T386 or T486
Posted by: Drakaland - Forum: Eastman Electric and Archtop Guitars - Replies (11)

Hi there,

I've been researching both of these models for a few months now. I prefer the look of the T386 (plain top classic color instead of Flame top) but I read that folks often feel the picks ups should be changed out eventually. The T486 has Seymore Duncan pick ups but I've also read some folks change those out too, in which case the price becomes much wider. Eastman's are difficult to find where I'm located and due to covid, it makes it even tougher.

Any thoughts and recommendations between the two models?  I have listened to demos and with my lack of experience, I really can't make a solid judgement there.

Hi all -

I've made an improvement to the usability of the forum.  Now when you upload and attach photos to a thread, it should show a preview, and if you click the image it should make it easier to navigate and view various attached images.  Enjoy!

10 Minutes to Find Best Mid Priced Guitar

I find this vid amusing. It's from one of Europe's great guitar retailers TFOA (The Fellowship Of Acoustics) in the Netherlands -

note: the guitar described as what sounds like 'Four' is a Furch (aka Stonebridge) correctly pronounced 'Fork'.

  E20D-TC for sale
Posted by: Rad - Forum: For Sale / Trade and Online Deals - Replies (7)

SOLD

I’m selling my E20D-TC.   It is perfect other than the very slightest scratch on the neck by the headstock.  It can’t be felt at all. A spring loaded capo slipped out of my hand when I was removing it.

The guitar has a custom Taylor pickguard and of course the stock hard shell case.

I’m selling because I wanted a Dreadnought with a pickup and I decided I did not want to start drilling out the end pin to accommodate a pickup so I purchased a Dreadnought with a built in pickup and preamp.

They sell for $1,700 currently and I will sell mine for $1,275. That includes shipping to the lower 48

I located in Santa Cruz for local pickup and save shipping

Desert Island. No electricity. One Eastman. Go!

Title kind of says it all. You are stuck on a desert island. No electricity. You get one Eastman to keep you company. One.

So which one's it going to be?

(You may nickname it "Wilson" if you so desire)

  11's on an AC422?
Posted by: vashondan - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (15)

I spoke with a possible teacher yesterday who suggested that I put 11's on the 422.  Part of his logic was to use my E6OM for alternate tunings and the 422 for easier playing.  Any thoughts? I'm not sure about strings on Acoustics and how using other than the usual applies.

  Anyone familiar with Xaviere guitars?

They have an interesting site and sell components as well as complete acoustic and electric guitars.  I am guessing maybe they are pretty new, because there does not seem to be many reviews on their products.

This one in particular caught my eye:

On the surface, it seems like a good value.

  Bridge pins
Posted by: jengstrom - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (4)

Hi folks,

Long time lurker here. This is my first thread.

I just picked up a used E10D. 2014, and a lefty. I’m still getting used to it, so I won’t comment yet, but I have a question: Where can I get bridge pins for an Eastman, or at least what size are they so I can order a set from one of the usual suspects?

When looking at this guitar in the store, the pins were noticeably uneven and a couple were cocked. The holes and slots do not look worn to the naked eye, but the pins are fairly loose and a few of them tilt. The guy at the store suggested that maybe the jig was off when the holes were drilled, but that is hard to confirm without making some fine measurements. Maybe the pins have been replaced with pins of a different taper (which I also can’t measure). Anyway, if I can find known correct pins, I’d like to try them. They aren’t nearly as snug as those on my Martin.

The rest of the guitar is in Excellent condition. I only found 2 minor nicks, and the case looks like it was never used.

Thanks for your help!

John

  Need replacement saddle
Posted by: JDOT - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (3)

Hello to all.  New to the forum; first time poster.

I recently purchased a 2017 AC822CE. The saddle leans forward so I removed the strings and saddle does not fit snuggly in the bridge, but it appears to be original with a 12” radius curve?? It’s the correct width, but is too thin.

Do any of you know where I can get a correct replacement?

Thanks
