E8D E20D sound comparison
Posted by: Thedman - Forum: Guitar Videos - Replies (2)

Hey guy I thought this video might be of interest on this forum. I was recording sound demos and I figured since I have an E8D and E20D I would make a video of both guitars together since they are so similar except the tops.

Decided I would join the group since I’ve been one of the biggest fans Eastman products for the last 3 years. I bought my first Eastman used E10D-SB 3 years ago and became hooked. Since that time I’ve been lucky enough to become friends with the great guys at the Acoustic Shoppe and they have help me add another 18 or so Eastmans to my stable. I firmly believe that Eastman makes some of the finest instruments in the world and the best in the world for the price point. I have a couple more guitars that I will add in the near future and hopes that one day they will build the E40’s with the TC tops.

  Strings for overtones
Posted by: Cromwell - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (3)

Hi guys, not posted in a long time. I have an E10ss and I'm wondering what strings would be best for maximum overtones.

Thanks for any help.

Are semi hollow guitars inherently "bassy"?
Posted by: Grendel - Forum: Eastman Electric and Archtop Guitars - Replies (6)

I took my new T484 to my weekly guitar lesson tonight and my teacher agreed that it has a very strong lower end.  I'm not sure if it's fair to call it "boomy" per se, but the bass is quite strong (as mentioned in a previous post).

Is this par for the course with with semi hollow guitars?

I'm trying to tame the lower end to some degree and have ordered a few things to try to work on it (I've adjusted the pickups and pole pieces but the bass is still BIG!):
- A mixed set of strings (46 36 26 / 16 11 9) to try to tighten things up with the higher gauge low strings
- An aluminum Gotoh tail piece
- Faber Tone steel tailpiece studs
- Titanium saddles that I may sub in on the lower strings if the above options don't do the job

Anyone have an opinion on if "bassy" is normal for semi hollows generically or T484s specifically?

Question on how to handle a Reverb situation...
Posted by: NoiseFloor - Forum: General Chatter - Replies (10)

I week ago tonight I ordered two Schatten HFN pickups from a Reverb seller located in Seattle with 712 positive feedbacks.  By Saturday having not heard anything at all I sent a quick note checking if he had received my order.  Nothing.

Then yesterday afternoon I sent another, even shorter, just saying that I hoped he was okay and that if shipping was delayed due to weather I completely understand, but could you just let me know you've gotten my order.  Again nothing.

Am I being unreasonable that it seems bad that in the span of a week I don't get any communication?  I work with someone in Seattle who said they'd gotten a good amount snow, but she didn't know of any big power outages or anything, and that the snow was melting.  So should I just chill out or am I being reasonable in that I'm close to just canceling my order.

As as aside, I ordered something else from another seller in Chicago, and the next day he messaged me and said, "Hey, I'm snowed in and can't get to the shipper, I'm really sorry for any delay."  I told him no problem at all, and thanks for letting me know.

I would just really like to get some input on how you'd handle it.  I don't see another way to get a hold of the seller.  Thanks!

  Relicing on E10ss/v
Posted by: etiquette - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (21)

Hi there, new member here!

Yesterday I received my E10ss/v. Holy cow -  this is one loud and a good sounding guitar!
Plenty of bass and treble too. Nice played in feel, I really like it.
Sounds like something right in between a good Gibson and a Martin.

A year ago I tried out a couple of E10ss non-varnish ones so I more or less knew what to expect.
I have also admired the relic´d electric Eastmans, just hadn´t seen a E10ss/v in the flesh.

And I must admit, I am a thad underwhelmed.
I am ok with the dings and the "bleached" spots.
But the sanded parts on the top (steel wool?) I could do without.

It is so stripey and looks plain amateurish to me. Like a four year old had a go with some steel wool.

Do this model vary a lot in appearance? Or are the all more or less striped in the varnish?
(This is no biggie to me, I must point that out, as soon as I play the guitar I forget all about the look...)

Thanks,
Lars in Sweden

Eastman tail pieces - English or metric threads?
Posted by: Grendel - Forum: Eastman Electric and Archtop Guitars - Replies (4)

I'm thinking of changing out the tailpiece studs but need to make sure the ones I'm buying match the threading.  Anyone know which the Eastman guitars come with?  Mine's a T484.

Thanks!

  General Question about Eastman acoustics
Posted by: Silly Moustache - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (4)

Hi folks, I've had an Eastman Archtop since about 2007 without issues, and in 2019 I bought a new E20-P which really impresses me, and last year I bought an E40-00 which I am in love with.

Now I'm in my 70s and don't suppose this will ever be an issue for me .... but ... has anybody ... ever ... had an issue with an Eastman flat top - y'know , like bridges lifting, tops bellying, bridge plates, needing resets etc.,

Just wondrin'

  Eastman E10OM-TC - Pricing
Posted by: syd2aussie - Forum: For Sale / Trade and Online Deals - Replies (4)

I'm new to the Forum but own 5 Eastman guitars so it's time to chime in.  I need some help in pricing a E10-OM TC, year is 2020.  Very slight almost not noticeable fret wear on B-string 1st three frets - otherwise really excellent condition.  I like the guitar but purchased a 2021 ac622ce so don't need two mahogany guitars.

Suggestions on how to price?  Thanks.  Tom
