. Martin and others use this material? Would it bother anyone if Eastman started using it? For no rational reason I would be disappointed!
