NAMM 2020 Predictions
Posted by: Pluteus - Forum: General Chatter - Replies (23)

Someone on the Eastman Guitar Owner's Facebook group already asked this question, but thought I'd pose it here as well.  What are your predictions/hopes/wistful desires for Eastman Guitars for the upcoming NAMM 2020 show? 2019 was a pretty big year for new releases.  What do you think 2020 will bring?

I'm wondering if we'll see something that will indicate directions in the Eastman/Bourgeois alliance.  Also, maybe a Romeo with a twist, e.g. another offering with a slightly different size, different tonewood combination, pickup configuration etc.  It was hinted in some video interview I watched that the Romeo that's out now was the start of what would be a new line.  I wonder if there's some truth to this and where it might lead.

Yes, Another Eastman...2012 AH6OM This Time
Posted by: Drak - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (8)

I had been watching this guitar for a month or better, it was on my list of possibilities.
It met most of my criteria...for whatever reason, I decided it was time to make an offer.
He accepted. It will be the brother to my 2007 AC510.
Here is a short summary from the seller (very super-nice gent, as they all have been)

Quote:This is a rare and really nice Eastman OM. This guitar is one of about 400 made by Eastman in 2012 for the Music & Arts music store chain. It is very similar to the E6OM Limited -with premium woods, herringbone trim and rosette, abalone fretboard markers, and a back strip.Nicely ambered sitka top, with tons of silking in the grain. The guitar has been professionally set up and Plek’d, and the action is low with no buzzing. It has a K&K pickup system installed, and it sounds as stellar plugged in as it does acoustically.  This guitar has had the following upgrades: K&K pickup system  (upgrade over the stock Fishman Matrix pickup)
Greven "Tor-Tis" pickguard
Strap button added at the neck heel
Plek'd and set up by Danny Shoemaker at Straight Frets in Austin, TX ($200)
Comes with an original Eastman hard shell case in excellent condition. “It is a guitar we make exclusively for Music & Arts stores. It is an E6OM with E8OM appointments and a Fishman Matrix pickup. Very cool instrument. Also it has the angled pin bridge that I designed to combat any imbalance with pickups and more evenly spread pressure across the top.

  Classic finish on E1D?
Posted by: JJStubby - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (7)

I was looking on reverb and came across an E1D w/classic finish finish that to me was drop dead gorgeous.I had seen it on the PCH1 but didn’t know it was offered on the traditional dreads.I really need to stay offline and quit looking because every time I do I find something that is exactly what I want. The E10D-TC that I recently bought may need a little brother. My wife might still kill me yet!I think I’ve caught the Eastman bug.

Just got in this gorgeous AC522CE. See pics below. This is a right handed guitar being played backwards. I only say that because it sometimes confuses people

  Happy New Year!
Posted by: justintune - Forum: Introductions and EGF Annoucements - Replies (3)

Happy New Year all!

I finally found my sign in and pw info, so after over a year, I can finally post!
I had to go through about 50 sticky notes in a locked drawer to find it Wink

Been hooked on Eastman guitars ever since I took  a ride 1/2 way  to Tucson from the metro Phoenix area,
about five years ago,  to check out an E6 OM that was listed on the umfg.  Been hooked ever since....

That is gone , along with perhaps  15 - 20 other Eastmans , pretty much all E series  ...

Finally settled in on an E1SS LTD that I bought from Music Villa this year
#113 has perhaps the finest looking natural finish adirondack top I've ever seen!

Yes....Montana is surely  putting out some fine guitars   Wink

This guitar fits in nicely with my 2012 Gibson SJ, Woody Guthrie

I liked the E1SS so much, I bought an E100 LTD from Corson Music in IL.

Grew up just outside NYC, in Westchester County

A visit to my brother in Tucson in mid winter '79, with 70 degree AZ weather clinched it for me

Moved out to the Phoenix area January 1980,  with all my belongings in a '71 Saab 99, and been here ever since!

Love those Swedish cars....  currently have a '67 Volvo 122S for those lazy Sunday drives Wink

Love to play bluegrass type stuff,  Doc Watson, Tony Rice, Clarence White, Norman Blake,  Jerry Garcia/ David Grisman a few of my faves.....

Looking forward to " meeting "  everyone!
Jim

  Scored an Eastie E1SS #97 - Incoming!
Posted by: Drak - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (17)

The Eastie list just keeps growing.
I still can't quite believe it, I think something must be wrong with it.
I saw an E1SS on Reverb for $599.99, reduced to $510.00.
So I offered $450.00, ...and they just straight-up accepted it, no questions or counteroffers.
I'm still shaking my head, I can't quite believe it.
But...what could possibly happen to a guitar that's not even a year old yet?
It was listed as mint condition.
I'll check back in when it arrives.
$450.00 for a pretty much brand new E1SS/J45?

Lucinda Williams' J45 is actually what started me down this acoustic road.
And it seems I've bought nearly every other model BUT that.
So I guess I've come full circle...Or fate had me waiting for 'just' the right moment.

And I know the E1 is less than the E10 due to non-gloss (easy to apply) finish and soft gig-bag.
But I finish guitars, I can shoot a full-blown lacquer glossy on it if I want to, no sweat.

On top of THAT, I just found a Recording King Dirty Thirties parlor (also mint) reduced down to $110.00.
Couldn't pass that up either, and I can also lacquer gloss That up too.
Is it just the time of year or something?
Seems to be a lot of really good deals out there right now.

Video comparison of my Eastman guitars and a few other brands
Posted by: jpricewood - Forum: Guitar Videos - Replies (8)

Hi guys,

I've been wanting to do a video comparison of my guitars for a while but haven't had time until today. I'm not a professional reviewer, filmmaker, or guitar player, so please try to look past my sloppiness of my first comparison video. The gain on my mic was a bit too high, so hopefully my breathing doesn't distract you too much. Anyways, I hope this is a useful comparison of tones for you. You can get a better sense for the unique tone of each guitar if you use headphones.

  Eastman E6 vs E10 and E8
Posted by: EastGitFan - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (11)

Hello all...this is my first post, I just signed up.

I have two Eastman GA guitars, an AC122CE (sitka, sapele) and an AC222CE (sitka, ovangkol).

I'd like to get an E series dread but is there enough to be gained from an E series dread compared to the great 122 and 222 grand auditoriums I already have? Is an Adirondack top really worth the extra cash? I'm probably most interested in the E6 vs E10 comparison after reading the recent "jphenderson91" post for the E10TC vs E20TC. And I agree with the post that I should probably still consider the E8 sitka/rosewood against the E6 sitka/hog and E10 addy/hog. I probably have paralysis by analysis. Also, I don't have a local source for these guitars so I don't have the luxury of doing a side by side comparison.

My purpose is to obtain a multi-purpose dread that I can use for rock, country, blues and maybe eventually bluegrass. And I don't care about bling, I care about tone quality and application to different music styles.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.
