Anyone here own or owned a guild d55?

I heard one being strummed away live not so long ago and it sounded absolutely beautiful, now I'm getting serious gas.

Way, way back pre-covid, January 2020, I was moving into playing Jazz and the blues, it would be a good idea to have a jazz guitar. My only requirements when deciding on a new guitar were: 1 ¾” nut, semi hollow and not too expensive. That alone reduced the market choice by 80%. I was lucky enough to be able to play one at a local jam in February. After procrastinating for a few months, I ordered the  Eastman T486 at the end of May, because it checked all the boxes for me. After a nine month wait, the guitar arrived on Saturday and it is just gorgeous. Flame maple body and neck, ebony fretboard, bone nut, beautiful bindings and a gleaming Nitrocellulose finish.(Note: the photo appears to show some blemishes but they are reflections. The finish is perfect). Once home, I lowered the action a bit and slight adjustment to the intonation. The sounds are amazing with sustain just seems to go on and on. The Semour Duncan pickups are great. The jazz pickup on the neck gives the bluesy tones while the ’59 at the bridge will allow you to crank out some rock. The wider neck is a pleasure to play and gives me that tiny bit of extra room. This guitar is very difficult to put down, even as it hangs in the stand, my eyes are drawn to its beauty. I am very pleased with this guitar and I’m sure that it will be around for a while. At our house we have a one-in-one-out rule, so The PRS Santana goes to my Grandson. This leaves me with one electric, one acoustic six string and one acoustic 12 string. My Granddaughter has the classical.

I love drinking coffee on weekend mornings and watching guitar videos that just lead me who knows where.  I stumbled onto Eoin Butler.  He only has a few videos but man can he play.  If someone granted me the wish to play like anyone, this actually might be it.  His playing inspires me.

  Eastman Flame Tops

Hello,

I love Eastman guitars and have four already. When looking at the 486 flame tops and backs I noticed how consistently good they look. I've heard that they spray the flame look (pattern) on some of their violins (I have one of those too). Do they do that with their guitars too? Not that it really matters but I wonder...

  Eastman HE222CE

I have a couple of HE222CE's and I believe they have nitro finish. Is this true? If so, do they have the problem of reacting to guitar stands? I ask because I am sure over time these things have not been babied but show no sign of stand rash.

  high saddle
Posted by: dembart - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (11)

Hello everyone

I'm the very satisfied owner of a new AC822 FF.  What an amazing sound!  Great instrument.
One minor issue : in my opinion the action can be lower.  Truss tension is good, a gentle bend in the neck.  But the position of the low E string at the 12th fret is slightly higher than the specs from Eastman.  (3,1 mm, Am I right)
The saddle is new of course.  Shall I start sanding it, so that I can win at least 1mm?  Anyone has done this?

  T59V not staying in tune
Posted by: rdgr - Forum: Eastman Electric and Archtop Guitars - Replies (4)

I recently purchased a 2017 T59V antiqued finish.  Beautiful guitar but it won't stay in tune.  I see many people very happy with their 59s but I having a hell of a time with mine.  Especially the B and G strings, they almost immediately go out of tune.   Has anyone had this experience with their T59Vs?  Any resolutions?

  I took the plunge!

So, I decided to get the E40D and not the E20D TC. Beautiful guitar! The action is too low however and there is string buzz on the 4th thru 9th frets on the A and D strings. It's not a fret issue. I have fret rockers. I'll make a new saddle at some point. I received it last Thursday so it's not done acclimating yet. I just took some pictures. I've never posted any here before. I'll see if I can do it.
The neck is silky smooth and so nice. Love the tone also. This is not a quiet dread. like my Yamaha A5R is. The color is quite blond. The last photo is without flash and more accurately depicts the color of the top.
