Four Strong Winds

If Ian tyson (1933 - 2023 RIP) had only written this song he would have been a hero of mine. Neil Young has maybe had most success with the number, and here he is with 12 stringer and harmonica. (don't know who the young guy behind him is but he has promise) :-

All songs written on guitar are 'guitar songs' - but some quintessentially so. Here is an accessible guide to playing this classic :- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fAMxEn0IhgQ

  How I lost a mint condition E10D-TC
Posted by: Grandpa Bucky - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (6)

All three of my sons, plus one grandson, play guitar. My middle son had some decent chops but over the past decade, whenever he visited, he would make excuses saying, "I'm out of practice and lost my callouses." I'm not sure if it was my pep-talk or the fact he finally got a house with a dedicated music room but this visit there were no excuses. Oh, the pep-talk you ask? I merely told him, "You have correctly diagnosed the problem and you know the solution." We played a couple hours two nights in a row with me on the Gibson J-45 and him on the E10D-TC. We have always been pretty good at improvising together but this time around it was on another level. A few tunes we hit every note perfectly and actually ended on the same note after which we found ourselves laughing from the sheer joy of it. Well except there was that one time when I ended the song but he kept it going until he ended but then I kept it going and so on, but we were just messing with each other that time...I think. The second night I began a little jazzy progression while he played lead. At first I was letting my ego get in the way and playing too loud but then some interesting leads he was playing managed to sneak past all my racket so, in order to hear him, began playing softer and softer until I was just playing on the two bass strings. As I did that the first time, he got self conscious and also played softer. The next time I did that, he kept right on cooking and showed me what he was really capable of. Normally, we'll trade back and forth so I get my chance at playing lead but this time around I was more than happy to take a back seat and let him have the glory. That kid blew me away. After all these years he'd finally stopped holding back. I watched and listened as he bonded with that guitar. The next morning as he was headed out the door for the long drive home, I said, "Don't forget your early birthday present," then handed him the Eastman in the case.

  A question on picking
Posted by: Tom Strum - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (8)

For many years I held my flat pick like everyone else where the tip contacts the strings. One day I began holding it on its side so the widest part brushes the strings. I find it gives me more control and strumming/palming is enhanced. Don't recall how or why I changed. Anyone else play like this out there? Just curious.

Do T386, T486, and T59 have the same body?
Posted by: timk - Forum: Eastman Electric and Archtop Guitars - No Replies

Hi,
I found Eastman guitars because I'm looking for a semi-hollow with a wider neck - 1.75" at the nut.  It's exciting to see so many positive reviews of Eastman semi-hollows online.
I've done a bit of research and see the differences in pickups, hardware, and finish between the T386, T486, and T59, but I'm curious about the body.
Does anyone know if they have the same body, that is same materials and the same quality woods?  Or would you expect that the more expensive T59 is constructed from higher grade wood?
Thanks,
Tim

Wink Eastman SB55/V - New Faber Bridge Design?
Posted by: MKStrummer - Forum: Eastman Electric and Archtop Guitars - Replies (3)

Hi all,

My first post on here and great to find this site.  After years of variable Gibsons, I'm looking at buying a SB55/V and notice many of the new ones seem to now have the Faber Wraptonate bridge (with individual string saddles) rather than the previous more traditional Faber Wraparound intonated bridge.  Also the newer ones (which seem to retail at close to double the cost) appear at more of a slanted angle than the earlier ones.

To me, the earlier Wraparounds are of course more authentic to a Junior but presumably Eastman had good reason for the change.  Both bridges individually still available through Faber so it doesn't seem like there were supply issues of the Wraparounds.

Any views very much appreciated thank you :-)

AC 222 CE or maybe a E1 OMCE
Posted by: Johbren - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (4)

As you can see in my signature im adicted to the AC line. I been thinking  of getting A 222ce because of the ovangcol back and sides but the e1OMCE has caught my eye. I dont own a Om guitar I know they are smaller but how do they compare to a AC guitar?

  E6SS-TC - mint with upgrades
Posted by: Greg1075 - Forum: For Sale / Trade and Online Deals - Replies (1)

2022 model. The guitar sounds great and is in mint condition. It was upgraded with Gotoh SXB510 tuners and a Holter pickguard. Everything was professionally installed.

The neck is a bit too chunky for me, which is why I’m selling it. It comes with its original case and original Ping tuners.

Price: $800+ shipping (lower 48 states only)

Pictures: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fo/x1h3li3xi...17i9&dl=0

EDIT - price lowered from $900 to $800.

date differential coa vs serial #
Posted by: dmoss74 - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (7)

hi,

what's the biggest disparity any of you have seen between the coa date (written on in Pomona), vs the actual serial number?

i just acquired an e8OM with a coa date of 3-24, but the serial # starts with M22XXXXXX.

two years is a large time span.

has anyone ever inquired of eastman what it is up with that? i'm wondering if they sit in the warehouse that long, or if they ship them out later than the manufacture date.

thanks for any input.
