On the verge of buying this case for my E1SS DLX. Kind of on fence. No intention of flying soon, however, I do tend to travel with it in car along with dogs and luggage. Wanted a case that could do double duty with martin d-18 and my Eastman without the weight my D18 wood case has. Opinions good and bad are welcome and would love to hear from those that have this case. Thank you

Hello ! I am new on this forum, and I just bought my 1st hollowbody, 1st P90-equipped guitar and diggin' it so far ! Very good sounds, playability is unreal ! But it is not perfect yet.

I am planning to hotrod it, to make it truly perfect.

My 1st gripe, is the tuning is a bit unstable. I have read here that new locking tuners would solve the issue. Would you have any recommendations, model, brand?

My 2nd gripe, I am finding the pickups... a bit uninspiring. Especially the neck pickup. I mean they sound good but I am looking for more mojo. Also, it gets flabby on the low notes on the low E string. I read that was a common issue with Gibson scale guitars, but it might be related to the pickups too. I was thinking about raising the pickups. Has anybody done that on their T64/v?

Also, has anyone swapped the Lollar pickups for an alternative? I keep reading that the Lollars in this guitar are a particularly good fit, but also there seem to be lots of people who find the P90 Lollars bland. I am looking for mojo !


Lastly, is there any mod that you would recommend for this guitar? I have read here someone swapping the bridge for a Graphtech Resomax. What kind of difference I can expect with that?

i've got a line on an AC4222ce,  eucalyptus back and sides -- at quite a good price, discounted because the model's discontinued.

john at acoustic shoppe has reviewed it very favourably -- it sounded rich!-- but i've heard some terrible things about euca. generally as a tone-wood (deadening sound), including a propensity to crack.

part of the challenge is that there are so many sub-species.

so:
anyone with direct experience of the 422 A/E  (Aged Eucalyptus)?
any insight into why eastman discontinued the model?

Played a 622Ce yesterday and loved it. I'm a Taylor man and do love the Eastman elements you pay much more for with Taylor. Gonna buy my first eastman acoustic to play my Jorma, Chet, Tommy E trype stuff, as opposed to my Eastman 805 I use for Joe Pass.  I only use fingers.

SO the 622 struck me as an amazing picking guitar. Wondering what people think about best eastmans for finger players.

I just purchased an Eastman E2D. Can anyone suggest a good hard case that will fit it snugly.

I’ve almost owned my E2D (cedar top w/ sapele b/s) for 2 years now. I still can’t believe how unbelievable this guitar is. I’ve been playing it on fairly dead strings, and it still sounds incredible. The tone is so crisp, with chimey trebles, and a deep deep growl. It sounds just as good flatpicking as fingerpicking (my preferred playing style), but the headroom doesn’t compress. It basically has limitless headroom.

Just figured I’d share in case anyone is contemplating getting this model. And of course wanted to brag on my own guitar!

I went to a local guitar shop the other day, maybe one of the best in my multi state region, and I played several new D-18s, and I’ve got to say my E2D is just better. And those Martins are now almost $3K. I did play a 1967 D-18 that was probably the best sounding guitar in the store though. But hard to beat wood that old.

I also think this guitar has taught me that overall I prefer a long scale guitar. I also like my E8OM-TC, but don’t like the short scale as much. The E8 is pretty wonderful, so by no means am I slighting it. It can just be a bit floppy due to the scale length. The long scale also lends more towards alternate tunings.

Do you guys also go through periods or cycles where you may prefer one guitar over another, and then flip flop? Up until a few months ago, I swore I slightly preferred the E8, but now I prefer the E2D. Maybe it’s just because I’ve been playing it more.

At any rate, we sure are blessed to have Eastman!
