Guitar (or gun) Safe
Posted by: Paul O'Donnell - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (2)

Hello Again - Has anyone looked into guitar or gun safes ? I have been trying to find a safe that will store 3 dreadnaught size guitars - main concern is for protection against theft with fire protection a secondary issue - everything I have looked at has either been too small, too expensive, too big, etc. - haven't seen much specifically for guitars, most everything seems geared towards guns - there is one (gun safe) sold through Costco for about $750 that might work but it has a bunch of bracketry installed to facilitate gun storage that would have to be removed and information about removal without causing damage is not to be found - you folks usually have good info and ideas about all things guitar so I thought I'd ask......

  AH60ME finish question
Posted by: WalATX - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (4)

Hey folks, new user here but have owned this guitar new since 2013!  I usually trade or buy/sell my electrics every few years, but this acoustic is just the "right" one for me.  Don't feel a need or itch for something else.

Anyway.

At one point in time I loaned it to a friend and it came back with some finish missing from the neck.  I believe the finish is nitro.  It has never really bothered me, but I'm too ignorant to know if it will become a problem in the long run... is there something to be done to repair this?  Should I even worry about it?

In the same vein, at some point a guitar stand or mic stand got knocked over and scraped the top.  Anything to be done about this, or just leave it?

  Plate Mate
Posted by: Paul O'Donnell - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (10)

Howdy Folks - Has anyone installed a Plate Mate (brass bridge plate protector) on an Eastman ? It looks like the closest size (for me) that they offer is for 2 1/8" string spacing - my E40D is 2 5/32" - wondering if it would fit.....1/32" isn't much but these things aren't cheap and I don't want to buy something that won't work.....Thanks !!

EGF members - my webhost is requiring an update to PHP, which means I need to do a fairly large update to the version of the code running the site.  I will need to take the board offline briefly (hopefully less than 10 minutes or so) while I perform the update.

Hopefully it all goes smoothly (fingers crossed!)

I'm aiming to do the update sometime later today, but if you see the board offline, you'll know why.

Thanks!

Hello all!

For the past several months I have been enjoying reading all of your stories and insights into the brand, so have decided it is time to show my face.

Firstly, I am a beginner to intermediate level guitar player, that lives in Northern Alberta.

My first Eastman came about, a few months ago, as a result of my search for a campfire guitar with identical specs to my Martin 000 15m.  My thinking was, with my low level of playing ability it would be an advantage to have another acoustic with the identical physical dimensions of the 000 15m (000 body, 1 11/16 nut, 25.4” scale length), but less expensive.  The more I searched, the more intrigued I became with Eastman.  With the short supply of Eastman Guitars in Canada, I ended up ordering an AC122-2CE (all sapele) from Twigg Music in Quebec City (4270 km from my home in Alberta).  I was looking for a 000 with a 1 11/16 nut and ended up with a Grand Auditorium with a 1 ¾ nut.  Such is the power of GAS!  [Image: biggrin.png]  As with so many of you, I liked the tone, quality and playability of my first Eastman so much, that I have a second on the way.   I sold the 000 15m and have an E10 OM-SB arriving on Monday.  Can’t wait!

I have attached some photos of my AC122-2CE.

I look forward to joining in on the conversation with all of you in the future.

Rod

Sorry about the funky photo angles!  They were all upright in the preview.

  E6Dtc 1 piece neck?
Posted by: REHII - Forum: General Chatter - Replies (4)

I have seen a few new E6D tc guitars with the “Swiss spruce” top.
These guitars appear to have a one piece neck, not the three piece style with the triangle scarf joint at the headstock and the stacked heel.
Has anyone else noticed this?
Also the sound is very nice, but it think the plain E6D I played was a little better to my ears.

  E10SS/v Questions
Posted by: NoiseFloor - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (9)

I am loving my E10SS/v and playing it constantly.  I have two questions to any of you that have one:
1. What strings do you prefer.  I wasn't a fan of the originals and put on Martin Retros but not loving those either, although they are better.  I have to admit, I rather like coated strings, and definitely 80/20 over PB.  But I'm interested in people's preferences so that I can compile a list to try.
2. The finish is so thin, that I'm curious if anyone has worn through it anywhere, especially the neck.  This is just curiosity, but was wondering.

I do love it, but keep going back and forth on whether I prefer the E8D more.  I'm very lucky to have these awesome guitars.

HELP ! - pickguard for E20-00 Could You help me?
Posted by: Silly Moustache - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (15)

My wondrous 00 is actually an E40-00 "xx40" style bling, bought as a one off (last years NAMM?) from TFOA in the Netherlands.
Its a great guitar but came without a pickguard, and whilst I don't really "need" one, as all my other guitars, including my E20-P have a pickguard, I kinda like the look.

Here's a video showing them both :

https://youtu.be/NEoTLQL7AaE

On recommendation, three months ago, I ordered one from Taylor Mullins which arrived today. It's a very nice pickguasrd but a little too big for my 00 and I don't know why,but I'm not about to start blaming him as it is possible that the error is mine. It seems that it might be better for an OM ???

Soooo, I'm wondering ... if ...
a) Anyone has bought an Eastman 00 with a pickguard unfetted that they don't want/need ?
b) anyone might know how I might contact Eastman in Europe, to ask for one.
c) ???

Please understand that I'm not asking for charity - happy to pay what's necessary, but, anybody need a small teardrop for an OM?

Thanks in advance. Ol' Andy
