Please Help Identify my Archtop Model
Posted by: SouthPaw - Forum: Eastman Electric and Archtop Guitars - Replies (2)

So some years back, unable to buy an AR372CEL, I found an AR905CE-L second-hand. The chap I bought it from was honest and sincere and really friendly, I've no call to doubt him at all!

The original tailpiece had been replaced with a gold-plated heavy, soft iron, compensated harp type thing (compensated the wrong way). Now replaced with an original r/h till I can get a left fabricated Smile
The floating pickup had Eastman embossed on but upside down - I don't know if that meant it'd been replaced or Eastman used the same floating pickups on left and right-handers. Replaced with a Kent Armstrong hand-wound resurrected by Dan Armstrong

The volume pot seems to be logarithmic as it's more of an on-off switch, they're advertised as linear. Working on that!

Those things are just life for a lefty.

What troubles me is the "sharpie shenanigans" going on, on the label, someone's over-written the model number - has anyone seen something like this before? If could be a fake, but Left-handed guitars take longer to sell, it might be a different model - my Eastman knowledge is not all that Smile

Trying to add a photo Smile

I've got an AR372 as well now and I've decided to keep both and sell about 5 other guitars instead Big Grin they're both keepers!

First Eastman Acoustic - ac622ce KOA and WOW
Posted by: Trock85 - Forum: General Chatter - Replies (4)

Hi Everyone

First post here, just received my very first Eastman guitar from Sweetwater this week and all I can say is WOW!

Been playing 40 years now, electric and acoustic and write and record my own material. Mostly in the vein of Americana (Mellencamp, petty, others) so acoustic and electric are both featured prominently.

I have had lot of acoustics over the years and spent little and lots on different ones. I had a custom Taylor once, maybe 15 years ago that was about 5K, and it was one of if not the nicest acoustics I ever had. Just brilliant tone, balance, playability etc

have also had my trusty 314 ce for 30 years? Beat up and ugly now but such a fav

anyway, when I saw this Eastman on sweetwater I initially didn’t look at the price because I thought oh wow, the leaf inlay (high I love because autumn is my fav time of year), the beauty, the build etc must be 8K or something

i glanced down and couldn’t believe it

the first time in my life a guitars LOOK said I have it have this, so I bought it untried (they do give you 30 days but I knew I was keeping this).

it came and I unboxed it and I was just so blown away, pics never do a guitar justice no matter what you have or are getting.

the case was also very nice. I picked it up and it was in tune, sweetwater does a very nice job usually of checking and setting up guitars

anyway, the first strum and pick were enough t give me chills, it just boomed in a good way, crips highs and low bottom BOTH

i just kept playing and playing, I hadn’t played much the past few years (life etc)

and it was like I was 16 again.

love this guitar and ams so blow away by Eastman. Are all like this??

I switched to a beautiful Breedlove acoustic a while back form my normal Taylor’s and some other custom brands and that is also beautiful, so I fell that Eastman and Breedlove may just be hidden gems.

thanks for listening lol, and thanks for letting me be here

  2013 e80m?
Posted by: dmoss74 - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - No Replies

hi,

someone locally has one of these for sale. i went and looked at it today. i won't be buying it. it is pretty beat up. a couple things were head scratchers, though.

a) the headstock cover was really light wood. b) the herringbone was really lightly colored, not a pronounced black and white. c) the b&s were really lightly stained as well.

and d), the print on thre label was nearly worn off. i could only make out the faintest part of the eastman logo. none of the serial # or anything else.

the case looked original and he had the coa, but with no readable label, i couldn't verify its provenance.

i came home and searched 2013 e8om, and found this one that was for sale at some site a while back.

https://www.oscarguitars.se/en/om-audito...tural.html

is anyone familiar with this peculiar version of the e8om? i've never seen one like this before.

  E20 OM family
Posted by: Steve Yarbrough - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (1)

I live for part of each year in Poland, and this year I brought along an E20OM that I love and will be leaving it here in our condo to keep its E20D cousin company. I don’t want to be without it, but this year it got lost for a couple of days in transit, so I’m going to let it stay behind and buy another one as soon as I get home. Has anyone here posted a video comparison of the E20, the E20-TC and the E20-MR-TC? Or can anyone just share some impressions with me? I’d really appreciate it.

Back in the Eastman fold - E6D-TC Alpine
Posted by: TomC - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (4)

As anyone who has read some of my posts knows, I buy and sell A LOT. Sometimes too much and what is an excellent guitar gets sold. That would apply to the E6D-TC Alpine I re-bought yesterday. Here is the original post - https://www.eastmanguitarfans.com/Thread...-tc+alpine

For me I find the limited edition Alpine version a nice balance between Sitka and Adirondack. I am very happy to have the second biggest mistake I have made in selling rectified. Now if I can get a certain person in Florida to decide my beloved E40OM isn't quite what they want, I will have the biggest selling mistake overturned. I am still working on the concept of patience. Newer/different isn't always better.

Pre truetone Nitro relic on SB59?
Posted by: ChupeBigCat - Forum: Eastman Electric and Archtop Guitars - Replies (4)

Hi all,
Anyone had any experience of top cracking or forced relic? I've seen nitro easily cracked with a simply heating and compressed air...

It seems to be the Nitro is not common (to me anyway) to other brands of guitars I've had with a Nitro finish... and contains a plasticizer of some kind?

Has anyone seem any older tops start to relic naturally? I can't see this top ever showing and signs of cracking to be totally honest...

Anyone?

Cheers

  Need cutaway

Trying to decide between a Eastman AC422 and  Taylor 414ce.  Never played an AC422, hard to find in area so I would have to order one.  May just breakdown and buy used 814CE.   Need an electric/Acoustic with cut-away.  Main non-elec go to now is 89 HD28 and 76 Yari/Alverez.  Need some feed back please. Mostly 70's rock, occasional Praise and Worship.
