Relative weight of Eastman E10ss
Posted by: Jackthebassist - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (11)

Am I likely to find this Eastman is lighter than my Blueridge BD-160? I hope so. Just looking for any insight based on your experience.

Sorry. I do not type well with my thumbs. My Blueridge is a BG-160, not a "BD-160."

  WTB - Eastman with K&K pickup < $1000
Posted by: UncleJesse - Forum: For Sale / Trade and Online Deals - No Replies

I'm looking for a used Eastman; condition doesn't matter as long as the price reflects that, for under 1000 bucks with a K&K or Ultratonic pickup.  I would love an E1/E2OM or slope, but I will consider any model.

send me a message at jessemdavis@gma*l.com (redacted for spam AI messages).

Thanks!

E10ooss thermo cure vs E1ooss Deluxe
Posted by: Slowblues - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (9)

Good morning everyone, lately l'm in love (or in GAS if you prefer) for an LOO, and I'm seriously considering Eastman. Unfortunately in my area I was only able to try an E1ooss Deluxe, which I really liked in terms of general construction and finish, but I found the sound very dry and “restrained”.
I was thinking of the superior model, the E10ooss thermo cured, but it costs twice as much, and I don't understand if the thermo cured adi top and the mahogany can really justify this difference.
Are there any other construction differences between the two instruments? Has anyone tried these two models and can give me their impressions?
Unfortunately I haven't even found any comparison videos between these two models...
Thanks so much everyone.

  guitar effects boxes
Posted by: AlanSam - Forum: General Chatter - Replies (6)

Question here from an old folky guitarist who has a barely used Fender Tele. If I want to use it with an overdrive box and a separate distortion effects box in a manner which permits me to switch between them using a pedal is there a really simple device that would support this functionality? Ideally I would like to be able to activate one or the other or both boxes simultaneously using a single foot depression. Hope this makes sense.

  FRET BUZZING - Eastman AC222CE-OV
Posted by: Romain - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (3)

I need this solved in a big way.  Haven't been able to play this guitar since I bought it a year ago because the buzzing is that bad.
=12ptI brought my Eastman acoustic to a music store tech because I was unable to get rid of the fret buzzing on the 3rd and 4th strings myself. I had delicately leveled the fret board to make sure there were no high spots myself, but the buzzing continued and so that's why I brought it to this tech.  He looked at the guitar and said it looks like the last 8 or 9 frets may be slightly raised so he said he would sand them evenly with the others using the 12 radius block.  I responded that a straight edge doesn't show any hump so he took out his straight edge and checked every string and fret throughout the keyboard.  He then remarked, your right, and that I had done a great job of leveling the frets.   =12ptYet despite seeing no problems with the last 8 frets using the straight edge he still insisted on sanding them down.  I felt uncomfortable with this proposal but who am I to question someone with 15 years experience. =12ptSo he went ahead and sanded down those frets and re-crowned them, and replaced the saddle with a non-compensated one.   Sure enough it did not resolve the buzzing, which he agrees continues to sound like fret buzzing.  He kept the guitar for another week saying he'd continue to work on it. =12ptToday he informed me that he can't figure out why it's buzzing.  He also advised me that he tried an old trick of soaking each hole in the bridge with crazy glue to which I responded, seriously, why would you do this without getting my permission to do so. =12ptSo now my frets are no longer perfectly level throughout the keyboard, the bridge holes are lined with crazy glue and a guitar that is buzzing more than ever.  I haven't taken the strings off to see if there's anything else messed up.  I am not happy.

T486 - Jazz pickup poor match
Posted by: 651486 - Forum: Eastman Electric and Archtop Guitars - Replies (1)

I just picked up a T486 and am fairly amazed at how nice it is. However, I just have to add to what others have said which is that the the Jazz neck pickup is a poor choice for this model. It is just way too bright and thin for my taste.

The T59/v has Seymour Duncan Antiquities pickups, which as I understand it, are Seymour Duncan Seth Lovers that have had the magnets degaussed.

I put Seth Lovers in my T486 and that completely cured the problem. It sounds fantastic. I highly recommend that set if you too find your T486 to be too bright and lacking body. (Really, I think any of the quality PAF style pups are going to sound good - Lollar Imperials, Gibson Burstbuckers, etc.)

Using Seth Lovers is also in keeping with the idea that the 486 is a new guitar vs the 59/v being the well-aged vintage version of the same guitar.

Hopefully this will help someone wondering about pickup options.

  For sale: E20OM MR TC
Posted by: davet - Forum: For Sale / Trade and Online Deals - Replies (4)

I purchased this E20OM MR TC back in early 2024 having played mostly dreads previously and nylon classical. It's great for fingerstyle, but I keep going back to nylon for most things and dreads for strumming.

$1500+shipping or trade for an equivalent dread.
Guitar is like new, with warranty card/unregistered.

A little tech help on an AC412, please
Posted by: Southern Daddy - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - No Replies

Looking to confirm that on an AC412 that...

1) The bridge pins are the same size as what is currently being used on Eastman Acoustics

2) The Truss Rod adjustment is made with a 4mm Allen/Hex Key

I have contacted Pomona already, got a GREAT CS Rep to assist me, but sadly, they have VERY limited info on my actual guitar, which is an AC410. AC410's were only sold in 2008, per Pomona.

Pomona DID state in their reply email that the AC412 is simply a renamed AC410,  so I want to get that info on the AC412, as it should be the same  for my AC410.

So if you know the answers, I'd be grateful for your  response.

  finish on headstock touch up?
Posted by: hman0217 - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (1)

Hi

I just bought a 2023 E20OO, which I am having a lot fun of joy with. But I discovered some light grey spots on the headstock. I went to rub it out with naphtha but I guess I rubbed too much and it took out the finish. (The grey spots are still there, incidentally)

Is there a way I can touch up where the finish rubbed off?

I don't personally mind it but if this doesn't end up being a forever guitar for me, I don't want to have to drop the condition a level at resale because of rubbed out finish.

You can't really see it in the attached picture but I am including in order to identify the location of the issue (you can see the grey spots)

bonus if anyone has other ideas on removing the grey spots. I have no idea what they are but they appear to be on the surface.
